SAMS Odisha +3 Admissions: Deadline for UG courses extended
The decision was taken as the state Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) is yet to declare the results of the class 12 final examinations. Also, the state government recently decided to provide 11.25 per cent reservation to SEBC students in undergraduate courses, and eligible candidates are yet to get their certificates, officials said.
'The timeline for e-Admission into all (+3) Degree Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including Self-Financing Colleges and Sanskrit Colleges of the State under SAMS, has been extended to 1st June 2025,' the Higher Education Department posted on X.
The earlier deadline was May 20.
The Higher Education Department advised applicants in the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) category to obtain a valid caste certificate from the competent authority and keep it ready for admission.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said the results of the class 12 final examinations will be announced in two days.
'We will also ensure that the students do not face any problem in admission into the degree courses,' he said.
A total of 3.91 lakh students had appeared for the exams conducted by the CHSE.

Maperum Tamil Kanavu programme held in Salem
To create awareness among the younger generation about the Tamil heritage and its history, the Maperum Tamil Kanavu programme was held in a private college in Salem on Thursday. The event has been organised in 200 colleges across Tamil Nadu, reaching out to approximately two lakh students from 2,000 colleges. The Chief Minister, who participated in the 100th event, announced that this event will be held every year. Based on the announcement, the events are being conducted from this month. The aim of this programme is to pass on the glory of Tamil culture and the challenges it faced. This programme is being conducted in 200 colleges across Tamil Nadu under the topics of literary richness, Tamil antiquity, social equality, women's development, archaeological studies, industrial development, educational revolution, etc., the DRO added. Around 1,000 students from various colleges participated and booklets on Tamil Pride were distributed to the students. Assistant Collector (Training) Vivek Yadav, Salem Revenue Divisional Officer A. Abinaya and officials from various departments participated.

Collector launches Tamil promotion drive at Annamalai university
CUDDALORE: District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the 'Tamil Dream - Tamil Heritage and Culture' promotion programme at Annamalai University, Chidambaram. 'Among the world's flourishing cultures, Tamil culture stands foremost in its richness and heritage. To convey its greatness and the challenges to students, the Tamil Virtual Academy, in collaboration with the Higher Education Department, has been conducting the Great Tamil Dream Heritage and Culture Promotion Programme in previous years. Following the Tamil Nadu CM's annual programme announcement, this programme is being conducted among college students on behalf of the Higher Education Department and the Directorate of Collegiate Education.' Siddha doctor K Sivaraman delivered a special lecture, stating, 'This programme aims to create awareness among college students about Tamil heritage, culture, ancient traditions, linguistic excellence, equality, and socio-economic progress, guiding Tamil youth towards their future goals and building a prosperous society. 102 high schools get upgraded to higher secondary level in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR: As many as 102 high schools in the state under the School and Mass Education department have been upgraded to higher secondary schools. School and Mass Education minister Nityananda Gond on Wednesday informed that these schools will start functioning from the new 2025-26 academic session. Upgradation of the schools to higher secondary level has been recently approved by the Ministry of Education's Project Approval Board (PAB) for Samagra Siksha for the 2025-26 academic session. Of these schools, 28 will be offering science streams and six commerce. The rest of the higher secondary schools will have arts stream. Gond said this will help a large number of students who had to travel longer distances to pursue higher secondary education. 'Such children who did not have the scope to pursue Plus II within their areas, can now do so in their local school. Most of these upgraded schools are in rural pockets of the state. This way, the children will receive quality education under the government's comprehensive education system,' he added. During the last session, 74 high schools in the state had been upgraded as higher secondary schools by the PAB.
