Meet Jannik Sinner's parents Johann and Siglinde: The quiet support behind Wimbledon champion's rise
Jannik Sinner's parents, Johann and Siglinde, supported their son's journey from skiing in the Italian Alps to winning Wimbledon and becoming world number one
Jannik Sinner's parents, Johann and Siglinde, have remained a steady presence behind the scenes throughout their son's rise to the top of men's tennis. Sinner, now the world number one and freshly crowned Wimbledon 2025 champion, is the first Italian in history to achieve the top ranking in men's singles tennis. However, at one point in his youth, Sinner appeared destined for a very different sport.
Growing up in the German-speaking region of Italy's snow-covered Dolomites, Sinner was deeply involved in skiing. His upbringing made this an expected path. 'The reason why I chose tennis was, in tennis you can make mistakes. You can lose points but you can still win the match,' Sinner told Vogue in 2024. 'In skiing, if you make one mistake, one big mistake, you cannot win.'

At the age of 13, Sinner made the difficult decision to leave his hometown for the Italian Riviera, enrolling in a tennis academy to pursue the sport full-time. He credits this ambition and discipline to the influence of his parents. At the time of Jannik's departure from home to chase his tennis dreams, his parents were working at a ski lodge, with his mother Siglinde employed as a server and his father Johann as a cook. Reflecting on those early days after winning the 2024 Australian Open, Sinner said, 'My parents are special because when I [came] back from school my parents were not there, they were working and I used to always go to ski. When I came back home at 4:30 my mom used to be at home but I went to play tennis sometimes, a little bit of [soccer].'
Although his parents regularly attend his matches today, Siglinde often chooses to watch from a distance due to nerves. During the Italian Open in Rome, she was spotted leaving after her son dropped the first set. When asked about it, she told Gazzetta: 'I left at the end of the first set. I'll take a stroll around here and wait for the match to end. I never watch Jannik's entire matches live; it rarely happens. I prefer to stay in front of the TV. Only in Turin did I manage to watch the final and a bit of the previous rounds. My husband stayed; he never has any qualms.'

The Sinner family now runs Haus Sinner, a guest house in their hometown, where Johann assists with the restaurant when not traveling to support Jannik on tour.'So they are always working and that's what I love about them,' Jannik said during a press conference in 2024. 'They're not changing anything with me. I'm a normal person who I was when I was a very young kid with a big dream and now I'm just 22 years old with still a big dream.'Johann missed this year's French Open final, which Jannik narrowly lost to Carlos Alcaraz, due to work commitments at home. 'My dad was not here because he was working today,' Sinner told reporters at Roland Garros after the match. 'Nothing of our success changes in the family.'

Who is Christian Coleman? Exploring personal details of Olympic sprinter following his girlfriend Sha'Carri Richardson's arrest
Christian Coleman. Image via: Jewel Samad/AFP via Getty Images As headlines swirl around Sha'Carri Richardson's recent arrest, much attention has turned toward her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman. He has made his status in the sprinting world as a towering figure in American track and field. Coleman's athletic prowess is undeniable. But who is the man at the center of this controversy, and what's the context surrounding the incident that briefly rocked the world of elite sprinting? Who is Sha'Carri Richardson's boyfriend, Christian Coleman? Christian Coleman is one of the fastest sprinters in the United States. The 29-year-old from Atlanta holds the world record in the 60 meters with an eye-watering time of 6.34 seconds, set in 2018. That mark remains untouched. He was also a key part of the U.S. 4x100m relay team that clocked 37.10 seconds in 2019, a national record. Though his name has sometimes flown under the radar compared to his flashier peers, Coleman's speed off the blocks is widely regarded as the best in the sport. In the current 2025 season, he ran 10.06 in the 100m, not his personal best, but still enough to place him among the top-tier sprinters globally, currently ranked 11th in the world. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Libas Purple Days Sale Libas Undo His 100m PR is 9.76 seconds, which places him firmly in the all-time elite. But recent headlines haven't focused on lane times or podium finishes. They've centered on something personal, even involving him. Christian Coleman's girlfriend, Sha'Carri Richardson, arrested after airport altercation Sha'Carri Richardson, the reigning 100m world champion and Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100m relay, was arrested on Sunday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. According to a police report, the 25-year-old got into an argument with Coleman, whom she's been dating for two years. The officer claimed that surveillance footage showed Richardson shoving Coleman multiple times and throwing what appeared to be headphones as he attempted to walk away. The altercation was labeled a fourth-degree domestic violence assault, but the case was quickly cleared. Coleman reportedly refused to press charges and 'declined to be a victim.' Despite the dramatic turn of events, both athletes were back on the track within days. Richardson posted her season-best time of 11.07 in the 100m prelims, while Coleman ran 10.08 in his heat. Though Richardson later withdrew from the 100m final — for which she already holds a bye into the World Championships — she has decided to run the 200m after initially saying she wouldn't. In an interview after her heat, Richardson seemed unfazed. 'Right now I'm cruising under the radar,' she said. 'But when it's time to hit — it's gonna be a bang where y'all see my name.'
