Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will officially kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming soon, and excitement has grown after a recent public test screening in Los Angeles. Some believe the screening was held because the studio is unsure if the movie will connect with audiences. But soon after the screening, details about the movie's post-credits scene started appearing online.
According to Super Hero Hype, quoting popular scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the scene shows Sue Storm (played by Vanessa Kirby) reading to her son Franklin, who is also the child of Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal. When she briefly leaves the room, she returns to find Doctor Doom sitting beside Franklin, holding his mask.
The leak also says that Doom's outfit is 'very comic accurate." While it has already been confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will take on the role of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this post-credits scene does not show his face, as per the scooper.
Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, may or may not appear in First Steps. The scooper said, 'I know for a fact he filmed something, so it was either cut or will be in the final version of the film." Chris Evans is better known as Captain America in the MCU, but he also played the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).
The post-credits scene of the last MCU movie, Thunderbolts* (also called The New Avengers), showed the team receiving a distress signal from the Fantastic Four's spacecraft. Because of this, many fans thought The Fantastic Four: First Steps would end with the destruction of the Fantastic Four's reality, which forced them to escape to the main MCU timeline. But based on the leaked details from First Steps' post-credits scene, it looks like the Fantastic Four will succeed in saving their world from Galactus. Doom's arrival and the possible kidnapping of Franklin might be what pushes the team to travel to Earth-616 to warn others.
The film is set in a 1960s-style, retro-futuristic world. Alongside Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, the film will see Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing. Together, they must stop Galactus (Ralph Ineson), a cosmic being who plans to devour the planet along with the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).
Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theatres on July 25 and will officially kick off Phase 6 of the MCU.

Kevin Feige on The Fantastic Four - First Steps: It's the perfect time to launch into a new era

After Captain America and the Thunderbolts, it is now time for a new band of heroes to rise and save the day. The Fantastic Four are all set for take off in First Steps. Marvel's first family, who was teased in the post-credit scene of The Thunderbolts, are all set to take over the big screens this July. For Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige , the return of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm was more than just a comic-book plotline; it was a deeply personal and creative opportunity. In a statement, Feige said, 'When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. It came at the perfect time, to help us launch into a new era. They are Marvel's First Family, and I really wanted to do them justice.' ssociation with the Fantastic Four goes back more than two decades, having worked on the early 2000s films directed by Tim Story. Reflecting on those versions, he acknowledged the limitations of the time: 'There was still a bit of fear of being silly.' Now, he says, the creative team is embracing everything that makes the team iconic — including their colourful tone and larger-than-life villains. Among the most talked-about changes is the commitment to a more comic-accurate version of Galactus. 'In another time, some might consider the notion of somebody with a big, angular helmet walking through a city goofy,' Feige said. 'I consider it awesome.' The film is touted to unleash the full spectrum of their appeal, from their '60s retro-future aesthetic and groovy cosmic vibes to, crucially, a comic-accurate portrayal of their most formidable foe, Galactus. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Feige says, 'In another time, some might consider the notion of somebody with a big, angular helmet walking through a city goofy. Hollywood's most bankable star has no solo hit, yet films worth $2.3B; beat Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Dwayne Johnson

The summer of 2025 is the summer of superheroes and blockbusters in Hollywood. A number of mega-budget films are releasing in theatres this year between May and August, raising hopes of a revival of theatrical cinema at the box office. And even as Marvel leads the charge, one man has been at the forefront of the cultural zeitgeist over the last couple of years. And now, having become Hollywood's most bankable star, he has mega projects lined up over the next two years, too. (Also read: Made for $65M, earned $120K, Hollywood's biggest box office bomb ended careers, was called 'worst movie of 21st century') Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal is currently at the peak of his career. Having been around for three decades, the 50-year-old truly broke through only in the last decade, and is now in the busiest phase of his life. In 2025, he has already starred in the second season of HBO's successful video game adaptation, The Last of Us. But it is how the rest of the year pans out for him that makes him Hollywood's most bankable star. Pedro has three films lined up for release this year, and he is filming three more. The combined production budget of these films is over $2.3 billion, a staggering sum. Pedro will be first seen in Celine Song's romantic drama, Materialists. Also starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning, the film is said to be among the most anticipated rom-coms of the summer. Apart from this, he is also in Ari Aster's Western, Eddington. Then comes his biggest role on the big screen yet. Pedro will portray Reed Richards, aka Mr Fantastic, in Marvel Cinematic Universe's reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise. Titled Fantastic Four: The First Steps, the film has been mounted on a $120 million budget, with millions more being spent on marketing. The film marks Pedro's MCU debut. But it is the movies Pedro is filming in 2025 that make him the top draw in Hollywood right now. First up is the film spinoff from the Star Wars universe - The Mandalorian and Grogu. Made on a budget of $167 million, the film takes forward Pedro's character from The Mandalorian series and is set to be the finale to the show. Then, Pedro will bring his Mr Fantastic to the Avengers-verse. He is part of the back-to-back productions - Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. According to ScreenRant, the two films are costing Marvel and Disney a staggering $2 billion in production and marketing. Funnily enough, Pedro's success comes on the back of his performances on television. He broke through with the guest appearance on Game of Thrones season 4 (2015), before getting his own series in The Mandalorian. The success of the latter, followed by The Last of Us, made him a global star. Yet, in cinema, Pedro has never been a top box office draw, with almost all his hits coming where he was a supporting character. Yet, he has films worth $2.3 billion lined up now. Even top Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne Johnson don't have $2.3 billion riding on them like Pedro Pascal. Some MCU regulars like Robert Downey Jr and Anthony Mackie, who are likely to be in both Avengers films, come close, but none of them have other big-budget films like Pedro has in other franchises. Pedro will likely sign more films before the release of Secret Wars in late 2027, which means the 'summer of Pedro Pascal' is likely to continue for two more years.

Kevin Feige Says Fantastic Four In MCU Is A 'Dream Come True', Teases Galactus And More

Last Updated: Kevin Feige calls bringing Fantastic Four into the MCU a 'dream come true' and vows a comic-accurate, thrilling take on Marvel's First Family. Marvel Studios is gearing up for one of its most anticipated launches The Fantastic Four: First Steps, releasing on July 25, 2025, in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. For Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, this project is more than just another chapter in the MCU, it's personal. The return of Marvel's First Family—Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm—became possible after Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Reflecting on the game-changing deal, Feige shared, 'When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. It came at the perfect time, to help us launch into a new era. They are Marvel's First Family, and I really wanted to do them justice." Feige, who worked on earlier Fantastic Four adaptations in the 2000s, recalled the creative limitations of that era. 'There was still a bit of fear of being silly," he admitted. But times have changed, and Feige is ready to embrace everything that makes the Fantastic Four iconic—from their retro-futuristic 1960s vibe to their legendary villains. This time, Marvel plans to give fans a comic-accurate version of Galactus, the planet-devouring cosmic force. 'In another time, some might consider the notion of somebody with a big, angular helmet walking through a city goofy," Feige said. 'I consider it awesome." The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces a fresh cast with Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. They're up against a powerful threat: Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson) and his Herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). As the family battles to save Earth, the stakes grow deeply personal, forcing them to rely not just on their powers, but their bond. Directed by Matt Shakman, and produced by Feige with executive producers Louis D'Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis, this new take on the Fantastic Four promises to balance emotional depth with blockbuster spectacle.
