Friendship To Murder: What Drove Delhi Boys Sandeep And Arif To Kill Each Other?

Last Updated: Sandeep had helped Arif financially several times. He spent Rs 5 lakh for his bail and also recently supported him in buying a flat, despite his own family struggles In a shocking turn of events, a brawl between two childhood friends in West Delhi turned fatal on Sunday night, leaving both men dead. What began as a heated argument escalated into a deadly confrontation, raising disturbing questions about how a lifelong bond ended in such tragedy. The incident occurred in Delhi's Khyala area involving 35-year-old Arif, also known as Aashiq Ali, and 36-year-old Sandeep Yadav, both residents of the neighbourhood. Their homes were separated by just three houses, and their friendship spanned many years. The two friends had grown up in the same locality, played together, and supported each other through joys and sorrows. Sandeep sold bodybuilding supplements, while Arif ran a clothing business. Their families were also well-acquainted. However, on Sunday night, their longstanding friendship took a deadly turn. The confrontation occurred between 8:30 and 9:30 pm in a park in West Delhi's Khyala. An argument broke out over unpaid dues for bodybuilding supplements that Arif had purchased from Sandeep. Sandeep, in urgent need of the money for his mother's medical treatment, reportedly confronted Arif, leading to the fatal clash. Sandeep's sister-in-law, Sumitra Yadav, said, 'Arif called around 8:30 pm and asked Sandeep to come outside. Sandeep's wife told us they were arguing because Arif hadn't paid for the supplements." Sumitra added that Sandeep had supported Arif financially on multiple occasions in the past. He had spent Rs 5 lakh to bail Arif out earlier and had also recently helped him buy a flat. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, with both men attacking each other with knives in a fit of rage. Witnesses quickly rushed them to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, but it was too late. The hospital informed the police around 10 pm that both men had died. The police recovered two knives from the scene, now sent for forensic examination. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vichitra Veer stated, 'We have yet to determine who initiated the attack. We are questioning other individuals who were present in the park at the time." Arif's relative Parveena expressed disbelief, saying, 'Arif and Sandeep were very close friends, with Sandeep even helping Arif with bail. We cannot fathom how this happened." Meanwhile, Sumitra said, 'Sandeep was asking for money for his mother's treatment. Maybe that offended Arif, and he attacked him." view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. 3 held in Bihar for theft of Rs 2.25 crore jewellery, cash in Delhi

The Delhi Police arrested three men from Bihar on Tuesday, cracking a high-profile theft case involving stolen jewellery worth over Rs 2.25 crore and Rs 15.2 lakh in cash. According to the police, all three men were first-time offenders, allegedly lured by the prospect of easy money and a luxurious lifestyle. The arrests were made in connection with an FIR registered on June 27 at Model Town police station, where the complainant, Anita Jhunjhunwala, alleged that her domestic worker, Arun Kumar, had fled from her house with lakhs in cash and a significant quantity of gold, diamond, and silver jewellery. Initial investigations revealed that Arun was last seen on CCTV footage, leaving Jhunjhunwala's house with an unidentified man and two bags. This clue triggered a multi-state manhunt, ending in Bihar's Banka district. 'The team carried out multiple search operations in different states, and the accused's native villages under the jurisdiction of Katoriya, Bandhua Kurwa, and Bonsi police stations in Bihar. Local residents, family members of the accused, and their known associates were thoroughly examined during the investigation,' said Bhisham Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North West. On July 10, acting on a tip-off, the police team raided a forested area in Budhighat village in Banka district and apprehended three suspects—Vivek Kumar, 22, Birender Yadav, 22, and Piyush Kumar Kapri, 29—red-handed while they were allegedly distributing the stolen goods among themselves. According to the police, they were found in possession of a significant portion of the stolen property, including cash amounting to Rs 15.2 lakh and an assortment of gold, diamond, and silver items. During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted their involvement in the crime, naming other accomplices, including Arun, the domestic help who allegedly masterminded the theft. The plan was allegedly executed in collaboration with five other men, all hailing from the same village as Arun, identified as Krishna, Ajay Yadav, Mahesh Tanti, Birendra Yadav, and Vivek Kumar. After the heist, the stolen goods and money were distributed. Some of the cash was reportedly handed to Dilip Yadav, who further redistributed it among others, including Rajesh, Malti Yadav, Kishtu Yadav, Pawan Yadav, Sandeep Yadav, and Naveen Yadav, the police said. All three arrested accused were first-time offenders. The investigation continues, with police efforts now focused on recovering the remaining stolen items.
