Husband of Dame Deborah James finds love again with 'mystery woman'
The widower of Dame Deborah James has romance in his life again, three years on from her death.
Dame Deborah died on June 28, 2022, at the age of 40, having been diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer in 2016.
Throughout her career, she was incredibly vocal about living with the disease via the You, Me and the Big C podcast and raised over £11million with her Bowelbabe Fund.
Before she died, the journalist – who received a Damehood just weeks before – insisted that she wanted her husband, Sebastien Bowen, to 'move on' when she was no longer around.
And now, he is doing exactly that and fulfilling her wishes.
New photos have captured Sebastien, who Dame Deborah wed in 2008, on a loved-up outing with a mystery woman.
Sebastien strolled hand-in-hand with his other half along the towpath beside the River Thames after lunching at The River Cafe in Hammersmith, west London, which has proven to be a celebrity hotspot.
The 45-year-old was in deep conversation with the unnamed brunette, who appeared to be in her thirties and was sporting a chic red dress and sunglasses.
They laughed and joked, walking at a leisurely pace with their arms firmly around each other's waists.
Having spotted the pair, a passer-by told MailOnline: 'They looked like they were very much in love.
'It was very sweet. For anyone who was inspired by Dame Deborah's attitude to life, it was really heartening to see her husband looking happy again.'
In December last year, the publication revealed that Sebastien, who first met Dame Deborah in 2005, was open to dating again after losing his wife of 14 years.
The publication stressed that it was 'early days,' but he had been on 'several dates' in a bid to 'rebuild his life'.
Adding that he was 'taking things slowly,' a source shared: 'Deborah is going to be a tough act to follow, as they had a fantastic marriage and made a great couple.
'But Seb feels the time has come for him to move on, as Deborah wanted him to.'
Dame Deborah had two children with Sebastien: a daughter named Eloise, now 15, and son Hugo, now 17.
In May 2022, she revealed that she had moved to hospice-at-home care, writing on Instagram that her body 'simply wasn't playing ball' despite 'trying everything'.
She added that she was spending her final days 'with [her] incredible family all around [her]' focusing on 'making sure [she's] not in pain and spending time with them'.
Later on her BBC Radio 5 Live show, Dame Deborah reflected on her marriage and hopes of him finding someone else.
'I don't think I have ever seen my husband so emotional, but now he has suddenly realised the enormity of this,' she said.
'I have given him strict instructions: I want him to move on.'
She added: 'He's a handsome man. I'm, like, 'Don't be taken for a ride, don't marry a bimbo, find someone else who can make you laugh like we did'.'
The former deputy headteacher turned avid campaigner also joked on her podcast that she had a few people whom she didn't want Sebastien to hook up with.
'I would do my damned hardest to haunt him.'

In 2023, Dame Deborah's mother, Heather, told the Daily Telegraph: 'We give Seb our blessing.
'We want him to move forward when he feels ready.'

'My mum abandoned us to live in Kenyan hut with toyboy Masai warrior'
Just weeks after meeting on a package holiday in Kenya, British mum Cheryl Thomasgood tied the knot with Masai warrior Daniel Lekimencho. At 34, Cheryl had left behind her quiet life on the Isle of Wight with her two children and second husband for her new lover—but she later lived to regret it. And her son, Stevie Liddington, says the abrupt decision tore his life apart and ruined his childhood. The couple met in the early 1990s whilst staying at the Bamburi Beach Hotel in Mombasa and hairdresser Cheryl soon traded in her suburban, comfortable home life to relocate with the Kenyan warrior, 10 years her junior. Earlier this month, Cheryl spoke out about the romance, saying she eventually felt used as a "meal ticket". But expressing her anguish hasn't made up for the torment felt by Stevie, who was just 11 when she left the family home. Speaking to MailOnline, he says he is "ashamed" and "deeply disgusted" by his mother's actions. "She was never the kind of mother who cared about her children's emotional well-being, and even now, decades later, she continues to show who she truly is by dragging this all up again without a thought for the people it hurts," he said. Stevie, who relocated to Seoul, South Korea, with his wife and children, says he hasn't spoken to his mum in 10 years. Meanwhile, his brother, who lives in Canada, also has little contact with their mum, according to the brother. Even before she abandoned them, Stevie's childhood had already been traumatic. His father, Robert Liddington, left when he was four-years-old, resulting in Cheryl experiencing a mental breakdown, MailOnline reports. The brothers were placed into foster care before Cheryl's second husband, Mike Mason, provided stability for the family and looked after them as if they were his own. But his life then shattered into pieces when he received a phone call from his mum saying she was never returning home. Matters were made worse, he says, after she spoke with the press. Children at his school would bring in newspapers and make fun of him after she shared tales of her unconventional romance. She swapped her home comforts to live in a mud hut in rural Kenya, where she lived off cabbage and cow's blood. The couple eventually left Kenya behind in 1995 so she could return to the Isle of Wight, and three years later, they had a daughter, Mitsi. They tied the knot on Valentine's Day, both wearing traditional Masai clothing. But when she reportedly would go missing for days, it was Stevie who was left to look after his half-sister. He remembers praying that she was still alive as he walked around the local neighbourhood for hours trying to search for her. Stevie claims that his mum's relationship with Daniel was "violent" and that he cannot forgive Cheryl for what she did, having firmly closed the door shut at any opportunity for a reconciliation, adding that she should "never have been a mother". Four years after marrying, Cheryl and Daniel split in 1999, with the mum citing that the spiritual warrior "turned into a miserable sod". She claimed her third husband changed whilst living in the UK, and became "obsessed" with wealth. And now three decades later, the mum-of-three, now 65, has opened up about her regretful past. "I made a huge mistake, it was very wrong of me, and I have a lot of regrets, especially about how it damaged my children," she told the Mail. She added: "Daniel was trying his best, but he could never understand the Western ways and couldn't be the dad that they needed." She maintains that there is "one good thing" to come of their difficult romance, which is their daughter Mitsi. Following their relationship breakdown, Daniel remained on the island, where he now works in a supermarket.

The stalwart of the BBC show is wed to Briony and shares a close bond with their daughter Clementine. Philip has not shied away from detailing his difficulty in coming to terms with his daughter's illness. Now recovered, Clementine is eager to support those who face similar battles. "As a dad, it's been very difficult, I've found it very hard to understand. I've spent 62 years enjoying eating and it's very hard not to say, 'Just eat, it's easy',' he frankly told MailOnline back in 2016. He added: 'But Clementine has come through this on her own and I know she'd love to help others who are in a similar situation. " Christmas is a very difficult time of year because people suffering with anorexia get booze and food shoved at them - and that's very hard to deal with." In a heartwarming show of progress, Clementine revealed her strides in recovery in 2020, posting side-by-side photos from the peak of her condition and now, reports the Express. "Never think you can't escape," she encouraged in the image caption, while opening up about the additional challenges of battling bulimia and anorexia. Clementine delved into how her deteriorating romantic relationship might have unleashed a crisis within, leading to a life that seemed alien to her. In 2011, the fitness coach succumbed to bulimia, confessing that she vomited "about eight times" on New Year's Eve and woke up the next morning drowning in "shame and utter self loathing". The year following marked the onset of anorexia for expressed: "That was the worst year, and Christmas, ever. It was just pure hell, with no escape. I was TOTALLY consumed by the eating disorder, addicted to it, addicted to counting calories and 'burning off' what I could. "I weighed EVERYTHING. I counted the calories in EVERYTHING. I hated what I'd become but I was petrified of giving up that addiction." She detailed her grueling journey towards recovery, stating: "After a long, and at times sooooo painfully slow, recovery I'm here, where I am now... I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back." Clementine stated emphatically: "I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. And also because I genuinely believe EDs are still very misunderstood and that kills me a bit. "This is a hard time to go through, especially if you have an eating disorder but know that there can be life on the other side. And know that you really are strong enough to get there."
