Ramesh Sharma is first certified drone instructor of Rajasthan Police
JAIPUR: In a first for the Rajasthan Police, Ramesh Sharma, posted at the Intelligence Training Academy (ITA) in Jaipur, became the force's first certified drone instructor. The police aim to strengthen technical capabilities by establishing a drone research centre and forensic lab at the ITA.
Sharma cleared the Remote Pilot Instructor Course conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt of India, in New Delhi on his first attempt. Officials noted the significance of this feat, citing the course's low pass rate of just 22%.
The initiative was led by Director General (Intelligence) Sanjay Agrawal in view of increasing drone activity along Rajasthan's international borders and also because of the ongoing plans to strengthen technical capabilities by establishing a drone research centre and forensic lab at the ITA.
Sharma, who also heads the IT cell at the academy, was selected for the specialised training programme in New Delhi.
According to police officials, the DGCA's Remote Pilot Instructor Course is mandatory for those who wish to train other drone operators.
Additional SP Shalini Saxena of the ITA said that the course equips instructors to work at certified Remote Pilot Training Organisations (RPTOs), allowing them to legally train drone pilots in line with DGCA norms.
Sharma's appointment is seen as a milestone in enhancing the force's in-house technical proficiency.

Towel, Shaver & Australian Address: Courier For Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Raises Alarm
The parcel, reportedly sent by a woman, may have been a test run to check whether a delivery could successfully reach Bishnoi inside the high-security jail A mysterious parcel from Australia, addressed to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi at Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat, has triggered concern among Indian security agencies. The package was intercepted at a foreign post office in Gujarat, which handles international shipments to and from the state, and has since become the subject of a multi-agency probe. The parcel was reportedly sent under the name Vandana Gaur, with an address in Australia that is now believed to be fake, according to intelligence sources. Curiously, the contents of the package—a towel and a strong shaver—were ordinary, which only deepened suspicions. Officials are questioning why someone would send such commonplace items from abroad, suggesting the parcel may have been a test run to check whether a delivery could successfully reach Bishnoi inside the high-security jail. What has further raised eyebrows is the fact that the sender reportedly paid around Rs 7,000 as international parcel charges, a considerable sum given the low value and easily available nature of the contents. This has added to suspicions that the shipment may have had an ulterior motive beyond what is visible. This isn't the first time such an attempt has been made. Sources say a similar incident occurred earlier in a different state, pointing to a possible pattern. Meanwhile, in a related crackdown, the Rajasthan Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Aditya Jain, a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi–Rohit Godara gang, from Dubai. Jain is accused of acting as a 'control room" for the gang—coordinating extortion rackets and issuing threat calls on behalf of the network. Bishnoi, despite being lodged in Sabarmati Jail, continues to operate his criminal syndicate using VPNs and mobile phones, according to investigators. His name has come up in several high-profile cases, including the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, threats to actor Salman Khan, the killing of a gym owner in South Delhi, and most recently, the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Born into a well-off agricultural family in Dhattaranwali village in Punjab's Ferozepur district, Bishnoi belongs to the Bishnoi community, prevalent in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. He moved to Chandigarh in 2010 for college, where he joined DAV College and later became president of the Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) from 2011 to 2012, marking the beginning of his descent into organised crime. Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 1 (ANI): A day after National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a massive search operation at 15 locations in eight states across the country in a Pakistan-linked espionage case, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma highlighted BJP government's 'zero tolerance policy' over national security and said 'we don't feed 'biryani' to these people' 'The BJP government's work with zero tolerance when it comes to issues related to national don't feed 'biryani' to these kinds of people in Bungalows in Delhi. Their place is fixed in jail...,' Sharma told reporters. Searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in the states of Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam and West Bengal. NIA teams have seized several electronic gadgets and sensitive financial documents, along with other incriminating materials, during the searches. These are being extensively examined for clues to the espionage racket being run by Pakistan-based operatives as part of an anti-India terror conspiracy. As per NIA investigations, the suspects targeted in the searches had connections with Pakistani operatives, and acted as financial conduits for carrying out espionage activities in India. NIA had registered the case on May 20 following the arrest of an accused person who had been sharing sensitive information with PIOs since 2023 and had received funds through various conduits in India in lieu of leaking classified information related to national security. The anti-terror agency is continuing with its investigation in the case, registered under sections 61(2), 147, 148 of BNS 2023, sections 3 & 5 of the Official Secrets Act 1923 and section 18 of UA(P) Act 1967.
