Cabinet expansion: CM, PCC chief to visit Delhi on June 4
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud are likely to visit Delhi on June 4, to discuss Cabinet expansion and PCC executive with the party high command.
With a few Ministers not being included in the newly appointed PCC's Political Affairs Committee (PAC), there is a buzz in the political circles that the new Cabinet will have at least two to three Ministers replaced with new ones. This has added to further uncertainty even as different caste leaders competing for the Cabinet berth. Presently, the cabinet has four from Reddy community, two each from BC and SCs, one each from Brahmin, Kamma, Velama and ST, totalling 12, including Chief Minister. According to party sources, as the issue gets delayed, more and more legislators stake claim. With the case of Madiga MLAs being the latest instance who are now making their efforts to meet the AICC top brass, even BC legislators demand for their rightful share.
The MLAs representing SC community have in recent months emphasised that Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha does not belong to Madiga community, but sub-caste (Mochi), trying to bury the argument that they have a representative in the Cabinet. Chief Minister and PCC president B Mahesh Goud during their last visit to the national capital were asked to discuss the matter in Delhi to finalise the names on May 30. But this has been reportedly postponed to June 4.
On May 26, in an attempt to reduce the speculation, Mahesh Goud who briefed the media in Delhi clarified that this time the AICC has reached a conclusion and the Cabinet expansion proposal has been approved by Rahul Gandhi.

Punjab Cabinet clears Rs 68-crore loan waiver for 4,727 SC families
The Punjab Cabinet Tuesday approved a proposal to waive loans amounting to Rs 67.84 crore taken by over 4,700 Dalit families from the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCFC). The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, decided that loans disbursed till March 31, 2020 will be waived. Talking to the reporters after the meeting, Mann said Finance Minister Harpal Sigh Cheema in his budget speech in March had promised to waive the debt. 'With the Cabinet approval, the promise will now be fulfilled,' he said. 'This marks the beginning of relief and dignity for thousands of families who have been burdened by debt for years. A total of 4,727 families will directly benefit as these loans were given to help them start their livelihoods by opening small businesses like dairy farming, grocery shops, tailoring, boutiques, wooden furniture work, building material or hardware shops, leather goods manufacturing, education loans, or restaurants,' said Mann. The CM said that these loans were given before 1995. 'These families could not repay their loans due to circumstances such as the main earning member passing away, prolonged illness consuming all their savings or having no other source of income left. As recovering these loans from such people was unjust, so the state government has decided to waive them off,' Mann said. Cheema, who was also present at the media briefing, said the debt had been pending for the past 20 years and added that neither the Congress nor the Akali Dal-BJP governments of the past cared for SC families when they were in power. 'The full amount of Rs 67.84 crore comprising Rs 30.02 crore in principal, Rs 22.95 crore in interest, and Rs 14.87 crore in penal interest will be reimbursed to the PSCFC by the state government. The cut-off date for calculating the final interest amount will be the date on which the government issues the notification to implement the scheme,' said Cheema. Later, an official spokesperson of the chief minister's office said that the loan waiver covers all loans disbursed by the PSCFC, offering significant relief to SC and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) loanees. All 4,727 cases (including 4,685 defaulting loanees and 42 regular loanees) will be covered under this loan waiver scheme. No due certificates will be issued by the district managers of the PSCFC. Loanees who have previously availed benefits under earlier waiver schemes are also eligible for coverage under this initiative. No recovery proceedings will be initiated against loanees under PSCFC loan regulations post-waiver. Their accounts will be considered fully settled as of the cut-off date. However, loanees who filed court cases against the Corporation will not be eligible unless they unconditionally withdraw their cases and provide documented proof. As per the 2011 Census, Scheduled Castes constitute 31.94 percent of Punjab's total population. Many members of this community availed loans from PSCFC to establish self-employment ventures aimed at their economic upliftment. However, some borrowers have been unable to repay their loans due to circumstances beyond their control, leading to defaults, said the spokesperson. The PSCFC is a trusted institution established in 1971 that has been providing low-interest loans to the Scheduled Castes community.

CM urges all depts to be on high alert
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy put the city police, Traffic, HYDRA and GHMC wings on alert to prevent traffic and other problems during heavy rains in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister also ordered the officials of the four departments to work in coordination and press the emergency wing teams into the service, ensuring they are available round the clock to tackle the situation in the rain hit areas. He inquired about the progress of the water harvesting well works taken up at the identified 141 water logging points in Hyderabad and suggested to take adequate measures to pump out rainwater which enters the harvesting wells by using automatic pumps. The officials were instructed to take immediate preventive measures as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast in the state. A new system should also be developed at the Command Control Centre to monitor the intensity of rains and floods regularly. Expediting the completion of pending drainage and desilting works, identification of the problematic areas and preventive measures was also discussed in the meeting. The CM instructed the officials to prepare plans in advance and pay special attention to prevent floods and submergence in the Core Urban Region located inside the Outer Ring Road. In view of the fast development of the Core Urban Region, CM Revanth Reddy suggested a special policy for the expansion and development of tanks, canals, and roads within the region.

100-day action plan begins: Revanth shifts focus to ULBs
The 100-day action plan initiative got an inspiring start on Tuesday with a record 36,900 citizens joining hands in a spirited rally spanning over 250 km, marking a bold step towards transformation Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has now shifted focus to streamlining administration in urban areas. Following his directions, the Municipal Administration Department has launched a 100-day action plan with emphasis on improving urban governance, public health, environmental sustainability, and citizen engagement across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). According to officials, the key objectives of the action plan include enhancing solid waste management and sanitation systems, ensuring monsoon preparedness through critical civic infrastructure improvements, driving behavioural change and community participation through extensive IEC (information education and communication) campaigns on solid waste management, promoting urban greenery and beautification efforts for cleaner cities, conducting a comprehensive Bhuvan Survey for identification of unassessed and under-assessed properties in ULBs and bring them in tax net. The officials said that the 100-day action plan initiative got an inspiring start on Tuesday with a record 36,900 citizens joining hands in a spirited rally spanning over 250 km, marking a bold step towards transformation. The official said that products of 280 self-help groups were assembled for display-cum-sales at stalls across ULBs, which generated a revenue of Rs 3.94 lakh. From local residents to public representatives, bureaucrats, SHGs, NGOs, etc everyone marched together with a mission 'cleaner, healthier and more resilient urban areas'. The activities proposed to be taken up in the ULBs include campaign launch and IEC drive focusing on awareness through media rallies, door-to-door outreach, de-siltation of storm water drains and removal of debris to prevent water-logging, waste segregation and c omposting at household level, supported by audits and community outreach, updation of water connections and taking up Bhuvan Survey for improved municipal records and enforcement, improving water quality and ensuring mosquito control through chlorination, oil balls, and gambusia fish release, launching Vana mahotsavam, avenue plantation, and Shramadanam, development of at least 1 junction, park and inauguration, training programs for staff and newly formed ULBs to enhance capacity, kalajatha activities, competitions and waste-to-art exhibits. The official said that the plan was a strategic step toward building cleaner, healthier, and more resilient urban areas. By combining infrastructure, innovation, and involvement, it would reinforce Telangana's commitment to sustainable urban development through a people-first approach.
