Captain America: Brave New World marks a bold new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now set for its OTT release, showcasing Sam Wilson's evolution from the Falcon to the new Captain America. Before fans witness Sam Wilson navigating a post-Avengers world, confronting global threats without super-soldier powers— this time from the comfort of their homes —producers shared with LiveMint how his version of Captain America stands out from Steve Rogers.
Producer Nate Moore frames the story of Captain America: Brave New World as a defining moment for the character and the legacy of the shield.
'We love that the Disney+ series gave us such an opportunity to explore Sam Wilson and the interior life that he had and his relationship with Bucky Barnes,' says Moore.
'But, Brave New World is about him taking the mantle of Captain America and running with it while facing threats that are bigger than what we've seen in the past. We're putting Sam through the paces to prove to people, not only that he should be Captain America, but that he can be Captain America in a way that even Steve Rogers never was," Nate adds.
Producer Kevin Feige shares, 'In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson is Captain America, and he has made the decision to unabashedly become Captain America. But what does it mean to be Captain America when you're not a super soldier, which we definitely know Sam Wilson is not, and in a world where the Avengers are not currently active?'
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford as US President Thaddeus Ross.
When a meeting with Ross sparks an international incident, Sam must uncover a dangerous conspiracy and face off against the Red Hulk in a high-stakes global showdown. With a grounded tone reminiscent of The Winter Soldier, Brave New World dives into the political and moral challenges of being a hero in today's world.
Captain America: Brave New World will be streaming exclusively in India on JioHotstar, starting May 28.
The film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
It was originally released in theatres on February 14.

Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Doom In The Fantastic Four: First Steps? What We Know

Last Updated: Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will officially kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming soon, and excitement has grown after a recent public test screening in Los Angeles. Some believe the screening was held because the studio is unsure if the movie will connect with audiences. But soon after the screening, details about the movie's post-credits scene started appearing online. According to Super Hero Hype, quoting popular scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the scene shows Sue Storm (played by Vanessa Kirby) reading to her son Franklin, who is also the child of Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal. When she briefly leaves the room, she returns to find Doctor Doom sitting beside Franklin, holding his mask. The leak also says that Doom's outfit is 'very comic accurate." While it has already been confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will take on the role of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this post-credits scene does not show his face, as per the scooper. Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, may or may not appear in First Steps. The scooper said, 'I know for a fact he filmed something, so it was either cut or will be in the final version of the film." Chris Evans is better known as Captain America in the MCU, but he also played the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). The post-credits scene of the last MCU movie, Thunderbolts* (also called The New Avengers), showed the team receiving a distress signal from the Fantastic Four's spacecraft. Because of this, many fans thought The Fantastic Four: First Steps would end with the destruction of the Fantastic Four's reality, which forced them to escape to the main MCU timeline. But based on the leaked details from First Steps' post-credits scene, it looks like the Fantastic Four will succeed in saving their world from Galactus. Doom's arrival and the possible kidnapping of Franklin might be what pushes the team to travel to Earth-616 to warn others. The film is set in a 1960s-style, retro-futuristic world. Alongside Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, the film will see Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing. Together, they must stop Galactus (Ralph Ineson), a cosmic being who plans to devour the planet along with the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theatres on July 25 and will officially kick off Phase 6 of the MCU. About the Author First Published: May 30, 2025, 16:55 IST
