American superstar Dave Chappelle is coming to Abu Dhabi Comedy Season

It's time to have a laugh in the capital. Abu Dhabi Comedy Season is about to begin with a lineup that includes Trevor Noah, Kevin Hart, Jo Koy and Pete Davidson. Now, the comedy superstar Dave Chappelle has joined the party and will perform at Etihad Arena on Friday, 27 June.
Dave hails from Washington DC, United States. He grew up in Maryland and was inspired by the comedians Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. He created and starred in the satirical show, Chappelle's Show. He also starred and produced Dave Chappelle's Block Party. He has appeared in the films A Star is Born, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and The Nutty Professor.
Over his career, he has won six Emmy Awards and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour. On Netflix, viewers can catch his comedy specials Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones, The Closer and The Dreamer. Plus, 8:46 was released after the murder of George Floyd, and explores violence against African Americans.
Dave Chappelle's comedic voice fuses raw personal insight with sharp social commentary, adding a bold, thought-provoking edge to American comedy. His fearless approach to tackling complex societal topics—balanced with sharp wit and disarming honesty—has earned him a devoted global following. He's also a six-time Grammy winner for Best Comedy Album.
Abu Dhabi Comedy Season is putting together a star-studded line-up. South African funnyman Trevor Noah will perform on 26 April. American actor and comedian Kevin Hart will perform on 2 May. Plus, the line-up includes Michael McIntyre on 10 May, Jo Koy on 29 May, Pete Davidson on 25 June and Bill Burr on 12 July. This is the second time Dave Chappelle has showcased his talents in Abu Dhabi, following a sold-out show last year in which he performed to over 14,000 people.
Tickets to see Dave Chappelle in Abu Dhabi are available via the Live Nation pre-sale from 8am on 15 April, and via general sale from 8am on 16 April.

Netflix 'Tudum' fan event reflects studio investment in global streaming
Netflix continues to add more live content for viewers hungry for real-time entertainment, including the Tyson vs. Paul boxing match, National Football League games and, most recently, the "Tudum" live fan event that showcased upcoming TV shows. "This is the first time we've done the show in this way, a live format," Shelly Gillyard, VP of Series Marketing for the US and Canada, told Reuters at the Netflix Tudum fan event last Saturday. "Previous years was on the ground fan activations," Gillyard added. Tudum is named after the sound that plays before each Netflix movie and series. For Netflix, is was important to ensure that they were incorporating talent from all over the world for the global fan event. More than 100 Netflix stars and creators appeared in the show hosted by actor Sofia Carson, who starred in the airport thriller Carry On. The first two Tudum events took place in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2020 and in 2023. However, for 2025, it was relocated to Los Angeles, California. The 2020 Netflix Tudum in Brazil drew 50,000 people in four days and the post-COVID numbers for the 2023 Brazil Tudum were 35,000. Gillyard said the live event could take place somewhere else in the future and Netflix is focused less on where it is held and more on making it available globally. With major titles like Squid Game, Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Emily in Paris, combined with a performance by Lady Gaga, the streamer capitalised on fan interest. One of the largest draws for viewers was the premiere date announcements for Emmy award-winning series Stranger Things. The livestreamed event revealed that Stranger Things will have a fifth and final season split into three parts, with part one on November 26, 2025, part two on December 25, 2025 and the series finale on December 31, 2025.

Singer-actress Lady Gaga stunned the audience when she pulled off a neat trick during her latest performance on stage. The singer brought the magic and dazzle to Netflix's Tudum. 'Wednesday' follows Jenna Ortega in the titular role of the psychic 'Addams Family' daughter in her time as a student at Nevermore Academy. The second season of the series, which debuted its hit first season in November 2022, will launch on the streamer in two parts set to drop on August 6, debuting with Part 1, while Part 2 will follow on September 3. The singer-actress has just finished playing a series of shows in Mexico, Brazil and Singapore. Earlier this year, she returned to Coachella as the headline act. She performed 'The Manifesto of Mayhem' and went on to include title cards for Acts I, II, III., IV and V. Alcaraz bludgeons Paul to reach French Open semis
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz steamrolled past American 12th-seed Tommy Paul 6-0 6-1 6-4 at the French Open on Tuesday with a jaw-dropping display of attacking tennis in one of the most one-sided men's quarter-finals in Paris in recent memory. Four-time champion Iga Swiatek, who is looking to become the first woman in the professional era to win four consecutive titles in Paris, also punched her semi-final ticket with a straight sets win over Elina Svitolina of Ukraine to set up a mouth-watering semi-final with world number one Aryna Sabalenka. But it was four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz's merciless dismantling of Paul that grabbed the fans' attention, with the 22-year-old Spaniard terrorising the former French Open junior champion who looked like a fish out of water. Alcaraz charged through the first two sets in just 53 minutes and in near flawless fashion, hitting winners at will and chasing down every ball before the shell-shocked American had any time to react. Paul pulled himself together to hold serve and go 4-3 up in the third but as the sun gradually went down over Paris so did the curtain on his inspired run, with Alcaraz winning three games in a row to put him out of his misery in just 94 minutes. "I could close my eyes and everything went in," Alcaraz said. "My feeling was unbelievable. I tried to hit the shots 100% and not think about it." "Today it was one of those matches where everything went in," he said. He will next take on in-form Italian Lorenzo Musetti who battled past American Frances Tiafoe in four sets after surviving a second-set wobble, to reach the French Open semi-finals for the first time. Three-time Grand Slam champion Sabalenka, hunting her first French Open crown, also needed just two sets to overcome Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen and snap her opponent's 10-match winning streak at Roland Garros with a 7-6(3) 6-3 victory. "I think we're all here for one reason," Sabalenka said. "Everyone wants that beautiful trophy. I'm glad I have another opportunity, another semi-final to do better than last time."
