Third person charged in relation to Pheobe Bishop's murder known to be fisherman, father and chronic social media user referring to himself as 'Rockspider'

Sky News AU04-07-2025
The third person charged in relation to Pheobe Bishop's murder identified as Bundaberg man Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser, refers to himself online as the 'Rockspider', and has about seven social media accounts where he regularly posted about fishing, alcohol and women.
Detectives arrested Mittelheuser, 30, on Tuesday evening outside a local fast food outlet in Bundaberg west, just a day after Pheobe was put to rest by her family during a private funeral.
He is facing two counts of accessory after the fact to murder, one count of failure to appear in accordance with undertaking and one breach of bail condition.
Separate to those charges, Mittelheuser is also facing charges of driving while disqualified, fraud and drug possession.
Police will allege he used Pheobe's mobile phone to interfere with the investigation.
Mittelheuser reportedly did not appear in court when his case was mentioned on Wednesday, but he was heard by phone from custody and did not apply for bail, nor did he enter into any pleas.
The Courier Mail reported a solicitor told the court the fraud charge and the accessory after the fact charges were related.
He said the fraud charge involved the alleged use of a credit or debit card that is also relevant to the accessory allegations.
The 30-year-old's case has been adjourned until August 25.
Prior to his arrest, Mittelheuser regularly posted on social media with his posts indicating he is also a father to a young daughter, but there are no images of his partner.
His bio indicates he studied at Bundaberg State High School and was born in 1995.
His various Facebook pages are inundated with posts of him holding fish, alcohol, women, narcotics and statements about provocation.
One post he shared on his page reads: "Sometimes you just gotta break out the chainsaw and cut some mother******* up".
On one of his accounts, Mittelheuser made reference to Trent McRae in his bio, writing: "I got rinsed by Trent McRae".
McRae, 22, along with another man was charged in May for his involvement in an alleged fatal hit and run crash which killed Bundaberg cyclist Matty Nilsen on April 29.
His charges do not relate to Pheobe Bishop's murder.
Pheobe suspiciously disappeared from her hometown, on May 15, just a few hours before she was due to catch a flight from Bundaberg Airport to Western Australia, to visit her boyfriend.
She was last seen alive carrying her luggage on Airport Drive, near Bundaberg Airport, but police confirmed they are "certain" she never made it into the terminal.
Her housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, who both claim to have driven the teen to the airport on the day of her disappearance, have been accused of her alleged murder.
The pair were charged in relation to Pheobe's alleged murder on June 5, and less than 24 hours after their arrest, her human remains were found.
They are due to face Bundaberg magistrates court on August 11 facing one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. They are both yet to enter pleas.
Authorities will allege her body was tampered with a number of times before it was found in bushland near Good Night Scrub National Park.
Mittelheuser remains in custody until his court appearance.

Conwoman's widower charged with elderly woman's assault

The husband of deceased conwoman Melissa Caddick has been charged with assaulting an elderly woman in a cliff-side park a stone's throw from the couple's former home. Anthony Koletti, 43, was charged after meeting with police on Wednesday evening over a report made by a 73-year-old woman. The woman alleged that a man had assaulted her on July 23 at the Lighthouse Reserve in Vaucluse, overlooking Sydney's eastern beaches. She did not require medical treatment. The park is a short distance from the Dover Heights home Koletti and Caddick shared before she disappeared in 2020. Caddick, a self-styled financial adviser, went missing after plundering $23 million from family and friends via an investment scam to live a life of luxury. The 49-year-old's luxury home had been raided days earlier by ASIC agents investigating her Ponzi scheme. Coroner Elizabeth Ryan in May 2023 ruled Caddick was dead, but she was unable to determine the cause because most of her body had not been found. The fraudster's badly decomposed right foot, which was still attached to a running shoe, washed up on a beach on the south coast of NSW in February 2021. Investors defrauded by Caddick before her disappearance and death will recoup a portion of their $23 million in losses, after settling a class action lawsuit with her auditors earlier this year. NSW Police investigating the alleged July 23 assault posted CCTV footage to Facebook on Tuesday to identify a man allegedly involved in the matter. Koletti attended Waverley Police Station on Wednesday evening. He has been granted conditional bail and is set to appear before a magistrate on September 5.

Doctor takes midwife to court for stalking

A running spat between an obstetrician and a midwife with different views on the Middle East has landed in court. The specialist has applied for a personal safety intervention order against the midwife, accusing her of stalking and harassment. The midwife has hit back at claims of racism and antisemitism. The saga began when the obstetrician posted to a Facebook group, calling the midwife a person of colour married to a Jewish man who had been brainwashed, saying 'I'd be very worried if I were one of her patients'.

Virginia city councilman Lee Vogler set on fire by maniac who dumped 19-litre bucket of fuel on him

A city councilman in Virginia was savagely set on fire by a lunatic who stormed into his workplace carrying gallons of fuel and ignited the lawmaker Wednesday morning in the latest sickening attack against an elected official. Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler was allegedly set on fire after Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, 29, barged into Showcase Magazine, a local monthly publication, and dumped a five-gallon bucket of gasoline on the pol around 11:30 a.m., according to the Danville Police Department and the outlet's publisher, Andrew Brooks. Vogler, 38, managed to escape the office and ran to the front of the building, but the monster followed him and torched him. 'This type of senseless act of violence has to stop,' Brooks said in an emotional video published on Facebook Wednesday morning, where he described the horrifying moment Hayes 'forced his way' into their offices and drenched the councilman with the fire accelerant. 'You do not have the right as a human being to get upset with someone enough to lash out and attempt to harm them in any way, much less this way.' First responders rendered aid to the pol, who identified his suspected attacker at the harrowing scene, before he was airlifted to a hospital in North Carolina. The extent of Vogler's injuries is unknown, but Brooks noted he was awake and talking following the terrifying incident and was being taken to a burn center in Lynchburg. Hayes, a Danville resident, initially fled the horrific scene and was captured in his vehicle several blocks from where he allegedly lit the local politician ablaze, according to police. Authorities said Vogler and Hayes are known to each other, but added the attack stems from a personal matter that is not related to the councilman's elected position or political affiliation. The deranged arsonist has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding, police said. He is being held without bond at the Danville City Jail. The investigation is ongoing. 'Our prayers go out to Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler who was violently attacked at his workplace earlier today,' Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin posted on X. 'We pray for a swift recovery Lee and for peace to be on the entire Danville community.' Vogler was elected to the Danville City Council in May 2012, becoming the youngest person ever elected to that position at the age of 24, according to his bio. The four-term councilman graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in political science and is the managing partner for Andrew Brooks Media Group. He also serves on the Virginia Small Business Commission, a position Youngkin appointed him to in July 2022, according to Vogler's Linkedin. Wednesday's attack is the latest in a disturbing wave of violence targeting elected officials, including President Trump, who narrowly escaped death when a would-be assassin fired at him during a 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pa. The then-candidate was struck in the ear before the 20-year-old gunman was taken out by a Secret Service sniper. Last month, former Minnesota Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and beloved family dog, Gilbert, were gunned down and killed in their Minneapolis home in a twisted, politically motivated attack. Alleged assassin, Vance Boelter, is also accused of shooting state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who both survived. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's home was firebombed overnight during Passover in April by a deranged attacker allegedly motivated by antisemitism while the Jewish lawmaker and his family slept. Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was also the victim of a domestic terror scheme aimed at abducting the lawmaker and overthrowing the state government in 2020.
