Govt. not strengthening Panchayat Raj system, charges BJP chief
Addressing a meeting at Sriramnagar village in Moinabad mandal as part of the ongoing public contact programme taken up by the party, Mr. Rao claimed that development of villages and their welfare is possible only through the BJP once it comes to power to form a double engine government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced several schemes for the growth and prosperity of the villages, including providing free foodgrains, housing, gas connection, medical insurance, toilets, loans to self-help groups promoted by the womenfolk, supporting entrepreneurship and so on, he said.
The works under way in the villages like building of internal roads, farmers contact centres, toilets, streetlights, burial/cremation grounds, plantation activities and others, are being taken up through the funds disbursed by the Central government, claimed the BJP leader.
Mr. Rao has pointed out that the Centre has been disbursing ₹6,000 per acre to each farmer irrespective of the land holdings every year per acre under the 'Kisan Samman Nidhi', thereby providing direct financial assistance to them. The party chief instructed the cadre to ensure that the Centre's assistance to gram panchayats on various welfare and development schemes is propagated and taken to the people.
The former MLC appealed to the people to support the party candidates in the local body polls for a real change in the fortunes of the villages and the livelihoods of people.s

‘Unavoidable Reasons': Rahul Gandhi And Tejashwi Yadavs Joint Bihar Rally Postponed
New Delhi: The much-anticipated 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, originally scheduled to begin on August 10 in Bihar, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) officially announced the postponement through a letter (No. 168, dated August 4, 2025) issued by its state office, citing "unavoidable reasons" behind the decision. The death of a former Chief Minister of Jharkhand is believed to be the primary reason behind the deferment, sources said. The party has urged supporters and officials to consider the previous schedule cancelled until a new date is announced. The revised schedule of the yatra will be communicated in due course. As per the earlier plan, the first phase of the yatra was to commence from Sasaram in Rohtas district on August 10 and culminate in Narpatganj in Araria district on August 19, covering several districts across Bihar. Jointly organised by Congress and RJD, the yatra was being projected as a people's movement for voter rights and a direct protest against the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the Election Commission. The two opposition parties also planned to use this platform to attack both the Modi government at the Centre and the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar on various election-related issues. Leaders from both parties had termed the yatra as the beginning of their electoral campaign for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. It was designed not only to voice opposition to recent electoral roll deletions under SIR but also to galvanise support and re-energise the Mahagathbandhan cadre ahead of the polls. Party insiders said the announcement of the yatra had already created a buzz within the alliance, with grassroots workers and ticket aspirants gearing up to participate in large numbers. For many local leaders, it was a crucial opportunity to showcase strength and influence in front of top leadership Now, with the program postponed, political attention will shift to the rescheduled dates, which are expected to be strategically aligned with future election planning and regional developments.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan urges Telangana CM to hike wages of midday meal cooks
Hyderabad: Union education minister has urged Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy to consider increasing the honorarium of midday meal cooks working in govt schools across the state. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a letter to the CM on Monday, Pradhan also called for the implementation of guidelines under the Prime Minister Poshan Abhiyaan scheme. The move follows a recent meeting in Delhi where leaders of the Telangana midday meal cooks' association met with Pradhan and Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay. During the meeting, the association submitted a petition seeking an increase in wages and other benefits for the cooks. When the issue of pending central funds was raised, Pradhan clarified that all dues had already been cleared by the Centre. He assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with the state govt to ensure approval of any pending bills. The association also demanded that the monthly honorarium for midday meal cooks be increased to ₹17,000, and that they be brought under social security coverage, including ESI and PF benefits under labour laws. Pradhan said these requests would be taken into consideration and, as a first step, wrote to the CM stressing the importance of improving wages and welfare for the cooks.

Stop politics over use of Bangla across India
An inspector at Delhi's Lodhi Colony police station has caused a stir by requesting the West Bengal state guest house in the national capital to provide a translator for 'texts written in Bangladeshi'. In a more harmonious era, the matter could have been set aside with a guffaw over the inspector's own linguistic limitations. But at a time Bangla speakers are being rounded up in various BJP-ruled states and deported on mere suspicion of being illegal immigrants, calling Bangla the 'Bangladeshi national language' in an official letter cuts deeply. The case for which a translator's services were sought is itself about eight people suspected of being illegal immigrants. It's a travesty that someone writing an official letter does not know the name of the country's second largest language. Bangla is not only one of the 22 official languages enshrined in the Constitution's Eighth Schedule; last year, the Union government also listed it as one of the country's 11 classical languages, whose criteria include high antiquity, textual heritage and original tradition. Rabindranath Tagore not only wrote the national anthems of India and Bangladesh, but he also inspired Sri Lanka's.
