The story of "Sister Hong," also known as "China's Red Uncle," a man who secretly filmed sexual encounters with allegedly over 1,600 men while posing as a woman, recently shook Chinese social media. On July 5, police in Nanjing arrested a 38-year-old man, surnamed Jiao, for distributing obscene content. According to local media, Jiao had set up a hidden camera in his home and filmed himself having sex with unsuspecting male visitors. He reportedly lured them in by pretending to be a woman online. Aside from digital violation and deceit, the case has also snowballed into a disturbing public health scare as the STD (sexually transmitted disease) results of several of Sister Hong's victims test positive.According to areport, out of 237 men who have so far participated in the ongoing investigation, at least three have tested positive for HIV. Authorities have not confirmed whether the infections are directly linked to Jiao, but the news has intensified concerns. Many of the victims were in relationships, raising the possibility of wider STI transmission. In China, knowingly transmitting an STD carries a potential sentence of three to ten years in prison. However, this portion of Jiao's charges may depend on whether transmission can be legally proven. Regardless, the charge of spreading obscene material already holds a maximum penalty of two years.'Sister Hong' was initially rumoured to be in his 60s, but police confirmed he is 38 and targets heterosexual men. While claims of 1,600 victims were dismissed, over 1,000 explicit videos have still surfaced online.Since the news broke, the case has exploded online, not just because of the nature of the crime, but due to the scale. Thousands of explicit videos reportedly recorded by Jiao have been leaked across social media platforms and private message groups. Many of the men featured were unaware they were being filmed and now find themselves the subject of viral exploitation. The leak has had severe consequences for some, with reports of broken relationships and psychological trauma. On platforms like Weibo and Douyin, users have expressed fury and disbelief at how such an operation could go undetected for so long.Online, Jiao has become known as 'Uncle Red' or 'Sister Hong' (Red Sister), a nickname that references both his alias and the red light often visible in his room during the recordings. The nickname took off as netizens began circulating screenshots and speculation about his real identity. Despite efforts by platforms to remove the videos and censor discussions, the story continues to trend. Memes, breakdowns of his digital footprint, and unverified victim accounts have turned the case into one of the most widely discussed topics not only on Chinese social media but also on global Instagram and Twitter this month. As police continue to interview more potential victims, public health officials are urging those who may have encountered Jiao to get tested to prevent further spread of the disease.

PO on the mic: Singer who called govt house a jail busted after 10 years

1 2 Chandigarh: Declared a proclaimed offender in 2016, Sirsa resident Jagsir Singh evaded police for nine years by constantly changing his location and identity. However, his run ended with a dramatic revelation on Wednesday — he is Punjabi singer Baaz Sran, who just two months ago released a song likening a 'Sarkari Kothi' (govt residence) to a jail. In an irony of sorts, the lyrics of the song 'Sarkari Kothi' — which has 13 lakh views on YouTube — go: 'Jattan di sarkari kothi hundi jail kuddey (The official residence of Jatts is jail, lady).' Sran, who has 32,600 followers on Instagram and has sung duets with female singers like Deepak Dhillon and Gurlez Akhtar, was arrested by the Chandigarh zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the alleged seizure of 36kg opium in 2015. Sran hails from Malikpura village in Haryana's Sirsa district. An official privy to the case said Baaz himself penned the lyrics and composed his songs. In May 2025, NCB published Jagsir's details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on inputs received thereafter, he was arrested on Wednesday, the NCB said in a statement. The statement added: "During his absconding period, he gained popularity as a singer on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing millions of views under a different identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Donating Plasma May Boost Your Income SpellRock Undo " At the time of his arrest, Sran was accompanied by a woman, said an official. The official added that a co-accused in the opium seizure had already been convicted. The official added that though Sran had was facing a drug seizure case, he did not consume them. "He is a fitness freak. He had just finished running and was exercising when we nabbed him. While he was involved in the drugs case and promotes drugs and weapons in the songs, he himself does not consume drugs," added the official. 'Sarkari Kothi': A song about life of crime In the song 'Sarkari Kothi', Baaz Sran has also penned lyrics about facing charges under the Arms Act and an 'attempt to murder' charge against him. The lyrics go: "25, 54, 59 laggi naal 307 de ni, jail diyaan baahlian likhiyaan karman vich jatt de di (I have been charged with sections 25, 54 and 59, along with Section 307. A long stay in jail is written in Jatt's fate)."

Actor Darshan, Pavithra ask SC not to cancel bail in murder case

Bengaluru: Actor Darshan and co-accused Pavithra Gowda urged Supreme Court to uphold the bail granted to them by Karnataka high court in the sensational Renukaswamy murder case. The apex court had reserved its verdict after a lengthy hearing on Karnataka govt's plea seeking to cancel their bail. In his written submission, Darshan (accused no. 2 in the case) argued that bail should only be revoked in cases of serious violations, none of which apply to him. "Cancellation of bail is a harsh step that curtails personal liberty and shouldn't be taken lightly," his plea stated. The actor said he hadn't breached any bail conditions and there was no evidence against him when he was arrested in Mysuru for a crime that allegedly occurred in Bengaluru. He insisted the crime scene narrative was constructed using handpicked witnesses while key individuals present at the shed on the day of the murder — such as Vijay, Basavaraj and others — were curiously left out by the prosecution. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Accounting Help Made Simple legal directorate Learn More Undo He also highlighted procedural delays, including a three-day gap before the inquest and postmortem were conducted, allegedly due to identity issues. In her written submissions, Pavithra Gowda, accused no. 1, said no exceptional circumstances exist to cancel the bail granted to her. Countering their arguments, the govt pointed to Darshan's post-bail behaviour: He was seen socialising with Chikkanna, a witness, after being granted bail. Further, although he received exemption from court appearance on medical grounds in April (citing back pain), he was spotted at a film screening the very next day. 5th suspect held in Ramya case Cybercrime police arrested 23-year-old Manjunath from Koppal in north Karnataka on charges of sending abusive messages to actor Ramya. Police said Manjunath, a daily- wage labourer, sent her the message from his Instagram account, forever_crickte_lover. This is the fifth suspected to be arrested in the case.

High Court takes BIG decision on Kohli's RCB teammate Yash Dayal in minor's rape case

Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal. (PIC - X) New Delhi: The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed a stay on the arrest of Virat Kohli's RCB teammate, fast bowler Yash Dayal in the case of the rape of a minor girl. What were the rulings of the High Court? The court held that as the victim is a minor, no interim relief is possible to the accused cricketer against arrest. Justice Sudesh Bansal hearing the case in Jaipur also ordered the case diary and fixed the next hearing on August 22. What did Yash Dayal's attorney say? Yash Dayal's lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, in the course of the hearing contended that the case was a part of a bigger conspiracy to tarnish the image of the cricketer. He contended that the same case of rape had previously been lodged in Ghaziabad, which was stayed by the Allahabad High Court. 'Just seven days after that, another FIR was registered in Jaipur. A gang seems to be involved in blackmailing by filing such cases,' Yash Dayal's lawyer alleged. What is the Jaipur case? But Sanganer police station in-charge Anil Jaiman revealed the Jaipur case details, adding that the complainant, who was a minor at the time of the incident, had met Yash Dayal while watching a cricket match. She then blamed Yash Dayal for sexually assaulting her nearly two years ago on the assurance of assisting her in her cricket career. The police also said Yash Dayal raped the girl for the second time in Sitapura hotel, Jaipur, during the season of IPL 2025 after the girl was invited to the room by Yash Dayal. Since the girl was 17-years-old at the time of the first rape, an FIR was registered under Sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Interestingly, Dayal had earlier created a commotion by claiming to have posted communal content on his Instagram handle two years back. He later clarified that while two contentious reports were posted from his account, but he did not post them from his account.
