Mukesh Khanna says Ranveer Singh can play Tamraj Kilvish: 'Many people tell me, yeh nashedi ko Shaktimaan mat banana'
Mukesh Khanna
ruled the small screen in the 1990s with his iconic superhero role in Shaktimaan. So, when it was announced that the cult show would get a big-screen adaptation, fans were naturally excited.
However, the film's casting is still under discussion, and reports suggest that the studio is keen on having
Ranveer Singh
as the lead. But Khanna has been vocal about not seeing
Ranveer
as the right choice.
'He can play the villain, not Shaktimaan'
In a recent interview with Filmygyan,
Mukesh
Khanna addressed a fan who suggested that he should let Ranveer Singh take on the superhero's mantle. The veteran actor admitted to liking Ranveer's energy and talent but clarified that he doesn't see him as Shaktimaan.
'You can't change my mind. You like Ranveer Singh, and I like him too. We've sat and talked for three hours, and he's a very energetic actor. But I have openly said to his face, you can play Tamraj Kilvish (the story's villain). His face has a mischievous positivity. This actor — if you tell him to play Shaktimaan, you might enjoy it because he makes you dance, but you need someone mature enough to play Shaktimaan,' Khanna said.

Ranveer chased the 'Shaktimaan' role for 3 hours—only for Mukesh Khanna to say NO?
'I need the right face, not just an actor'
Khanna further explained that an actor's real-life image influences their reel-life portrayal. He said, 'Maine kaha dekho, mereko Shaktimaan ke liye actor nahi chahiye, face bhi chahiye. Kahin na kahin real-life mein agar aapki image galat hai, toh woh beech mein aati hai. Kayi log mujhe Ranveer Singh ke liye bolte hai ki arrey sahab yeh nashedi ko Shaktimaan mat banana, humare bachpan ki yaadien khatam ho jaayengi' (I said, look, I don't just need an actor for Shaktimaan, I also need the right face.
In some way, if your real-life image is negative, it comes in the way. Many people tell me about Ranveer Singh, 'Sir, don't make this addict Shaktimaan, our childhood memories will be ruined)."
Shaktimaan aired on Doordarshan from 1997 to 2005, with Mukesh Khanna playing the dual role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a bumbling photojournalist. The show became a cultural phenomenon, and its upcoming cinematic adaptation is among the most anticipated projects in Bollywood.

Shantanu Moitra returns to Bengali cinema, teams up with Jeet
Shantanu Moitra returns to Bengali cinema with 'Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat,' starring Jeet as Ananta Singh, a figure seen as both a revolutionary and a thief in 1960s Kolkata. The film explores Ananta's transformation from freedom fighter to radical justice seeker, pursued relentlessly by Inspector Devi Rai, raising questions about his true nature and the cost of justice. The maestro of melodies, Shantanu Moitra , is making a comeback to Bengali cinema with Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat . Directed by Pathikrit Basu, the film stars Jeet in a powerful new avatar as Ananta Singh. Set against the turbulent backdrop of 1960s Kolkata, the film unfolds through gripping robberies that shake the city's elite. At the center of it all is Ananta—an aging, enigmatic figure seen by some as a ruthless thief and by others as a revolutionary. The cat-and-mouse chase intensifies as Inspector Devi Rai leads a relentless pursuit, while the public remains divided: is Ananta a criminal, or a savior? The narrative travels through shifting timelines, peeling back the layers of Ananta's life—his days as a committed freedom fighter under Masterda Surya Sen, and later, his disillusionment with a corrupt system that betrayed the ideals of independence. Refusing to accept defeat, Ananta wages a new kind of war, channeling his combat skills and strategic brilliance into acts of radical justice for the downtrodden. His journey becomes one of rebellion, redemption, and the steep moral cost of justice. Moitra, returning after years to the industry, expressed his excitement and said, 'The remarkable journey of Ananta Singh—from freedom fighter to bank robber to film producer—has completely fascinated me. Stories like these are what draw me to cinema. Collaborating with Jeet for the first time makes this even more special.' Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat promises to be a landmark cinematic experience. "Get the latest news updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2 ."

On Friday, August 15, the pair shared a kiss while relaxing on board, giving fans a rare glimpse of their private romance. Sun, sea and a little PDA According to the pictures and videos published by Daily Mail, the couple clearly made the most of their Mediterranean getaway. They lounged on the yacht, took dips in the sparkling blue waters, and mingled with friends on board. At one sweet moment, Ceretti placed her hand on DiCaprio's back as they climbed the yacht stairs together. A relaxed day in the sun turned into a picture-perfect PDA moment. Rare public appearance sparks excitement Though linked since August 2023, DiCaprio and Ceretti are rarely seen together in public. Their yacht outing gave fans a rare and intimate look at a love that has stayed mostly under wraps. Jet-setting lovebirds The couple seems to share a love for travel and luxury trips. Earlier this summer, they were spotted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding celebrations in Venice. On June 26, they were photographed leaving the Gritti Palace Hotel before the wedding welcome party. DiCaprio was effortlessly sharp in a dark suit and cap, while Ceretti looked chic in a long neutral dress with stitching details, a stylish updo, and a nude clutch bag. Ceretti opens up about high-profile love Earlier this year, Ceretti spoke for the first time about dating someone famous in Vogue France. While she didn't name DiCaprio directly, the magazine called him a 'very, very famous actor.' The model said they first met in Milan but didn't share more details. She also reflected on the pressures of dating in the spotlight. 'As soon as you're in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become 'girlfriend of', or 'boyfriend of,' for that matter. And that can be extremely annoying,' she told Vogue France. Labels can be limiting Ceretti added, 'Suddenly, people are talking about you as so-and-so's girlfriend who was so-and-so's ex. So, it's not nice to think that you can't love whoever you want, because of the labels people need to stick on you.' Yet, she said love can rise above all the noise. 'If what you're experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there's no reason to be alarmed. Because love protects and gives confidence." Since their romance became public, DiCaprio and Ceretti have kept things mostly private but have been spotted together at a few events and trips.
