BJP MP Ravi Kishan seeks regulation of food prices, uses samosa to make his case
Pointing out the lack of uniformity in the prices and quantities of food items across the country, Kishan said, "Dal Tadka is available for Rs 100 at some outlets, Rs 120 at others, and Rs 1,000 in some hotels."Ravi Kishan's demand stirred a row, with Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput mocking the BJP MP and asking if he could also speak up to regulate the highly-priced samosas at "airports run by PM Modi's friend Gautam Adani." Coming to Kishan's defence, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said that the Congress is not interested in the business of the House, as they are mocking an issue of public interest."Their sole focus is to create noise, disrupt proceedings, and deliberately obstruct the House. Those who have made such behavior a habit are naturally surprised when genuine public interest issues are raised," he said."Are issues like samosas or food stalls not related to public interest? Mocking such matters and making them a subject of ridicule—how appropriate is that?," he further questioned.- EndsInputs from PTI

Rudy, who is contesting against his party colleague Sanjeev Balyan for the post of secretary (administration), Constitution Club of India, was at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament House when he saw Banerjee leaving the premises. Rudy approached Banerjee, a four-time MP from Serampore, seeking his vote but the latter shouted at him that he would not support anyone who is backed by Moitra. 'You are supported by Mahua Moitra. I will not vote for you,' Banerjee told Rudy. As the stunned BJP leader looked at him, Banerjee announced that he 'would warn everyone who is friendly' with Moitra to stay away from him. GOP's House map overhaul: Texas governer Greg Abbott orders arrest of Democratic lawmakers who fled state; session remains halted
Texas Republican governor Greg Abbott (Image credits: AP) Texas Republican governor Greg Abbott on Monday ordered state authorities to arrest dozens of Democratic lawmakers who fled to Illinois in an effort to block a Republican-led congressional redistricting vote, intensifying a political standoff that has brought the legislative session to a halt. 'To ensure compliance, I ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to locate, arrest, and return to the House chamber any member who has abandoned their duty to Texans,' Abbott said. 'This order will remain in effect until all missing Democrat House members are accounted for and brought to the Texas Capitol,' he added as quoted by The New York Post. — GregAbbott_TX (@GregAbbott_TX) The walkout by 51 House Democrats prevented the Texas legislature from reaching the two-thirds quorum required for a vote, stalling a special legislative session called by Abbott. The session was aimed at advancing redistricting plans, providing disaster relief for recent Texas floods, and banning THC, the main psychoactive compound in marijuana. 'Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty to Texans,' Abbott said in a statement. 'By fleeing the state, Texas House Democrats are holding hostage critical legislation to aid flood victims and advance property tax relief. There are consequences for dereliction of duty.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Barranqueras: Unsold Sofas Prices May Surprise You (Prices May Surprise You) Sofas | Search Ads Search Now Undo The Texas house ofrepresentatives voted 85-6 on Monday to approve a motion calling for the Democrats to return. House Speaker Dustin Burrows then directed the chamber's sergeant at arms 'to send for all absentees … under warrant of arrest, if necessary.' Most of the absent lawmakers traveled to Illinois, where dozens joined Democratic Governor JB Pritzker on Sunday night at the DuPage County Democratic Party headquarters. Roughly half a dozen other Democrats joined New York Governor Kathy Hochul in Albany on Monday. 'If that's what's called for, that's what's called for,' Hochul said of the decision to leave Austin. She went on to call Abbott 'un-American' and accused him of 'rigging' the next congressional election for the GOP, reported The New York Post. 'To subvert the will of the people, they're hellbent on rigging the system. Rigging the system is un-American. Congressional districts are never drawn mid-decade,' she argued. The redistricting proposal, supported by President Trump, could net Republicans up to five additional seats in the US house of representatives—potentially expanding the GOP's narrow majority in the 2026 midterm elections.

Was drawn to Guruji's fiery speeches: Arjun Munda
Jamshedpur: Prominent politicians from Kolhan on Monday paid rich tributes to Shibu Soren and recalled their first meeting with him. Former CM Arjun Munda , who started his political career with JMM before switching to the BJP, said he was drawn to Shibu in the 1980s. "The charisma of Disom Guru Shibu Soren was like a magnetic pull, which drew me closer to his agitation, against the money lenders and land grabbers, as a schoolboy in the 1980s," he said. Recalling that his family too was a victim of land sharks, Munda, a former Union minister, said a fire was kindled in him as a young boy when he heard about Shibu, a man from Santhal Pargana, who was taking the pain to ensure that adivasi land is not grabbed by crafty money lenders "I physically first saw Guruji during a public rally in Telco area of Jamshedpur, where thousands of Adivasis had gathered to hear their leader, who promised to fight for their rights. I was so motivated by his speech that I decided instantly to join the movement under the leadership of this long hair-bearded man in kurta pajamas, who by that time had become my hero," said Munda. "After joining his movement as a student, I along with many others used to move from village to village in dense forest areas in night, then Chotanagpur of undivided Bihar, to escape the eyes of police and powerful money lenders and apprise the locals of their land rights, along with how to save it from the land sharks. He also recalled the infamous Gua massacre of Sept 8, 1980, when 13 innocent tribal agitators fell to the bullets of Bihar Military Police, which became a big turning point of separate Jharkhand state call. "After the Gua incident, it became a do-or-die call for Adivasis under Guruji, for a separate state from Bihar," said Munda. Former Ghatshila MLA Surya Singh Besra, another of Shibu's students, recalled that he was against the tribal people consuming liquor. "Under his guidance and leadership as a student functionary of JMM, I travelled far and wide in rural and forest areas of present Kolhan, to make locals realize how money lenders laid a trap by offering them alcohol in exchange for their land," he said. It was Besra who formed All Jharkhand Students' Union in 1986 under Shibu's directives with an aim to motivate students to join the agitation for a separate state for the tribal communities.
