‘Aamir Khan-Reena Dutta's love was pure; he gave me Rs 30K job when no one employed me': What Faissal Khan said about superstar brother

Indian Express2 days ago
Aamir Khan's younger brother Faissal Khan's recent shocking claims about the actor and his family have stirred a storm. The former actor had cast aspersions about his family, including Aamir, which made the family release a signed statement dismissing his claims as 'misleading and distressful'.
However, in the same interview to Pinkvilla, Faissal spoke about being close with Aamir's first wife Reena Dutta and said that the love Aamir and she shared was 'pure'. He went on to say that the superstar was devastated after their marriage ended. He also revealed that the Dangal actor was in a 'live-in' relationship with his ex-wife Kiran Rao before tying the knot.
When the host asked him about his bond with Aamir, the actor said, 'I was very close to him. There was a time when Aamir got married to Reena, only I knew in the entire family and no one else. He was very nice to me even when I was locked up, he was caring.'
Faissal Khan has claimed that Aamir Khan 'caged' him for a year at his home in Mumbai after he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He restricted his freedom with bodyguards outside his room, and gave him forced medication by alleging that he was mentally unstable. His claims have been dismissed by the family who say that all decisions for Faissal were taken under medical guidance.
In the interview, Faissal said about his brother, 'I understood that Aamir is just a front, islie aaj bhi unke lie mere dil mein aisa kuch nahi hai. I love Aamir, I respect him. I don't even have any grudges against my family, we are all back together. Past is the past, we celebrate birthdays and functions now.'

He admitted Aamir eventually helped him get a job as well. 'Aamir has been helpful to me, he even gave me a job as a script doctor when I wanted to get back. I told him that no one was ready to give my any work, everyone thought I am mad. It was a Rs 30K job, he only helped me. He is such a positive and sensible person.' Faissal now lives on a monthly allowance paid to him by Aamir, and resides in one of the apartments owned by Aamir in the Pali Hill complex in Mumbai.
Faissal Khan said he shared a close relationship with his first wife Reena Dutta. 'Reena ke saath mera bahut acha tha, she has always been very nice to me. She is a lovely lady. It was sad that they broke up. He was shattered. She was with him when he was nothing, so she didn't have any ulterior motive ki yeh Aamir Khan hai, vo bana baad mein, pehle Reena aayi thi. You understand that the love is pure. Baaki sab jo horaha hai vo toh theek hai. Reena is a very sensible person. I am very fond of her and I respect her a lot,' he revealed.
However, he never spoke that much to Aamir Khan's second wife Kiran Rao. 'I don't know her that well. I never spent time or interacted with her on any level. I don't know her at all, to even comment on her. She also doesn't know me much, vo mauka hi nahi mila. She was living with Aamir for two years before getting married in 2005. They both were busy with their work and I was locked in the house. I had left in 2006, meri apni struggle thi. Never got the time to understand her,' he concluded.
'We are distressed by Faissal's hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family.
It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family.
We request the media for empathy, and to refrain from turning a private matter into salacious, inflammatory and hurtful gossip. The statement was signed by Reena Datta, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, Farhat Datta, Rajiv Datta, Kiran Rao, Santosh Hegde, Seher Hegde, Mansoor Khan, Nuzhat Khan, Imran Khan, Tina Fonseca, Zayn Marie Khan, and Pablo Khan.

Rajinikanth's Coolie has a Christopher Nolan movie inspiration: Guess the unexpected Hollywood twist

Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj , known for blending Indian cinema with global influences, has reportedly drawn inspiration from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight for his upcoming film Coolie. According to Tollywood star Nagarjuna Akkineni, who plays the villain in the film, Lokesh referenced Heath Ledger's iconic Joker for the character's costumes and overall vibe. Pinkvilla reported that Nagarjuna explained in a conversation with Shruti Haasan that the director wanted to capture the 'madness' he saw in Joker, particularly through the costume design. 'I think Loki had Heath Ledger's Joker in his mind, and he wanted that madness. He probably saw the madness in the colour as well,' Nagarjuna said, highlighting the unique purple-and-cream costume he dons in the movie. I mean, even for me, it's baggy pants.' Shruti Haasan agreed, observing that the costume combines elements of both Heath Ledger's Joker and the traditional Joker imagery. Nagarjuna humorously remarked that he was 'glad he didn't put on that smile.' Preparing for a Negative Role Nagarjuna, who has predominantly played heroic characters, revealed that he approached this negative role differently. He recorded the narration for the first time and took detailed notes before agreeing to play Simon, the character inspired by Joker. The actor reflected, 'The story starts with Simon's character. For the first time, I've recorded the narration and made notes to decide on the character. I never did this earlier.' Even Superstar Rajinikanth, playing the titular role, was reportedly impressed with Nagarjuna's portrayal. 'After the shot was over, Rajini sir nodded and said 'hmmm' (with a sweet smile),' Nagarjuna recalled. Coolie, featuring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan, is releasing in theatres on August 14.

War 2 Final Hindi Advance Booking Report: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR film ends pre-sales selling 155,000 tickets in top chains for opening day

War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani has ended its India presales on a decent note, for the Hindi version. The film's total ticket sales in top chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for day 1 stand at 155,000 tickets. The bookings are better than Fighter, and the average ticket rate is higher too. An opening in the vicinity of Rs 27 crore net can be targetted and that would be a decent result, if not a great or exceptional result that is expected from a film as big as this. War 2 Closes Presales By Selling 155,000 Tickets In Top Chains For Day 1 In Hindi The bookings of War 2 are healthy for Independence day. If reports are favourable on the opening day, a Rs 50 crore plus day 2 can be fancied. An extended opening weekend of Rs 150 crore net or so is on the cards, if the content of the movie lands. That would also make the film, well in contention for a Rs 300 crore plus finish. The Telugu version of the movie will also be putting up solid collections for the first weekend if the word of mouth is favourable. The second highest grossing Spy Universe film is all but certain, in that case. Of course, the footfalls of Tiger Zinda Hai and Pathaan require more mass support, which does not seem likely based on the movie's pre-release units that incline more towards the class audiences. War 2 Has Found More Than Just A Stiff Rival In Coolie War 2's release rival Coolie is turning out to be a much bigger threat than it seemed to be. It was always going to lead in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but for it to lead in Karnataka and Telangana, while coming really close to War 2 in Andhra Pradesh is a shocker. Even in North India, it now has enough capacity to put up over Rs 5 crore net for the Hindi version. In short, Coolie is definitely the most preferred movie choice on 14th of August, 2025, and it remains to be seen if War 2 can outdo Coolie on the Independence Day holiday. War 2 In Theatres War 2 plays in theatres in just a few hours now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
