SWIPE SURGE One in 10 Brits would rather doomscroll than have sex with their partner, new study finds
ONE in 10 Brits admit choosing doomscrolling over sex with their partner, according to research.
A poll of 2,000 adults explored the impact of consuming 'endless' negative stories on the web – finding the UK collectively spends 67.4 million hours a day doomscrolling.

That's 96 minutes every day in total – the equivalent of two days during the course of an average month.
And this not only affects productivity (46 per cent) and creativity (28 per cent) but for 10 per cent has even resulted in turning down sex.
Their fascination with such content has also led to 28 per cent feeling tired or drained, and 22 per cent anxious or overwhelmed.
The research was commissioned by OnePlus, which has also launched Brain Rot Blaster – a retro first-person shooter web game which champions the anti-scroll.

The game, which self-destructs after one play, holds up a mirror to the UK's obsession with doomscrolling by highlighting the most toxic internet behaviours.
Spokesperson for the smartphone brand, Celina Shi said: 'It's easy to fall into mindless scrolling - at home, at work, even around loved ones.
'We're encouraging people to take back control of their screen time and use their phones with more purpose."
The research also revealed 44 per cent of those polled regularly lose track of time when scrolling, and 22 per cent have no idea how much they scroll at all.

But for the 52 per cent who wish they had more hours in the day, cutting back on scrolling could help them make time for the things they say matter most.
This ranges from seeing family (40 per cent) and spending time in nature (36 per cent), to being creative (25 per cent) or learning a new language (19 per cent).
Why is Facebook making sounds when scrolling?
Four in 10 (41 per cent) scrollers admit to doing so on the toilet, and 49 per cent do it while spending time with friends and family.
Some have also indulged in the online negative swirls while at a wedding (12 per cent), at a school event (13 per cent), and even funerals (six per cent)

With the top 'toxic topics' include negative world events (32 per cent) and reality TV or celebrity drama (32 per cent).
Celina Shi, from OnePlus – which developed the game featuring digital demons like the 'Blockchain Bro' and 'Tin Foil Hat' to be blasted away with its Nord 5 smartphone, released on Tuesday 8 July – added: 'Why lose hours to the scroll, when you could be creating something that inspires you instead?
'Brain Rot Blaster takes on the creativity-crushing, productivity-sapping scroll, challenging users to rethink their habits and up their game.'

This Dated Top Trend Is Taking Over Instagram – Be Prepared To Want To Buy A Sheer Cape Top
@Getty/ Instagram @bellahadid It's pretty rare for a 'nice top' outfit not to work for an upcoming plan in the diary. Off to dinner? Wear a cami top and jeans. Looking for a last minute holiday outfit? Try a boho blousewith jorts. The styling potential is quite literally endless. And while I'll always be a fan of a humble white T-shirt or a trusty tank top, I'm on the lookout for new tops to rotate that'll add interest. I'm quite taken by thestriped rugby style tops that were doing the rounds at CPHFW, but I've spotted a certain style making a comeback that's taken me by surprise. Cape tops are everywhere right now, but they were once seen as the poncho style tops from 2002 – the likes of Hilary Duff wore – that quickly dated. And I remember my local Norwich market couldn't get enough of them when I was a teenager. Now, though, they've had a chic upgrade. Less poncho and more cape, it's sheer iterations I'm most interested in, and it appears I'm not the only one. Turns out, it's the only thing Bella Hadidand I have in common, as the supermodel was spotted on Instagram wearing a knitted version this week. While I appreciate the draped top style, for me, I'm more interested in the floaty peek-a-boo look that so many fashion insiders have been wearing. Take a look at Nina Sandbech(below) for example, here, she's wearing New Arrivals berry shade flared trousers with a floor-sweeping cape over a bralette. So. Damn. Chic. 1. New Arrivals Vivi Cape You can pre-order Nina's exact top from New Arrivals, and no doubt you'll want the matching top and trousers for the full look while you're there! The general consensus with the 2025 version of cape tops is that sheer is key, the floatier the better and dramatic voluminous styles get a firm yes. Claudia (left) is also seen wearing the New Arrivals style, but it's not just designers who have tapped into the trend. Enna (right) can be seen styling a Mango iteration with a mini skirt and flip flops. Of course the easy holiday hero sold out quickly, but I've found so many other cape tops from the likes of Free People and Jigsaw that'll fill the void. While these tops are of course a summery style that you'll want to throw on over a bikini on holiday, or even as an alternative wedding guest outfit (it's not just abouta dress, you know), they'll also work for the season ahead. If you're not into the sheer look – it can be trickier to style – then the likes of Cos and Zara have already dropped pre-fall styles in thicker materials that you'll want to take through to autumn. Trust me, these cape tops are about to be everywhere! 2. Jaded London Infinity Multiway Cape In black, gold or silver, you can style this cape so many ways so it'll be the best £40 you spend this summer. I love how it looks across one shoulder with jeans and heels for a night out. 3. Free People Carly Cape Top Did someone say boho? With lace and ruffles being seen on everything from dresses and skirts to tops, I couldn't not include this Free People version. I'm seeing it worn with jeans and a big suede tote bag for the full Chloé-esque package. 4. Zara Studded Scarf Cape This one is slightly thicker than the sheer styles we're seeing a lot of, but I love it. The studs, the scarf neckline – try it out with some balloon trousers and flip flops for one of those in-between weather days. 5. Cos Asymmetric Double Knit Wool Cape If you're already fully focused on your new season wardrobe, luckily most brands have already started dropping pre-fall collections so you can get ahead. This cape is fresh in from Cos, and I'll be styling it with tailored wide-leg trousers – as seen above. 6. Jigsaw Sheer Linen Blend Poncho Jigsaw has called this top a 'sheer poncho', but whatever you choose to call it, we like how it'll look over a bikini top or bralette with wide-leg trousers or Bermuda shorts. And it also comes in cream, FYI. 7. Zimmermann Cropped Cape Denim Blouse Ticking off the Western trend a lot of us have been keen to achieve, this cape top wouldn't look out of place with jorts or jeans for a double denim hit. Add cowboy boots or clogs if you're dedicated to the cause. 8. Wolflamb Gabriela Cape Barcelona-based brand Wolflamb has created cape tops to match its wedding-ready dresses. And it comes in not one, not two but ten different colours – including white for any brides to be. 9. Arakii Flowy Silk Cape It's a thing of beauty, right? This zebra print cape top – by Stockholm brand Arakii – is one you'll want to wear as your new 'nice top' with jeans. But also with shorts, mini skirts, swimwear and practically anything else just so you can wear it on repeat.

A smart shopper, who shares money saving tips and deals online, has discovered a new range of products in Tesco that have much lower price tags than similar high-end brands Tesco has launched a new line of products that a savvy shopper has urged others to check out. With households feeling the effects of the continuing inflation and rising cost of living, more Brits are looking for ways they can save money. Laura White, an expert in money saving tips and deals, alerted her Instagram followers to something she had spotted in Tesco that she believes could save them 'a lot of money.' The savvy shopper noticed that the supermarket has recently released a range of fragrances by Skin Saints that smell similar to various high end brands. She said: 'If you are a Carolina Herrera Good Girl fan, this fragrance called Passion could be for you. 'It's meant to smell just like Good Girl. [The] price comparison is very different though as you can get this 100ml bottle for just £7 with your Clubcard.' The Carolina Herrera Good Girl perfume is recognised by its striking stiletto-shaped bottle and it costs £139 for the 100ml size when purchased directly from the brand online. Continuing to explore the Skin Saints range in Tesco, Laura added: 'They've also got a fragrance called Rouge which is really similar to the iconic Baccarat Rouge 540. 'Again this is just £7 for the 100ml bottle.' The next product she highlighted was Santal, which has a sandalwood and warm spice scent, similar to the luxury Santal 33 by Le Labo. The Instagram user also spotted the Cerise fragrance, which she explained has been likened to Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. Laura concluded that the Skin Saints products can make 'great money-saving alternatives.' All of the ones she displayed in her clip are £7 with a Tesco Clubcard or £8 without. The post has attracted thousands of views, hundreds of likes and several comments. An impressed viewer remarked: 'Oooohh I've never seen these in my local Tesco. Amazing.' A second shared: 'I love the Santal.' Another exclaimed: 'Oh my goodness now Tesco!!! I'm off there.' Someone else added: 'Going to go and look.' Other Skin Saints fragrances on offer in Tesco include Gold, featuring cinnamon, amber and fresh grapefruit tones, Flower Chain, which has a white violet and sandalwood scent, and Miss Paris, with notes of fresh rose, iris and patchouli. Skin Saints is primarily a skincare brand known for its range of products focused on brightening, nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. It offers skincare goods with ingredients, like vitamin C, retinol, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Skin Saints further provides products that target specific skin concerns from dryness to dullness to fine lines and wrinkles.
