Deluxe Hires Industry Expert Brian Mahony as Merchant Services President
Deluxe, a trusted Payments and Data company, proudly announces the appointment of Brian Mahony as President of its Merchant Services business, effective February 3, 2025.
Mahony brings more than two decades of experience in the fintech and payments space. He most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer at Elavon, a subsidiary of U.S. Bank, where he led the marketing, revenue management, and distribution teams. Prior to that role, he served as Chief Financial Officer for the company, a role he had occupied since 2019. Earlier at Elavon he served as head of product and strategy.
'Brian brings not only deep industry knowledge to help further accelerate our merchant business, but also the broader business and strategic vision to help grow our company overall,' said Barry McCarthy, President and CEO of Deluxe. 'He exemplifies our core values of grit and perseverance. His leadership, organizational and strategic efforts at Elavon were pivotal in maintaining that organization's strong growth trajectory. Those experiences will greatly benefit Deluxe as we continue to scale our merchant and payments offerings.'
'I am excited to join Team Deluxe,' said Mahony. 'I'm honored to be part of the remarkable Deluxe transformation. The company's sterling reputation, high customer satisfaction and deep payments and data offerings provide a great platform for growth. I'm proud to lead the Merchant business and join this storied company.'
Mahony will replace payments industry icon Debra Bradford, who late last year announced her retirement, effective March 31, 2025. Bradford has been part of First American Payments System, now Deluxe Merchant Services, since 2001, and has served as president since the Deluxe acquisition in 2021.

This Fast Food Chain Makes the Best Burgers (and You're Sleeping on Them)
Jollibee, a fast food restaurant with a cult following, is no doubt most famous for its chicken (and peach mango pies, if you ask me). But the brand recently launched Angus burgers that give the heavyweight chains a run for their money. I, a food editor, headed to the nearest location to try all three of them, plus the standard burgers (which are thinner, smaller and not made with Angus beef), to see if I could taste the difference in quality. Read on for my honest takes, original photos and overall ranking. (Note: Prices are rounded to the nearest half-dollar. Pricing and item availability may vary by location.) The 14 Best Fast Food Fries, Ranked by a Food Editor Taryn Pire What Is It: Angus beef, smash-seared on the grill and topped with melted cheese, grilled pineapple, crispy bacon, green leaf lettuce and aloha dressing on a butter-toasted bun Price: $9.50 Full disclosure: I'm not a bacon-on-my-burger type person. (Generally, the simpler the toppings, the better—in my book, anyway.) However, I thought its smoky, salty notes played well with the sweet-and-sour pineapple. There was a brown sugar-y like char on the fruit that offered tasty contrast and an intriguing aroma to the burger, which starred a very crisp patty. Learn more Taryn Pire What Is It: Angus beef, smash-seared on the grill and topped with melted cheese, pickles, red onion, Roma tomatoes, green leaf lettuce, ketchup and signature sauce on a butter-toasted bun Price: $6.50 If you're someone who gets a cheeseburger with all the fixings at places like Friday's or Chili's, the Deluxe is the way to go. With more produce to offer crisp, cool contrast to the meat and cheese, it was balanced, satiating and photogenic. Personally, I think the tomato and lettuce were superfluous, given how tasty the rest of the burger was (more on the sans-veggie version below). But this was as good, if not better than, any fast casual or chain resto. Learn more Taryn Pire What Is It: Angus beef, smash-seared on the grill and topped with melted cheese, pickles, red onion, ketchup and signature sauce on a butter-toasted bun Price: $6 This was basically the perfect smash burger, complete with crisp, craggy edges and an all-around sear. I didn't love the slightly neon color of the burger sauce, but I enjoyed its tangy, mustardy flavor. The Angus patties were thicker than the standard burgers (read on for details) and very beefy, savory and rich. I loved the range of textures between the crisp onion, the crunchy, sour pickles and the luscious cheese-topped beef. The sauces also brought plenty of tang to the party. Learn more Taryn Pire What Is It: beef patty with melted cheese and signature sauce on a bun Price: $5 Don't get it twisted: The Angus burgers are a step up in quality, but the beef in Jollibee's Yumburgers is genuinely scrumptious. It has an oniony, sweet-and-savory quality that may conjure memories of Salisbury steak or meatloaf. With cheese, the consistency is super creamy and rich. Think backyard burger, minus the char, on a soft, fluffy bun. Learn more Taryn Pire What Is It: beef patty with signature sauce on a bun Price: $4.50 I've never ordered a cheese-less burger in my life. But alas, duty called—and I was very pleasantly surprised. The sauce's slightly sweet edge played beautifully with the seasoned beef, which was tender and surprisingly juicy throughout. The TLDR? You can't go wrong with a Jollibee burger, Angus or not. Award-Winning Custom Car Builder Finds Solutions and Growth With U.S. Bank
Originally published on U.S. Bank company blog Dave Loparco has been interested in building and taking things apart since he was a kid. 'I've been building cars since I was probably 13 years old,' said Loparco, who co-founded Later Dayz Customz in 2018 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. 'I used to work on bicycles, tear them apart. I never was happy with a bike I had… and it kind of escalated from there.' That escalation took Loparco from working on hot rods and motorcycles in his driveway to a garage space that takes up half a city block, giving him space to work on everything from the guts of cars to custom paint work. Each car and truck is a passion project for Loparco's customers, he said, but it can be expensive. 'Everybody's like, 'Can I throw it on my credit card?'' said Loparco, who has banked with U.S. Bank for decades. 'At first, I was like, there's no way I possibly could but then BJ hooked me up.' BJ Pirie is a small business specialist with U.S. Bank. He helped Loparco set up a credit card processing machine at his shop through Elavon, a U.S. Bank payments subsidiary, to make it easier for Loparco to accept payments as well as cover the cost of parts needed for vehicles quicker. 'Being able to have money on hand from his customers accepting cards instead of waiting for a check to clear or potentially bounce, Dave has more security and peace of mind,' Pirie said. 'Having just one payments terminal was impactful to him and allowed him the flexibility he needed to grow his business.' Loparco, who became 100% owner of Later Dayz Customz last year and whose team has hundreds of car show awards to their name, is also thinking about the future. That might be an expansion into nearby Omaha in a few years, he said, but he's also thinking about what could be next for his industry. 'I'd like to bring in about another five employees to train them and teach them what we know [in the next couple of years],' said Loparco, not long before a local high schooler he and his team are teaching arrived at his shop. 'Nobody knows our talent unless we pass it on, so – by passing it on to the younger generation – hopefully it keeps these cars around.'
