Potential Kevin Durant to Spurs Trade Gets Major Update on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
As the NBA offseason nears, the main storyline entering it is where Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will land.

The Suns are expected to move on from Durant this offseason after they had another disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.
It is clear that Phoenix is looking to rebuild their roster around Devin Booker as they try to become title contenders once again.
With Durant likely to be on the move, there have been many teams linked to the future Hall of Fame forward but one team has stood out above the rest.
That team is the San Antonio Spurs, who are Durant's preferred landing spot this offseason according to The Athletic.
Of course, the Spurs have built a solid young core of Victor Wembanayama, Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox and they also hold the second overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Because of this, they could elect to make a move for Durant to chase a championship in the coming seasons, though ESPN's Shams Charania's recent report suggests that may not be the case.

According to Charania, the Spurs could hold off on Durant and keep their tradeable assets to go after a bigger star.
'I think they're going to really be stocking their assets for potentially a bigger move, a bigger player, someone who may fit their timeline,' Charania said.
This is a massive report by Charania and one that is not too surprising, especially with Durant being 37 years old while the rest of San Antonio's roster is still young.

Because of Durant's age, the Spurs could elect to hold off on making a trade for him this offseason and instead wait for a bigger name to enter the trade market that better fits their timeline around their young core.

With this report by Charania, it appears the Spurs could be out of the Durant sweepstakes as the Suns may now have to look elsewhere to move on from their star forward.

Fever Coach Stephanie White Refuses To Let Caitlin Clark Answer Question

Fever Coach Stephanie White Refuses To Let Caitlin Clark Answer Question originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever moved to 2-0 since Caitlin Clark's return from injury, defeating the Connecticut Sun 88-71 on Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Advertisement And things got pretty heated in the one-sided battle. Midway through the third quarter, Clark and Sun guard Jacy Sheldon got into it after Sheldon accidentally fouled Clark in the face. Marina Mabrey came to her teammate's defense, shoving Clark to the ground. Even though Clark walked away from the situation after hitting the deck, the referees still handed her a technical foul, her second of the season. Mabrey and Tina Charles were also assessed technicals, while Sheldon was given a flagrant. Sheldon later picked up her second flagrant with under a minute left in the game after she and Sophie Cunningham got into it, leading to a big scrum between both teams. Sheldon, Cunningham and Lindsay Allen were all ejected. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) and head coach Stephanie White look on during a Ruszkowski-Imagn Images After the win, both Clark and White joined the media for a postgame press conference. A reporter proceeded to ask Clark, "Was there an explanation you were given for the technical that you got?" Advertisement White stepped in and interrupted her star point guard, preventing Clark from answering the question and choosing to respond herself instead. "I'll take the (WNBA) official questions," White commented. "There wasn't an explanation for the technical she got. I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing..." Meanwhile, as White was sharing her answer, Clark looked to the side and started shaking her head. Clark finished the night with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, six rebounds and two steals. Natasha Howard added a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. With the win, the Fever move to 6-5 on the season and advances to the Commissioner's Cup championship game. Chicago Sky's Statement on Kamilla Cardoso Draws Attention

Chicago Sky's Statement on Kamilla Cardoso Draws Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Angel Reese is well on her way to what should be her second straight WNBA All-Star Game. Despite the Chicago Sky's poor start to the season--they are currently 3-7 and have the third-worst record in the league--Reese has been an absolute force for her team. Advertisement In 10 games played thus far, the 6-foot-3 forward has averaged 10.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals in 29.7 minutes per game. Another key player who has had a significant role for the squad this season is fellow sophomore Kamilla Cardoso. The 6-foot-7 center has been Reese's partner in the frontcourt, and there's no denying that these two represent one of the most promising frontcourt pairings in the entire WNBA. This is exactly why the Sky believe Cardoso deserves a spot in the All-Star squad alongside Reese. On Monday, the team took to social media to urge the fans to vote for the former Syracuse and South Carolina standout. "⭐️VOTE KAMILLA CARDOSO⭐️she dropped a career-high 23 PTS earlier this season and continues to be a FORCE in the paint. ALL-STAR HER‼️" the team posted on Instagram. Advertisement View the original article to see embedded media. In 10 games played this season, Cardoso has averaged 10.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists. She's been a central figure as Chicago's starting center, which should be the case for Cardoso the rest of the way. The fans on social media have voiced their reaction to the team's plea, and it is clear that they, too, strongly believe that Cardoso deserves an All-Star nod. "Let's get milla her first all star appearance 👏🏾" a comment on Instagram read. "She has my vote young queen kamilla ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️" said another. "I vote Milla & Angel every day," declared a supporter. Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso (10) during a Gorski-Imagn Images "Vote & Vote & Vote then VOTE SOME MORE!" a reaction read. Advertisement "Of course we voting for Killa!!" another said. "Kamilla so underrated we need to get her in that game," demanded a fan. Voting will be open through June 28, which means that Sky supporters still have a lot of time to try and get Cardoso in the big game. The 24-year-old has a lot of competition across the league, though, which means that her fans will need to work hard to get her to Indianapolis for the All-Star Game. Sun Coach Justifies Marina Mabrey's Actions Toward Caitlin Clark

Sun Coach Justifies Marina Mabrey's Actions Toward Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has had a bumpy start to her second WNBA season, missing five games due to a left quad strain. Advertisement However, on Tuesday, the Fever were able to secure a second-straight win with Clark back in the lineup, defeating Rachid Meziane and the Connecticut Sun 88-71. Clark finished the game with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, six assists and two steals. The Sun's Marina Mabrey, on the other hand, had one of her worst games of the season, finishing with six points and eight rebounds. But the two stars were involved in a heated altercation that stole headlines. With 4:48 remaining in the third quarter, Clark had the ball and was attempting to dribble to her left before taking a shot to the face from Connecticut's Jacy Sheldon. The former Iowa star took exception to this, slightly shoving Sheldon in response. Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin ClarkTrevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images But Mabrey had her teammate's back, walking over to Clark and shoving her to the ground right in front of the referee. While the commentators thought Mabrey would be ejected, the referees just handed her a technical, along with Clark and Tina Charles. Sheldon received a flagrant. Advertisement After the game, Meziane spoke on the viral exchange from Tuesday's game, justifying Mabrey's decision to shove Clark. "She just tried to be between two players," Meziane commented. "The ref has to do their job to clean the game, and make sure that the best team won the game and not just who is more physical." While Fever coach Stephanie White may not agree about Mabrey's intent, she does agree on the poor officiating. "I've seen quite a few dust-ups in the league so far, so I think it's a league-wide issue," White said. "Bad officiating is bad officiating." With the win, the Fever advance to the first Commissioner's Cup Championship in franchise history, facing Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx on July 1.
