Jonnu Smith's agent updates contract talks with Dolphins
In a Sunday appearance on WSVN 7's Sports Xtra, Jonnu Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, shared an update on the ongoing contract discussions. Rosenhaus described the negotiations as "still fluid." "Nothing has been resolved yet. It's still an ongoing situation. I would say that it will be resolved I think by training camp, but it's still very active right now and nothing has been finalized at this juncture," Rosenhaus said. Advertisement Dolphins training camp will open next month at the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens. Despite the ongoing contract dispute and his recent holdout from mandatory minicamp, Rosenhaus has said previously that Smith's "dream team" is the Dolphins. "Here's what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu would definitely like to stay in Miami. That's his first choice. This is where he lives in the offseason. He had a record-breaking season last year. It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end. "His dream team is the Dolphins. Hopefully, everything works out where he can stay in Miami," Rosenhaus told the Miami Herald of Smith on June 1. Advertisement While Smith has been involved in Miami trade discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers, there remains optimism that Smith and the Dolphins can iron down a contract extension that satisfies both sides. Smith is currently set to enter the 2025 season on the back half of a two-year, $8.4 million contract that he signed with the Dolphins in March of last year. Smith set single-season Dolphins franchise records for a tight end in receptions (88), receiving yards (884) and touchdowns (8). Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa shared his stance on whether or not the Dolphins should pay Smith during minicamp. "Oh 100%, that's my guy. That's my dog. Jonnu has done really good for us. I have nothing bad to say about him. I love him as a person, too, outside of football. I think all of our guys that do what they need to do, they should get paid," Tagovailoa said last week. ‘Who you surround yourself with matters.' Jalen Ramsey's latest IG story is brutal
Jalen Ramsey made it clear that he doesn't want to be a Miami Dolphin. His latest Instagram story might've just doubled down even further. The seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback posted a photo of rotten oranges Thursday night alongside a caption that seemingly read as an indictment of the Dolphins as a whole. 'Who you surround yourself with matters,' the first part of the caption read, followed by a short inscription underneath the picture that said 'If you surround yourself with people who are okay with mediocre, you too will start to be okay with it... surround yourself with people who desire GREATNESS!' This post came a little more than a week after NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport first reported Ramsey and the Dolphins mutually agreed to explore a trade. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier later confirmed the report that same day. 'We decided that it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward,' Grier said April 15. 'I will say, these decisions aren't done quickly and they're not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade. So we went through the process and just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent that it was best to move forward and it was the best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.' Ramsey reportedly wants to play for a contender, according to Outkick's Armando Salguero. The Dolphins have spoken to the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles among others.

Reports: Dolphins, CB Jalen Ramsey agree to explore trade
It appears cornerback Jalen Ramsey's time as a Miami Dolphin could be coming to an end. The Dolphins and Ramsey have mutually agreed to explore trade options, according to reports. The Dolphins extended Ramsey's contract this spring. Spotrac reported Ramsey's contract has $91.8 over four years remaining, including a guaranteed $21.5 million through 2025. Ramsey, 30, came to Miami after the 2022 season in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. Ramsey missed the first seven games that season with a knee injury, but he still made the Pro Bowl for the seventh time. After the 2022 season, Ramsey agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million extension that made him the league's top-paid cornerback, a designation since removed (Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. makes $30 million annually on his new $90 million contract). Ramsey is currently due a guaranteed $25.1 million, but a new team would only have to pay him $21.1 million this season. That's because the Dolphins already have paid Ramsey's $4 million roster bonus. A firm deadline for a deal does not exist, NFL Network reported Tuesday, but Miami is motivated to do a deal before the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel could use the draft to shore up their ranks a cornerback. Miami holds the No. 13 overall pick, and has nine additional selections. -Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved
