Reports: Dolphins, CB Jalen Ramsey agree to explore trade

Miami Herald15-04-2025
It appears cornerback Jalen Ramsey's time as a Miami Dolphin could be coming to an end.
The Dolphins and Ramsey have mutually agreed to explore trade options, according to reports.
The Dolphins extended Ramsey's contract this spring. Spotrac reported Ramsey's contract has $91.8 over four years remaining, including a guaranteed $21.5 million through 2025.
Ramsey, 30, came to Miami after the 2022 season in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. Ramsey missed the first seven games that season with a knee injury, but he still made the Pro Bowl for the seventh time.
After the 2022 season, Ramsey agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million extension that made him the league's top-paid cornerback, a designation since removed (Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. makes $30 million annually on his new $90 million contract).
Ramsey is currently due a guaranteed $25.1 million, but a new team would only have to pay him $21.1 million this season. That's because the Dolphins already have paid Ramsey's $4 million roster bonus.
A firm deadline for a deal does not exist, NFL Network reported Tuesday, but Miami is motivated to do a deal before the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel could use the draft to shore up their ranks a cornerback. Miami holds the No. 13 overall pick, and has nine additional selections.

Todd Monken defends Daniel Faalele against online criticism after one bad play vs. Colts

The Baltimore Ravens selected offensive tackle Daniel Faalele with the No. 110 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Faalele weighed 400+ pounds when he arrived in Baltimore, but has slimmed down to about 365-370 pounds. Following Baltimore's Tuesday morning practice, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken reacted to Faalele receiving online criticism for one play. Faalele was bull rushed on a play by Colts Adetomiwa Adebawore, who then dropped quarterback Cooper Rush for an eight-yard sack. After moving from offensive tackle to offensive guard, Faalele was named a Pro Bowl alternate after surrendering one sack and 30 pressures in 504 pass-blocking opportunities last season. In 2024, Faalele logged the 11th most offensive snaps in the NFL with 1,107 and the most run-blocking snaps at 529, playing 99% of the snaps on the season. Jets QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) out for preseason

New York Jets backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the preseason. The procedure, which was termed a "minor scope" by Jets coach Aaron Glenn on Tuesday, was to correct an issue that had kept Taylor on the sidelines for more than a week. "I don't think he'll be playing in the preseason," Glenn said after a joint practice with the New York Giants. "But, hopefully, he'll be ready for Week 1." The Jets open the regular season against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 7. Taylor is the No. 2 QB behind Justin Fields. The Jets also have UFL standout Adrian Martinez in the mix, as well as undrafted rookie Brady Cook. Cook limped off the field Tuesday, but Glenn said his injured ankle is not believed to be serious. Taylor, 36, began his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens and has played for the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, New York Giants and the Jets. He went 17-for-22 for 119 yards with three touchdowns in two games last season with the Jets. He has a career 28-28-1 record as a starter, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 2015 season. In 94 career games, Taylor has thrown for 12,254 yards and 68 touchdowns with 29 interceptions. He has a 61.9 percent completion rate. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved
