The film is described by Universal Pictures as a 'mythic action epic' and is being filmed at Findlater Castle overlooking the Moray Firth.
As well as A-list celebrities, set pieces including Viking-style ships have been seen in the area. Mid Lothian Council
Nicolette Pavlides, a lecturer in Greek Art and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, spoke about the accuracy of the pieces, saying the ships made her chuckle.
'The boats were interesting, from looking at the images, they don't look like what Greek ships looked like at the time the story was composed or set,' she told STV News.
'I've heard Nolan doesn't like using CGI much, so he might be using these models that are available rather than that, but the ships at the time of the poems would be very different-looking ships; it made me chuckle.'
Ahead of the film's release, Universal Pictures released a picture of Matt Damon, who will play the main protagonist Odysseus, in costume. Universal Pictures
Ms Pavlides said the uniform also doesn't accurately represent the period of the story and looks more like a warrior from the classical period.
'The story is supposedly set around 1200 BC, and during that time, warriors looked very different. We know they wore boar tusk helmets from archaeological discoveries,' she said.
She added that it's hard to say for definite how the armour should look, but said it will be familiar to the audience.
'I think for this film, the Hoplite armour is how the audience would expect it to look. It's not accurate about what archaeologists would depict, but what the audience would expect, which is probably why the director chose it.'
Ms Pavlides said Nolan chose to film scenes in Scotland because of its 'rugged beauty.'
'The story is an epic journey around the Mediterranean, filled with monsters and an unknown, wonderous world outside of ancient Greece and into the wilderness.' Adobe Stock
'I do think that Scotland's rugged coast and striking landscape give you a global perspective, and give the director the chance to create an immersive environment beyond normal Greek landscapes,' she added.
'The dramatic landscape it offers complements the adventurous nature of the story, it's a way to show the adventurous spirit of The Odyssey.'
Nolan's adaptation is slated to premiere in cinemas in July 2026.
The film boasts an ensemble cast jam-packed with stars including Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.

All Neighbours spoilers for next week as fan-favourite leaves amid affair
Neighbours is lining up an emotional farewell for Byron Stone (Xavier Molyneux) next week. With the actor lined up for an exciting new Viking-based drama, the residents of Ramsay Street must bid Byron goodbye as he heads off for pastures new. But the tearful swansong leaves open a new chapter for Sadie Rodwell (Emerald Chan) and Taye Obasi (Lakota Johnson). When an ultimatum is dealt concerning their relationship, where will they end up? There's new drama down at the Lassiters Complex when Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) clashes with Nell Rebecchi (Ayisha Salem-Towner), and a kiss between Cara Varga-Murphy and her amnesiac wife Remi (Naomi Rukavina) could change their dynamic forever. Elsewhere, when another two residents lock lips – kickstarting an affair – there's bound to be heartbreak from each corner of Melbourne's favourite cul de sac. Here's a look at next week's Neighbours… Down at the pavilion, Andrew is enraged following his altercation with Gavin Bowman, and he soon shares another charged interaction with a thankful Holly. When he takes his feelings out on Rhett, Aaron's left troubled, and gathers that there's clearly something troubling him. Holly, meanwhile, apologises to Max for her hard stance with Saskia, as the small rift between them both continues to grow. She's left disappointed when Andrew tells her that Bowman is leaving, and therefore he won't have to protect her anymore. It's time for Byron (and Trevor the dog) to bid farewell, and he does it in true Erinsborough style – with a barbecue! Everyone gathers to wish him well, while Byron also takes time to set the record straight with Taye. He warns him to take care of Sadie, before sharing a tender farewell with her. It's clear that they only want the best for one another. Taye, however, is unimpressed to learn that Sadie is using a dating app. He decides to see how she'd react if he told her he used it too, and is disappointed to find she's largely unbothered. He finally spells it out to Max how much he likes Sadie, and he offers a solution: tell her. Boosted by the advice, he deals a shocking ultimatum – he wants a proper relationship, or nothing at all. Sadie thinks Taye is joking, and when she realises that he's being serious, explains that she's not looking for anything exclusive. He insists that they stay casual, but it soon becomes evident that his heart isn't in it. When she later checks in on him, he admits that he isn't doing great but doesn't want things to be awkward. To make matters worse, when Max goes to see Sadie, she's clearly coping a lot better. Unsure of where to navigate the situation, Sadie resolves to give Taye a wide berth for now. At the hotel, Paul is in boss mode and is determined to make Lassiters' upcoming initiatives a roaring success. He continues to stoke the rivalry between Annalise and Krista, his no nonsense approach is starting to aggravate others. Nicolette isn't happy about his plans to implement a new uniform at Harold's, while Nell is infuriated by the fact he wants to turf the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation out of the Complex and down to the old shed. Its replacement? A luxury pop-up boutique for the Jewellery Expo. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Working together, Nic and Nell decide to lay down the law and sabotage a delivery of signage for the Expo, something which is noticed when the company's director arrives to do a recce. Krista, Annalise and Paul attempt to distract him, but are shocked to find the entire contents of the Foundation strewn across the Complex. Johan, the director, is seriously unimpressed, while Paul realises this is Nell's doing. Paul kicks off with Nell and Nic over their stunt, with Nell later expressing regret to Terese. She's confused how Paul can run hot and cold over their relationship, and also picks up on something fishy happening between him and Terese. Deciding to come clean, Terese admits that she doesn't want to split her time between Melbourne and New York, and Paul is surprisingly accepting. There's one condition though – he wants her to admit to Susan that Eirini Rising is in financial bother. Elsewhere, Annalise opens up to Krista about her ex-husband Sam, and the two reflect on the past with a mutual understanding over Paul's behaviour. That night, when enjoying a drink in The Waterhole, she invites Leo to join her. He agrees, unaware that she has absolutely no idea who he is. Annalise starts to come onto him, and he's forced to clarify his identity. She's mortified, and Leo rushes off to tell Krista about the incident. But when Annalise also drops by, they decide to brush it off. On Ramsay Street, Remi extends an olive branch to Cara following some advice from Susan. Dex and JJ plan a romantic dinner, but Cara doesn't want to scare her wife off. The two then settle down to eat and surprisingly hit it off with an anecdote about their life together. However, when Cara misreads the signals and leans in for a kiss, Remi is horrified. Remi thinks she can't trust Cara, who is giving herself a hard time for making a mistake and offers a heartfelt apology. Regardless, Remi thinks they need some space. JJ and Dex are blindsided by the fact their Ma' wants to remove 'Murphy' from her name. They see it as a form of rejection, and rush off to see a distracted Cara, who is struggling with work. She sees red, and lashes out at Remi for being so inconsiderate to the boys. Later, Remi confides in Susan and Terese about failing as a parent, and opens up about the difficulties of remembering her life to everyone else around her. As an amnesia sufferer herself, Susan advises her to give herself time and wait for things to fall into place. Elsewhere, Wendy hears from Terese and Aaron that Andrew has been out of sorts recently, and she decides to make a new piece of jewellery dedicated to him. The romantic gesture is just the ticket, and they're intimate for the first time in months. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Prince George's 'specific dietary request' sees Royal superyacht tender return to mainland
Young Prince George reportedly requested a 'specific dietary item' while sailing with his family between Greek islands Prince William and Kate Middleton's family holiday yachting in the idyllic Greek islands supposedly had an un-royal food request from Prince George. During the family's sailing holiday on a superyacht last month, the future king's eldest son reportedly had a specific dietary request from a particular restaurant on a Greek island. This very particular request was made as the royals left Kefalonia and were sailing south towards Zakynthos, before making a stop in the middle of the Ionian Sea. One of the tender boats was dispatched on a mission to pick up a meal possibly from a famous fast food restaurant for the young prince. It comes after Princess Charlotte sparks frenzy with behind-the-scenes photos from Lionesses' win. A member of the superyacht crew was reportedly dispatched out for a "specific dietary item" not available on the superyacht. A tight-lipped source revealed why one of the tender heads travelled back to the mainland, according to the MailOnline. They said: "George required a specific dietary item which led to the tender going ashore in Zakynthos to purchase it. Nothing extravagant, just something particular." This source did not reveal exactly what was picked up for the prince but Zakynthos is one of the few Greek islands to have a McDonald's on the mainland. The young royal could have ditched the luxury meals on the superyacht for a Big Mac or chicken nuggets and fries. While it is not clear what Prince George's specific request was, some of the royals have been known to enjoy some fast food favourites most people also dig into. Princess Diana was known to sometimes give Prince William and Prince Harry KFC and burgers when they were growing up. Some of Prince George's favourite meals have been revealed in the past, as celebrity chef Aldo Zilli let slip what the young royal's top dinner picks were after a chat with dad Prince William. Zilli shared: "[William's] amazing - I'm waiting for the call because apparently his little boy's favourite is spaghetti carbonara, so I'm waiting for the call to go and cook it for him." The chef added: "If George has my carbonara, he will never have another one, so I need to go and make it, let's get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook." It's not just spaghetti carbonara that tickles Prince George's taste buds, the Princess of Wales has said that he and Princess Charlotte enjoy making a 'cheesy pasta' together at home, reports the Express. In February 2019, Princess Kate, 42, visited a school in Enfield, north London, and spoke to Ivy Learning Trust's chief executive Matthew Kleiner-Mann. He said: "She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her. "They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff."

The Avengers star is in the city to shoot scenes for the latest instalment of the masked web-slinger's story. The eagerly awaited sequel, officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will see Tom Holland reprise his iconic role. It is believed that Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has been cast to star alongside Holland. And over the last few days, Bothwell Street in the city centre has been transformed into downtown New York. Crews working on the big-budget Marvel movie spent the sunny Saturday prepping an intense stunt involving a TANK after filming officially started on Friday. And today, Holland was spotted in his iconic Spider-Man suit walking along the streets as crews prepared to film more scenes. He was seen chatting to director Destin Daniel Cretton and other members of the production team as they walked across the set. They then began filming a chaotic car stunt, which saw Spider-Man standing on top of a tank as it flew down Bothwell Street. Three New York-style police cars followed in hot pursuit as they sped down the road with their lights flashing behind him. Extras on foot were seen running and surrying up the pavement in a panic guided by actors dressed in police costumes. Spider-Man 4 starts shooting in Glasgow as Hollywood film swings into city A huge scaffolding structure safety rig was set up around the tank for Spider-Man to be harnessed in as he stood on the roof. He was attached to cables, which kept him steady as the vehicle sped down the street. It comes after crews filmed a huge chase scene yesterday which saw cars thrown into the air. A huge crowd lined the bottom of the street as a black film car raced ahead of the tank as it rumbled down the road. A taxi and a van attached to hydraulic ramps were thrown into the air as the war machine sped past, with punters gasping in excitement as the vehicles were left suspended in the air. A high-tech drone with a camera attached was zooming overhead to get aerial shots of the stunt. The tank then came to a screeching halt at the bottom of the street. There were some cheers and applause after the stunt ended, bringing some excitement to both movie fans and people going about their day. In later scenes, a stunt double for Tom Holland was spotted on top of the tank as it sped along the street. TOP FILMING LOCATION THE flick has brought movie-fever to Glasgow once again, with some punters dressed as Spider-Man putting in an appearance. Holland, 29, returns as the titular character, with real-life girlfriend Zendaya, 28, as Michelle Jones "MJ" Watson, Jon Berntha, 48, portraying The Punisher, and Charlie Cox, 42, as Daredevil. Filming is set to move further along into Merchant City after Wednesday, August 13, with scenes are also expected to be shot on Glassford Street and Virginia Street. It is just the latest lot of filming taking place in Glasgow. Earlier this year, Hollywood hunk Glen Powell filmed scenes for sci-fi flick Ghost Writer on Bothwell Street. It is his second time in the city in a year, as he filmed on the exact same street for the remake of 80's hit Running Man in November. World War Z, which starred Brad Pitt, 61, previously used George Square to represent Philadelphia, while the city was also transformed into Gotham City for Batgirl and The Batman. And the Merchant City got turned into 1960's New York for a parade chase scene in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Glasgow is starting to resemble the Big Apple for Tom Holland's latest MCU appearance. Historic street signs have been covered with decor from Manhattan. Hot dog carts and newsstands are scattered among the streets. American adverts for flats to rent and insurance firms are even plastered over buildings on the street. Movie vehicles are also being stored on West Campbell Street. The road is lined with an ambulance and New York Fire Department pick-up truck. There are also scores of iconic New York yellow taxis and NYPD police cars. 7 Filming is currently taking place on Bothwell Street Credit: PA Media 7 Yesterday, locals watched as crews filmed a huge chase scene Credit: Splash 7 Tom Holland's stunt double was seen filming scenes yesterday Credit: Splash
