Egypt's FM Heads to Norway to Attend Oslo Forum

The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdelatty, departed on Tuesday for Norway to participate in the Oslo Forum, scheduled to take place on June 11.
During his visit, the Minister is set to hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum to explore ways to strengthen Egypt–Norway relations and exchange views with senior international officials on key regional and global developments.
The Oslo Forum provides a platform for high-level dialogue and informal diplomacy among global leaders, mediators, and foreign policy officials.

Global Displacement Tops 122 Million
Israa Farhan The number of people displaced by war and persecution worldwide has surged to over 122 million, according to the latest report from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), highlighting a worsening crisis as international aid funding plummets to its lowest level in a decade. The agency's data, released Thursday, reveals that ongoing conflicts in countries such as Sudan, Ukraine, and Myanmar have forced more than two million additional people to flee their homes since the start of 2025. Despite the return of some Syrian refugees following the fall of Bashar al-Assad, the net number of displaced individuals continues to rise. Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, attributed the increase to the failure to resolve long-standing conflicts and the persistence of major wars. He described the current global landscape as one marked by severe disruption in international relations, shaped by modern warfare and severe humanitarian distress. UNHCR's report also warns that aid funding has dropped back to 2015 levels — a time when the global number of refugees was roughly half of today's figures. The organisation labelled this drastic cut in assistance as both "brutal and ongoing", stating it places refugees and vulnerable communities at significant risk. The agency stressed that current funding levels are unsustainable and could jeopardise life-saving services, especially for women and children. Oman to host US-Iran nuclear talks on Sunday: FM - Region
Oman said Thursday it will host a sixth round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran over the weekend amid escalating tensions between the long-time foes. "I am pleased to confirm the 6th round of Iran US talks will be held in Muscat this Sunday," Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in a post on X. Tehran and Washington have held five rounds of talks since April to thrash out a new nuclear deal to replace the 2015 accord that Trump abandoned during his first term in 2018. The announcement by Oman came just hours after President Donald Trump said US personnel were being moved from the potentially "dangerous" Middle East. Trump also reiterated that he would not allow Iran to have an atomic bomb amid mounting speculation that Israel could strike Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran threatened Wednesday to target US military bases in the region if conflict breaks out. Trump had until recently expressed optimism about the talks, but said in an interview published Wednesday that he was "less confident" about reaching a deal. Since returning to office in January, Trump has revived his "maximum pressure" campaign on Tehran, backing nuclear diplomacy but warning of military action if it fails. The US president says he has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off striking Iran's nuclear facilities to give the talks a chance, but has increasingly signalled that he is losing patience.
