In 2023, during one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan, filmmaker and producer Karan Johar recalled the very first time when Sidharth and Kiara crossed paths. Narrating the incident to guests Varun Dhawan and Sidharth, KJO recalled, 'I'll tell you where they met for the first time. We were wrapping…it was strange. It was serendipitous, or whatever the word is. We had just wrapped Lust Stories, where she shot that big scene."
Remembering the day, Karan stated that after wrapping up the shoot, they went to a friend's house for a birthday party. 'We all went there. There was Vicky, there was Kiara, there was me, and there was Neha Dhupia. And then Sidharth Malhotra called me, and I told him, 'We're at this party in Bandra. Why don't you come?' Not realising anything," Karan revealed, explaining his role as a cupid in Sid and Kiara's love story.
Sidharth Malhotra chimed in and shared more about the incident. 'I met Vicky, Kiara, and Amrit all together for the first time," Sidharth revealed. Then KJo went on, 'But at that party, you came. Somehow, you said, 'Okay, I will come,' which is not your personality. And that's where he met Kiara for the first time." Karan further clarified that he did not make the two lovebirds meet; it all happened eventually.
After their first meeting, the couple was then spotted on-screen for the very first time in Shershaah. Starring as each other's love interest, the palpable chemistry on-screen led to an off-screen romance. Although both Sidharth and Kiara kept their relationship away from the public eye, certain pictures of their secret getaways began surfacing, sparking dating rumours.
Finally, in a 2022 episode of Koffee With Karan, Kiara opened up about her relationship with Sidharth and shared, 'We're more than close friends."
