Jenna Ortega isn't trying to be in a Marvel movie because she already was once: 'They took all my lines out'
Jenna Ortega isn't looking for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — because she already had one.
The Wednesday actress reflected on her tiny part in 2013's Iron Man 3 in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight after the interviewer stated, "I'm hoping that we can create this world where we can get Jenna Ortega into the Marvel universe."
Too late. Replied Ortega, "I did it once."
She continued, "It was one of the first jobs I ever did."
But she didn't get to speak in it. "They took all my lines out," Ortega said. "I'm in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame. I have one leg, and I'm the vice president's daughter."

Ortega can be seen for a few seconds about an hour and a half into Iron Man 3. She doesn't have any lines in the final cut of the film, merely serving as a visual indicator of the allegiance of her vice president grandpa (Miguel Ferrer).
The movie's villains are proponents of Extremis, a revolutionary regenerative treatment that could help patients regrow missing limbs (and also sometimes makes them explode). The presence of Ortega's character, who uses a wheelchair, shows that the vice president is in league with the antagonists — presumably so they can treat his granddaughter with Extremis — rather than an ally of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle).

In the ET interview, Ortega's Death of a Unicorn costar Paul Rudd lobbied on behalf of Marvel Studios, as he has played Ant-Man in five films for the studio. "Marvel is very good at kind of laying those breadcrumbs, so it might very well be that you come back," he said. "They're gonna create something for you! 'Cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise."
But Ortega suggested that her small moment in Iron Man 3 doesn't give her much hope for the future. "They even took my name away," she said, seemingly referring to the fact that she's simply credited as "Vice President's Granddaughter" in the movie. "I count that [as my MCU appearance], and then I move on."

"I have been telling everyone I knew for weeks that she was going to win," Ortega said. "I knew it from the moment I met her that Mikey was just an absolutely beautiful, profound, and just an incredibly talented person. I was really excited that our characters were best friends in Scream."
She continued, "More than anything, it's exciting to see good people win. And she's absolutely incredible. To see her getting her flowers is really a dream come true. I jumped! I screamed!"

Ryan Reynolds shares mock video reaction to having Deadpool role ‘stolen' by Neil Patrick Harris
Ryan Reynolds has shared a comic video reacting to having the role of Deadpool 'stolen' a forthcoming video game about the character. Marvel's Deadpool VR, a new game for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S platforms, was announced at Summer Game Fest 2025 this week – and will see Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris voice the comic book character that Reynolds has played on screen since 2009. Just hours after the trailer for Marvel's Deadpool VR was released online, Reynolds shared a video in which he can be seen 'over-reacting' to the news. In the video, Reynolds can be seen wearing a lab coat and glasses, in an apparent imitation of Harris in the latter's star-making role, as a teenage physician in the sitcom Doogie Howser, MD. Journaling on his personal computer, Reynolds writes: 'Today, I learned a lesson about buttholes they don't teach you in medical school. 'People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all,' he continues. 'No, I don't blame Meta Quest. Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel, but even though I haven't hit puberty yet, I still know when you're getting totally screwed.' Reynolds is then interrupted by the appearance of Robyn Lively, who tells him that he's being 'vindictive and stupid'. Lively, the half-sister of Reynolds' wife Blake Lively, appeared in Doogie Howser as a nursing student who dates Harris's character. Fans reacted positively to the video on social media, with one person writing: 'Ryan is a goat for this.' 'It's funny that most people don't realise he's parodying NPH's old show as revenge for taking the Deadpool role. But, it also just reminds me how old I am because I instantly recognised the reference,' another wrote. 'It's like they didn't even ASK him. Because you know Ryan would've PAID to do the voice,' someone else claimed. Reynolds has portrayed the character of Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in four feature films: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). While Reynolds was not one of the many names announced to star in the forthcoming Avengers sequel, it is widely expected that Reynolds will reprise the character in a future Marvel film.
