Euphoria star looks totally different as they transform into boxer for new film
Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney looked unrecognisable after transforming into professional boxer Christy Martin for the upcoming movie, Christy. The Anyone But You star rose to fame on Euphoria as Cassie and went on to star in the likes of Madame Web, Immaculate, and The White Lotus.
Sydney went for a completely different role for Christy, where she plays the titular character. In new snaps from the movie, the star rocked a short brown wig, a mouth guard, a white vest, shorts and boxing gloves as she fought in the ring. In recent months, fans noticed how she underwent a huge body transformation for the role and gained a lot of muscle in order to accurately portray Christy.
The actress is usually known for her long blonde locks and sleek figure. Her new film is scheduled for released in September this year.
Professional boxer Christy, also known as The Coal Miner's Daughter, put women's boxing on the map after going against Deridre Gogarty at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 1996.
The 56-year-old was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, appeared on talk shows for interviews and even popped up for cameos in sitcoms.
However, her life at home was a lot different as she suffered through 20 years of abuse at the hands of her husband, James 'Jim' Martin, who also trained her.
In late 2010, Jim stabbed her several times before shooting her in the torso. The horrific incident is said to have unfolded after a row at their home. Thankfully, she survived the attack.
He was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Christy went on to marry former boxer Lisa Holewyne in 2017. She previously spoke o Sydney taking on the role of her in an interview with TMZ.
She said: "I think she is young, hot, talented and about to make a movie that in 20+ years, fathers will watch with their daughters to make them aware of domestic violence.
"I want this movie to bring awareness to domestic violence, the challenge of sexuality and overall underdog story. I am a coal miner's daughter from a small town in southern West Virginia that made an impact in a sport that wasn't taken seriously - women's boxing."

Revealed: The VERY elite private school past of the latest alleged childcare predator accused of unspeakable crimes against kids
A childcare worker accused of indecently filming children has been unmasked as a private school graduate who failed in his bid to become a policeman. The identity of David William James, 26, had been protected by a suppression order which was lifted when his case was mentioned on Thursday. James is charged with nine counts of aggravated use of a child to make child abuse material, four counts of possessing abuse data or material and one of using a child to make abuse material. Police allege James photographed or filmed ten victims aged five to six while working at six out-of-school-hours (OOSH) care centres between April 2021 and May 2024. The centres were all located in Sydney 's north, including at Artarmon, the suburb where James lived. James had been employed at 58 OOSH locations between March 2018 and September 2024 but investigators had allegedly found evidence of crimes committed at only six of them. Police said James was accredited to work with children but that certification had since been removed. James did not appear in person on Thursday when his case was mentioned in Downing Centre Local Court, where Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Antrum lifted a non-publication order on his name. Daily Mail understands that police will allege James filmed boys using the toilet and exposed himself in front of children. James, who attended Knox Grammar at Wahroonga, was a probationary police constable between December 2021 and September 2022. He failed to finish his probation period and resigned from the NSW Police Force in May 2023 after a stint working in a civilian capacity. NSW Police admitted on Thursday that James was rejected by the force because he had failed to disclose his part-time childcare employment. 'During his employment, the man failed to seek the required approval to engage in secondary employment, and as such, police were unaware of his concurrent role in the childcare sector,' a police spokesperson said. 'We acknowledge the seriousness of the allegations and condemn any behaviour that places our community's most vulnerable members at risk.' On Thursday, AFP acting Assistant Commissioner Brett James said its investigation into James began after the detection of child abuse material on the dark web in June 2024. 'Today, court orders were lifted, so we can now talk about this investigation,' acting AC James said. It was revealed last month, before James' name could be published, that 1,200 letters had been sent to parents and carers who may have crossed paths with him 'The non-publication order issued by the court was to allow our investigators the time to carefully work through all the available evidence to establish a full picture of the alleged offending.' Acting AC James said police had examined 142,000 files on the alleged paedophile's devices which amounted to 18.9GB of material. It was revealed last month, before James's name could be published, that 1,200 letters had been sent to parents and carers who may have crossed paths with him. The letters were sent as part of process led by NSW Police and the AFP under the Joint Child Protection Response Program. Investigators asked parents and carers who received the letter to read it carefully, including instructions for contacting a hotline with any relevant concerns. Police were working with NSW Health, NSW Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Department of Education and Training and the Office of the Children's Guardian. James was initially charged last September with refusing to grant Australian Federal Police access to his phone and was arrested again a month later when he was charged with further offences. In a joint statement released on June 19, the AFP and NSW Police said James' alleged offending involved a 'very small number of children'. James has been refused bail since October and is next due to face court on August 21. The elusive heiress who was behind the wheel of her Tiffany-blue Rolls-Royce SUV that smashed into a celebrity chauffeur is bunkered down in a multi-million-dollar penthouse in Sydney 's east, while mystery surrounds the origins of her wealth. LanLan Yang, 23, was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of her Rolls-Royce Cullinan in the early hours of Saturday morning when she crashed into George Plassaras' van - writing off her car and leaving him hospitalised. Mr Plassaras is the longtime chauffeur to radio king Kyle Sandilands who was not in the car during the accident. As intrigue grows around the source of her fabulous wealth, the petite designer-clad Chanel fan is living in a luxury three-bedroom penthouse with a wraparound balcony. The lavish home boasts spectacular views of the city skyline, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and across the harbour to the lower north shore and Manly on the northern beaches. The Daily Mail has previously revealed Yang also owns a second unregistered white Rolls-Royce Ghost Convertible, worth up to $800,000, which lies parked and unused in the underground garage of her Vaucluse penthouse. It uses a car-lift that can only take 3,000kg, which is likely why she opted to park her overweight luxury SUV - said to have cost $1.5million with all options fitted - more than many people's houses - outside on her street instead of garaging it. Residents living in the elite rental block, which is said to cater only to 'discerning clientele', say the young scion is 'polite' and 'shy' but rarely seen at the property. They added that she loved to decorate the dashboard of her unique car with the mega-exclusive and hard-to-find Labubu collectible toys. 'She adorned the front of the car with those Labubus - it's cute,' the neighbour revealed. However, since her brush with the law last weekend, Yang has gone to ground and is now keeping the curtains drawn at her lavish home. The mysterious origin of her substantial wealth has captivated many living in Sydney's very well-heeled east who are eager to know more about her family and upbringing. On Wednesday, the Daily Mail confronted Yang as she reported to Rose Bay Police Station, dressed in a Chanel ensemble, five days after smashing her customised car. Yang was flanked by a minder as she was grilled on video about how she would plead to the charges she now faces, how she can afford two Rolls-Royces and if she had any reaction to Mr Plassaras's shocking revelation the crash cost him his right hip. The crash also left Mr Plassaras with a broken spine, broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and diaphragm, a torn open abdomen, two broken hips and two broken femurs. Speaking from the ICU on Wednesday's Kyle & Jackie O show, Plassaras revealed that he has a lengthy road to recovery. 'I've got no right hip,' Mr Plassaras said. 'It's totally gone'. However, Yang did not acknowledge her alleged victim's horrific injuries when told by our reporter. Instead, she kept her head bowed as she returned to her own chauffeur-driven minivan - a far cry from the two luxury vehicles she currently owns. Sandilands previously described his chauffeur Mr Plassaras as the 'greatest employee ever'. 'What did [he] say when he was taken away in the ambulance? He asked for his mobile phone so he could do what?' he said. 'This is a guy at 4.30 in the morning after he has been cut out of his vehicle, he's been trapped in his van for an hour, this poor bloke. The $1.5million Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV was often seen parked on the streets of Sydney He could be heard yelling for help inside the crushed vehicle, as emergency crews from NSW Police Rescue and Fire and Rescue NSW worked to free him. The crash was captured on nearby CCTV, which appeared to show Yang's luxury SUV allegedly veering into oncoming traffic before the violent collision. Her Rolls-Royce and his Mercedes are being held in a secure lot in Alexandria pending a police investigation. When she was taken to Waverley Police Station following the crash, police allege Yang refused to undergo a breath analysis. She was charged with causing bodily harm by misconduct, being in charge of a motor vehicle and refusing or failing to submit to breath analysis. Yang was granted conditional bail to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on August 15. She has not entered a plea to the charges.
