RM1.33 billion spent on education since GRS took over

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government continues to prioritise educational development by allocating RM1.33 billion for various educational programmes and initiatives from 2021 to 2025. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said RM848.26 million has been spent on various educational assistance, while RM485 million is specifically allocated for human capital development. He said from 2021 to 2025, 14 new initiatives worth RM164.14 million have benefited approximately 210,918 students across the State. 'Academic excellence is not just an individual success but a crucial asset for the country. The State Government is committed to ensuring that no child in Sabah is left behind in accessing quality education,' he said at the Sabah Education Department's 13th Academic Excellence Recognition Ceremony (Mekar) held at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC). His speech was delivered by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif. Additionally, Hajiji said the State Government has also established the Sabah Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council on May 19 this year in the effort to coordinate over 160 technical and vocational training institutions throughout the State, in line with future labour market needs. He said the State Government also provides cash incentive of RM1,000 to 146 outstanding STPM 2024 students, while one Sabahan student who excelled at the national level also received cash incentive of RM3,000 as a token of appreciation. Hajiji emphasised the importance of close cooperation between the State and Federal Government through the Education Ministry to enhance the quality and infrastructure of education in Sabah. 'The State Government is always open to discussions to strengthen human capital development. Education remains a key passport to the future of our children,' he stressed. Warisan to contest all 73 seats

Armizan's child not at SMA Tun Datu Mustafa

In a Facebook post, Ghazali clarified, 'For the record, none of Datuk Armizan's children attend that school.' He added that a police report has been lodged against a TikTok user under the handle 'saka_merah7' for allegedly spreading false and malicious content intended to defame the minister. 'Social media must not be used to spread slander or stir assumptions that lead to dangerous falsehoods,' he said. Ghazali said it is his duty to counter the spread of misinformation, especially when the family of the late student is still grieving. 'This is a time for empathy, not political exploitation. Sabah's political scene is mature. "There's no need to stoop this low. Enough is enough. Grab surpasses Q2 revenue estimates with RM651 mil, 23pc growth

Adjusted EBITDA came in at US$109 million, meeting expectations. Despite tough competition from Indonesia's GoTo Group and other new players, Grab added 2 million monthly users, reaching 46 million, helped by broader product offerings. Speculation of a Grab-GoTo merger resurfaced after Grab sold US$1.5 billion in convertible bonds, but the company denied ongoing talks. Discussions had reportedly slowed due to regulatory concerns, with Indonesia's antitrust body warning against monopolistic outcomes. Shares remain well below Grab's 2021 IPO price, though they've risen 60pc over the past year. The company, backed by Uber, is also pushing into digital finance, expecting to issue over US$1 billion in loans by year-end, and exploring autonomous technologies.
