SZA steps into a new role as she expands her creative empire in stylish footwear
SZA expands her creative empire as she becomes Vans' artistic director, launching the inspiring 'VANSZA' project. Image: Instagram American singer SZA has taken on a new challenge. The Grammy-winning singer is now the artistic director for Vans, signing a multi-year deal to work with the brand on new campaigns and custom collections. The first project, 'VANSZA', is a short film about growth and self-expression. In it, SZA encourages people to push themselves and embrace new possibilities while wearing the iconic black-and-white Knu Skool pair, which are her favourite go-to sneakers. Shot by Sophie Jones and styled by Alejandra Hernandez, the video blends her laid-back style with Vans' skate-inspired edge. Vans described SZA as someone whose authenticity and fearless self-expression match the brand's values. They credited her with challenging fashion norms and inspiring young people to tell their own stories. Video Player is loading. Next Stay Close ✕ 'In Vans, I feel free,' SZA said. 'I've been wearing 'Knu Skools' and other styles for years; they've always had an ethos I connect with. 'As artistic director, my mission is to show that joy, community, creativity and fashion are all still connected. That humanity, culture and connection are still the access points. They stand where I stand, and I'm honoured to invite a whole bunch of people to stand Off the Wall with us.' This move follows the earlier launch of her beauty brand, 'Not Beauty', earlier this year. The range debuted with three lip gloss shades, which are 'In The Flesh', 'Strawberry Jelly' and 'Quartz' She first sold her lip gloss range at pop-up shops during her 'Grand National Tour' with Kendrick Lamar. SZA has been wearing her own products long before releasing them. 'I'm not a beauty maven, but I know lips. I know what I like, and I'm diligent about finding the best quality ingredients,' she told "Vogue". Following her success in beauty, SZA's collaboration with Vans marks another significant step in her creative path. The 'SOS' singer's new role is also a big step for Vans. The brand has a long history of working with creative people, and teaming up with her brings a fresh point of view. They intend to combine her personal style with Vans' skate and streetwear aesthetic, all while upholding the brand's core values of originality and authenticity.

WATCH: Kat Clark's Johannesburg adventure with Tyla's Sister - a tour to remember
Sydney Seethal and Kat Clark at the Museum of Illusions in Johannesburg. Image: Instagram The beauty of travelling lies in the endless opportunities to meet new people and forge friendships. Recently, Australian influencer Kat Clark embarked on an exciting adventure in South Africa, where she discovered the vibrant culture of Mzansi and made a new friend along the way. Clark took to Instagram to share her experiences exploring Johannesburg, guided by none other than Sydney Seethal, the sister of Tyler. With Seethal as her tour guide, Clark visited several hot spots around Johannesburg, including the fascinating Illusion Museum, where she marvelled at optical illusions, and tried her hand at indoor bowling. Of course, no visit to Johannesburg would be complete without indulging in the culinary delights of Rosebank. 'I don't know about you, but I get so shy meeting new people. Today, I met Sydney and her friends for the very first time. I felt really nervous, and to make matters worse, I thought Sydney was nothing like me. "When she was planning our day, she literally had bungee jumping booked for us, and I was like, 'Oh no, you need to change that,'' Clark shared. During their time together, Clark discovered that her husband, Jonathan, and Seethal's family are originally from Wentworth in Durban. Rosebank is a trendy neighbourhood in Johannesburg, renowned for its diverse attractions, including world-class art galleries, unique shopping experiences, and lively entertainment venues. This compact area is easily explored on foot, offering a delightful mix of global and local influences. Clark initially travelled to Mzansi for a safari adventure with her daughter. The popular digital creator, known for her engaging family content, documented their journey to the world-famous Kruger National Park with excitement and awe. The mother-daughter duo stayed at the luxurious Malewane Lodge, located at Royal Malewane in Mpumalanga, a destination celebrated for its opulent safari experience.

Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ Ad loading The "Bad Blood" singer, who celebrated regaining ownership of her first six albums earlier this year, after years of battling over her music rights, said: "(These are) my handwritten diary entries from my whole life; these are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life … Rather than send lawyers or management in a big crew, I sent my mom and my brother. "They told them (Shamrock Holdings) what this meant for me, they told them the whole story of all the times we've tried to buy it, all the times it's fallen through." Swift cried again as she recalled her mother telling her Shamrock had agreed to sell: "I just, like, very dramatically hit the floor … I started bawling my eyes out." As discussions shifted towards her music, Swift offered fans a peek into her creative process. Her upcoming album, "The Life of a Showgirl", was largely developed during her record-breaking "Eras Tour," which spanned 149 shows across five continents, drawing an impressive attendance of over 10.1 million. "I miss not being on tour, but it feels like it was perfect for what it was. It was a lot of physical therapy, and it was a lot of being in a state of perpetual physical discomfort. I'm not getting hit by huge 300-pounders, but the heels … I got an acupuncture mat ... I miss it, because I miss the fans and that connection, it was so special. It was the most informative time of my life. "I learned how far I can push myself if I set a goal. It's really about prioritising the fans' experience before anything else," she said. Now that the stress of touring has subsided, Swift revealed that she has returned to her "1700s hobbies." She shared how she engages in activities reminiscent of simpler times - sewing, cooking and her current obsession with sourdough baking. "You can say all the hobbies I have are hobbies you could have in the 1700s. I get on my granny sh**. I like to sew. I specialise in children's purses and baby blankets. I make two things, and that's it. I love to paint, I love to cook, and I have a different baking obsession every 6 months. "Right now, we are very deep in a sourdough obsession that's taking over my life. I'm really talking about bread 60% of the time ... I'm on all the blogs, there's a whole community of us."
