No unity in oppn, DMK alliance will win 2026 polls: Thiruma

and parties lack unity while on the other hand the DMK-led alliance is strong and poised to win the
2026 assembly elections
comfortably.
Responding to a question, the VCK MP said that only the DMK-led camp could be considered a proper alliance, whereas other alliances, such as the BJP-AIADMK, have not reached that stage yet.
Claiming that there is a lack of clarity within the opposition on multiple fronts, the MP said he was unsure whether the BJP-AIADMK alliance, along with other NDA partners, would even continue as a coalition in Tamil Nadu.
"PMK, which is part of the same alliance, has not clarified its stance or officially announced which team they are in yet. Nobody knows what DMDK is up to. It is also unclear what stand Vijay is going to take.
As a result, there are no common issues or goals to unite the opposition and form a united alliance," he said.
When asked about Congress MP P Chidambaram's recent remarks on the INDIA bloc 'losing strength' to take on the BJP at the Centre, Thirumavalavan refrained from directly commenting on Chidambaram's statement. However, he said, "As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the INDIA bloc is strong and is also acting as a guiding force for the coalition."

C Balakrishna – Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cubbon Park), responsible for the area surrounding the stadium, was suspended following the identification of lapses in managing the crowd and ensuring public safety. A K Girish – The Circle Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station was suspended for his alleged direct involvement in the on-ground management of the event, where his actions were deemed inadequate in preventing the stampede. K Govindaraj – He has been relieved from the post of political secretary to the Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah with immediate effect, as per a state government notification. 'The appointment of K Govindaraj as Political Secretary to the Chief Minister is hereby revoked with immediate effect. Accordingly, K Govindaraj is hereby relieved from the post of Political Secretary to the Chief Minister with immediate effect," an official notification said. Hemant Nimbalkar – The Karnataka government on Friday transferred Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Hemant Nimbalkar without a new posting for allegedly failing to coordinate with the police to manage the crowd outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Meanwhile, an FIR was registered on Thursday against the RCB franchise, event manager DNA Entertainment, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) management, and others. The case is now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Subsequently, four individuals were arrested in connection with the stampede, including Nikhil Sosale, a top marketing official of the RCB. Among those arrested are key members of the event management firm DNA Entertainment Private Limited, including Sunil Mathew, the Vice President who oversees IPL events for the company, along with Kiran and Sumanth.

India and Germany discuss joint role in ensuring global peace and security
Berlin: The all-party Parliamentary delegation from India led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday held a productive interaction with Omid Nouripour, Vice-President of Bundestag, the German Parliament, deeply appreciating Germany's strong and unequivocal support for India's principled stand against terrorism. The delegates conveyed India's firm response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and briefed about Operation Sindoor, reiterating the country's zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Later, the delegation also met Bundestag's Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee Armin Laschet and other members and former ministers, including Ralph Brinkhaus and Hubertus Heil.
