The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been announced. Additional terms of the deal weren't immediately available.
Correa spent his first seven years in Houston, where he became one of the most beloved players in franchise history, helping the team to six playoff appearances, three American League pennants and its first World Series title in 2017 — a title tainted by a sign-stealing scandal. The top pick in the 2012 amateur draft and 2015 AL Rookie of the Year was part of the homegrown core that helped the Astros go from the league's laughingstock to perennial contenders.
Correa has exclusively played shortstop in his 11-year MLB career but will almost certainly move to third base for the AL West leaders with shortstop Jeremy Peña close to returning from the injured list. The Astros need help at third base with All-Star Isaac Paredes out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.
Charismatic and an unquestioned leader in the clubhouse, Correa could help galvanize a team that has managed to remain atop the division standings despite dealing with multiple injuries to both its lineup and pitching staff.

August 2 - J.P Crawford hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Seattle Mariners rallied to defeat the visiting Texas Rangers 4-3 Friday night. Dominic Canzone drew a leadoff walk and Crawford lined a 2-0 fastball from Robert Garcia (1-6) over the right-field wall to give the Mariners the walk-off victory. Eduard Bazardo (5-0) pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the victory. The Mariners opened the scoring in the second inning. With one out, Eugenio Suarez reached on an infield chopper and Jorge Polanco lined a single to right, putting runners at the corners. A walk to Canzone loaded the bases before Rangers starter Jack Leiter fanned Crawford. Rookie Cole Young walked to bring home Suarez, but Leiter struck out Randy Arozarena to get out of the jam with no further damage. Aug 2 (Reuters) - Kenny Bednarek stormed to the men's 100 metres title at the USA Track and Field Championships on Friday in a personal best time of 9.79, while Melissa Jefferson-Wooden clocked the joint fifth-fastest time in history to take the women's crown. Paris Olympics 200 silver medallist Bednarek edged out Courtney Lindsey (9.82) and T'Mars McCallum (9.83) in Eugene, Oregon, with all three set to join defending champion Noah Lyles at the world championships in Tokyo in September. Lyles had pulled out of the semis to focus on the 200. "I would say it's about damn time," Bednarek said. "I've been second for a very long time. I always knew that I had the ability to win it but I just had to believe in myself. And this year I really started living up to my expectations."
