Veteran filmmaker David Dhawan is celebrating his 74th birthday, and wishes for the director have been pouring in on social media. Mrunal Thakur, who is working with David Dhawan in the upcoming comic caper 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' (HJTIHH), penned a heartfelt birthday wish for him. She thanked him for giving her this opportunity, and said that he made the sets feel like home. She called it an honour to be David Dhawan's 'heroine'.
On Saturday, Mrunal Thakur took to her Instagram stories and shared a picture of David Dhawan. 'Happy Birthday #DavidSir! You have given me an opportunity, when not many saw me in the same space! Everyday on set you made me believe in my screen presence and you made the sets fell like home, full of fun and love! It has been an honour to be your heroine and a blessing that I am working with this legend. Sending you the tightest hugs on your special day!" she wrote. Check out her Instagram story below!
A few months ago, Mrunal also shared a picture with David Dhawan from the sets of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai during the Glasgow schedule. 'Still pinching myself! Guyssssss I'M DAVID DHAWANS HEROINE ! I'm beyond grateful Sir," she wrote.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stars David Dhawan's son and actor Varun Dhawan. Produced by Ramesh Taurani under the Tips Films banner, the film also features Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Chunkey Panday, Rakesh Bedi, and Ali Asgar. The film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2026.
Meanwhile, in other news, Mrunal Thakur recently hit the headlines after an old interview resurfaced in which she appeared to take a dig at Bollywood star Bipasha Basu. The video showed a young Mrunal calling Bipasha 'manly with muscles' and stating she was far better than her. After facing massive backlash, Mrunal issued an apology over the 'silly' remarks she made as a 19-year-old.
'19-year-old me as a teenager said many silly things. I didn't always understand the weight of my voice or how much words, even in jest, could hurt. But it did and for that I am deeply sorry. My intent was never to body-shame anyone. It was playful banter in an interview that went too far. But I understand how it came across, and I truly wish I had chosen my words differently," she wrote.
