Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey IMAX 70mm Tickets Sold Out A Year In Advance
Within an hour of the announcement, 95% of tickets for The Odyssey were snapped up by fans.
Christopher Nolan's magnum opus, The Odyssey, is one of the most anticipated projects of next year. Currently in production, the film has already generated an immense buzz for its star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and more.
In an unprecedented move, the first tickets to The Odyssey went on sale a year before its scheduled release on July 17, 2026. Fans were given the chance to secure tickets for the film's opening weekend, from 16 to 19 July 2026, in IMAX 70mm format at approximately 25 to 26 locations. It included an option to buy tickets for special Thursday afternoon screenings slated for July 16, preceding the main weekend debut.
Within an hour of the announcement, 95 per cent of tickets were snapped up, amassing about a total of $1.5 million in sales.
Earlier this week, Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Zendaya were spotted filming for The Odyssey in Scotland. While engaged couple Tom and Zendaya arrived on set separately off a small boat, Matt Damon, who is playing the movie's lead character Odysseus, was seen dressed in his full costume, which included dark boots, an ancient Greece-style tunic and cattle armour, as well as a long dark green cape that billowed out behind him.
As per People, the trio's arrival in Scotland marks the first time the group of actors have been photographed filming the movie on location in recent months. The group was last seen together in Favignana, Italy, in March.
An initial teaser for The Odyssey was released exclusively in theatres ahead of Jurassic World Rebirth, which was ultimately leaked on social media. It featured Holland's character Telemachus, Odysseus' son, speaking with a character portrayed by Jon Bernthal, as well as the voice of John Leguizamo, who holds an as-of-yet undisclosed role in the film. The teaser further showed a glimpse of Matt Damon as the lead character, Odysseus. The film is set to release on July 17, 2026.

Closely monitoring situation: India on Thailand-Cambodia clashes
New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) As military clashes between Thailand and Cambodia continued, India on Saturday said it is closely monitoring the unfolding situation and hoped for cessation of hostilities. At least 32 people have been killed and nearly 1,50,000 displaced in the border clashes between the two Southeast Asian countries that erupted on Thursday. In its reaction to the conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) advised Indian travellers in the region to contact the respective embassies in the two countries for any assistance. 'We are closely monitoring the situation along the border between Cambodia and Thailand," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. 'India has close and friendly relations with both countries and hopes that both sides will take measures for a cessation of hostilities and prevention of further escalation," he said. The Indian embassies in Thailand and Cambodia have already issued separate advisories for Indian travellers. The Indian mission in the Thai capital urged all Indian travellers to check updates from authorities in the country before visiting tourist attractions in troubled areas. The Indian embassy in Phnom Penh also advised Indian citizens in Cambodia to avoid travelling to border areas. 'In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas," it said in a post on social media. 'Mujhe Daant Padi': Amitabh Bachchan Scolded Rajiv Rai For Making Kajol The Killer In Gupt
Director Rajiv Rai recalls Amitabh Bachchan scolding him for making Kajol the killer in Gupt. Director Rajiv Rai's 1997 thriller Gupt left a generation stunned with its shocking twist — Kajol, the film's beloved heroine, was revealed to be the murderer. The bold move to cast a female lead as the villain was considered groundbreaking in Hindi cinema at the time. But not everyone was on board with this twist — including none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who personally questioned Rai's decision ahead of the film's release. In a recent interview on the Ravi Buleiy Official YouTube channel, Rajiv Rai shared a fascinating anecdote about a trial screening of Gupt held in Chennai. Amitabh Bachchan had attended the show and called Rai the very next day. 'He said, 'Rajiv, are you convinced with what you have done in this film? You have made Kajol the killer, are you sure? How can you be so sure?' So in one way, as a senior, he scolded me," Rai said. 'Mere ko daant padi. He is a senior, he can obviously scold me." Rajiv went on to explain that despite Bachchan's doubts, he stood firm in his creative vision, 'He questioned me, 'How are you so confident that this will work?' I told him, 'Sir, I don't have an answer for your questions. It is Wednesday already, please wait for 2 days, you will get your answer.'" As history would have it, Gupt opened to critical and commercial success, and Kajol's performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Villain, becoming the first actress to win in that category. Rajiv Rai also recalled his early professional ties to Amitabh Bachchan, having worked as an assistant director on classic films like Trishul and Kaala Patthar, both of which starred the megastar. He revealed that during a challenging phase in Bachchan's career — between 1992 and 1994 — he developed a script with Anees Bazmee specifically for the legendary actor. Despite Rai's high hopes, Bachchan declined the project, 'He said that the phase that I am going through right now, I don't want to do any films. He was not going through a good phase then," Rai said. 'He was confused, and in that confusion, he said no. He is not a confused man but his circumstances were such." The rejection left Rai heartbroken, 'I was like, 'I worked so hard, I was angry with my destiny, not with Amitabh Bachchan. I thought if destiny does not want me to work with Amit ji, I will work with someone new, so I made Mohra with Suniel Shetty." That decision turned out to be career-defining. Mohra, released in 1994, was a major hit, and along with Gupt, cemented Rai's legacy as one of the most daring and successful directors of 1990s Bollywood.
