Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik flagged off mountaineer Kabak Yano's seven-summit expedition from the Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
Parnaik handed over the ceremonial ice axe with flags of India and the logo of Arunachal Pradesh to Yano in the presence of state sports minister Kento Jini.
He also presented financial assistance for her mission, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan said.
In his address, the governor described the moment as a significant occasion, a true celebration of courage, conviction and the indomitable spirit that dares to dream beyond boundaries. He said very few across the world have taken on the formidable challenge of the seven-summit mountaineering expedition, a mission to conquer the highest peaks on all seven continents.
He applauded Yano's bold decision to embark on this extraordinary journey.
Extending best wishes, Parnaik said Yano carries with her the blessings of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the dreams of a new generation, and the spirit of a state that is resilient, peaceful, and unstoppable. He urged her to show the world the strength, grace, and tenacity of a daughter of Arunachal. In a special gesture of appreciation for her earlier feat of scaling Mount Everest, the governor presented Yano with the 'Land of Rising Sun' plaque, honouring her as a beacon of inspiration for the entire state.
Sports minister Jini, in his remarks, highlighted the dedicated efforts of the state govt to promote sports and games, with a special focus on adventure sports.

1 2 Jaipur: Vivek Jain of Jaipur hoisted the Indian flag on Europe's highest peak Mount Elbrus on Kargil Day (July 26). Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and Europe. It is 5,642 metres above sea level, and is the highest volcano in Eurasia, as well as the tenth-most prominent peak in the world. With the help of Rajasthan State Sports Council, Vivek Jain accomplished the feat. Dr Neeraj K Pawan, secretary to government, youth affairs and sports department and chairman, Rajasthan State Sports Council helped Vivek Jain, who was provided financial assistance by the RSSC, which helped him to complete his mission. Vivek, who took training from National Institute of Mountaineering in Pahalgam, Kashmir, said that there are five institutes of mountaineering in India, all of which work under the Army. There are seven contingents in the world. In which the tricolour flag was hoisted on the highest peak. There was a team of 11 people in this expedition, of which he was a member. Sameer Patham, who conquered Mount Everest, had taken this team. Before this, Vivek had conquered the peaks of Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
