According to him, fluency in AI tools is already becoming a key factor in employability. 'People who really are at the frontier of using AIs are going to be way more employable than people who are not. That's guaranteed to happen,' he said.

His warning is clear. Adapt or fall behind.
The clock is ticking on human adaptability
Srinivas believes the pace of change in AI is now outstripping how fast most people can keep up. With new developments rolling out every few months, he thinks this technological churn is forcing an uncomfortable reality on workers across industries.
Live Events
'Human race has never been extremely fast at adapting,' he said. 'The field is moving in cycles of three to six months.'
The message is not just about learning new skills. It's about constantly reskilling. Staying still could mean getting left behind.
Jobs will be lost. But that's not the end
Not everyone will make the transition. Srinivas is realistic about that. Some jobs will vanish, especially those tied to repeatable tasks.
But he also sees a possible route forward. People can either become builders, using AI to create new companies, or they can learn enough to contribute meaningfully to the ones already adapting.
'Either the other people who lose jobs end up starting companies themselves and make use of AIs, or they end up learning the AIs and contribute to new companies,' he said.
It's not just a theory. Others in the AI space share this concern.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has warned that up to 50 percent of entry-level white-collar jobs could disappear in the next five years. Geoffrey Hinton, often referred to as the 'godfather of AI,' has echoed this, saying AI will replace many tasks that rely on routine thinking.
Still, there are some who remain hopeful. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang argues that AI will not erase jobs entirely but rather change the way work is done.
Recruiters may be replaced by a browser
Srinivas gave a sharp example of what AI can already do today. On The Verge's Decoder podcast, he explained how Perplexity's Comet browser could potentially automate the entire job of a recruiter.
'A recruiter's work worth one week is just one prompt: sourcing and reach outs. And then you've got to do state tracking,' he said.
But it doesn't stop at just finding candidates.
'You want it to keep following up, keep a track of their responses. If some people respond, go and update the Google Sheets, mark the status as responded or in progress and follow up with those candidates, sync with my Google calendar, and then resolve conflicts and schedule a chat, and then push me a brief ahead of the meeting. Some of these things should be proactive. It doesn't even have to be a prompt,' he added.
He suggested that tools like Comet, combined with more advanced models like GPT-5 or Claude 4.5, could completely change how routine office work is done.
Comet is still behind a paywall, for now
At the moment, Comet is only available to paying subscribers. However, Perplexity has started sending out invitations to free users. A wider rollout is expected soon.
Still, not everything will be open access.
In a Reddit AMA, Srinivas confirmed that while the browser would be available to all eventually, more complex agent-driven features will likely stay behind a subscription wall.
Who is Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas?
Aravind Srinivas was born in India in 1994 and studied computer science before co-founding Perplexity AI. His company is focused on building conversational AI search tools designed to give direct, clear answers.
His broader message is that AI is not just a tool. It's becoming a professional necessity.
For Srinivas, those who understand and use it early will be in control of the future job market. Those who don't may end up struggling to stay relevant.

Land acquisition prep begins for Patna-Purnia expressway
Patna: Revenue and land reforms department has started preparations for land acquisition across six districts — Vaishali , Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Madhepura and Purnia — for the Patna-Purnia Greenfield Expressway project after receiving necessary clearances. Landowners will be compensated at market rates to ensure smooth acquisition and avoid potential disputes. Revenue and land reforms department's additional chief secretary Deepak Kumar Singh has written to all six district magistrates (DMs), instructing them to proceed with preliminary notifications after obtaining approval from the Central Valuation Committee. The directive came following a high-level meeting chaired by chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena recently, according to the officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). An NHAI official said Singh, in his letter to the DMs, told them to conduct a revised valuation of land based on the prevailing market price in the area, as per Section 26 (3) of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, before initiating the process. "In this context, prohibition, excise and registration department has been granted the authority for special revision of MVR (minimum value registered) under Sub-rule 7 of the Bihar Stamp (Amendment) Rules, 2013, in light of the notification," said the official. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like അപൂർവ്വയിനം റോസാ വിത്തുകൾ: വേഗത്തിലുള്ള ഡെലിവറി Rare Climbing Rose Seeds Learn More Undo He added the 90m-wide greenfield expressway will be built with an estimated cost of Rs 18,042 crore till Chandbhatti village on Purnia-Kishanganj NH-27. The Patna-Purnia expressway will also intersect with Amas-Darbhanga road in Vaishali and connect with Patna Ring Road at Dighwara. "A total of 21 big and 140 small bridges, 11 ROBs, 21 interchanges and 322 underpasses will be built under the project. At the request of the state govt, spurs will be constructed to connect the cities of Samastipur, Saharsa and Madhepura to this project. The designated speed limit on this route will be 120km per hour. The state govt has appointed a competent authority for land acquisition," the official said. The project will also provide connectivity to Bihta Airport through a bridge between Dighwara and Sherpur, and eventually link to Darbhanga and Purnia airports. Once completed, the expressway will reduce travel time between Patna and Purnia by half from at least seven hours to three-four hours.

Difficult to project FY26 disinvestment mop-up at the moment: MoS for finance
The government on Monday said it is 'difficult' to anticipate the precise amount of its disinvestment proceeds this fiscal, as the process hinges on a number of factors, such as administrative feasibility, market conditions, economic outlook and investor interest. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, minister of state for finance Pankaj Chaudhary said the FY26 budget estimate of Rs 47,000 crore under miscellaneous capital receipts indicates total mop-up from the government's management of equity investments and public assets through various mechanisms, and not just disinvestment.
