
Passenger held at Mumbai airport with 54 exotic animals

Mumbai, Aug 9 (PTI) A passenger was apprehended at Mumbai airport allegedly with 54 exotic animals, an official said on Saturday.
The passenger had arrived from Bangkok in Thailand onboard an IndiGo Airlines flights on Friday afternoon, the official said.
'We seized species like Albino Red Eared Slider Turtles, Marmosets and Cuscus (a type of nocturnal marsupials) from his luggage. Immediate orders were issued by Wildlife Crime Control Bureau to send back the animals to Bangkok as per Wildlife Protection Act and CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species)," he said.
The seizure was made with the help of wildlife rescue experts from Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare, the official said. PTI ZA BNM

In a shocking dine-and-dashing incident in the United Kingdom, a group of men were seen entering an Indian restaurant, having meals, and then rushing out without paying the bills in Northampton, England. According to The Sun, the incident took place on August 5 at around 10.15 pm (local time) at Saffron restaurant in the city. A video of them dining and then escaping went viral on social media. The restaurant posted the video on their Facebook page. As the men ran out of the restaurant, a staffer was seen chasing them to catch them; however, they had fled. The restaurant also shared the image of the unpaid bill, which amounts to £197.30 (approximately a little over Rs 23,000). Their meal bill had: four plain poppadoms for £5.60, a chutney tray for £2.20, two chargrilled lamb chops for £24, three chicken chat dishes for £30, two chicken tikka mains for £28, and two chicken tikka masalas for £32. They also ordered two boiled rice portions for £11, two garlic naans for £12, three chapatis for £12, a portion of chips for £4.50, and nine glass bottles of Coke (330ml each) for £36. 44-Year-Old Arrested Days After He Attacked Elderly Sikh Man Near Los Angeles Gurdwara
Last Updated: Bo Richard Vitagliano, 44, was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday night for allegedly attacking 70-year-old Harpal Singh in North Hollywood. One person was arrested in connection with the attack on a 70-year-old Sikh man in the North Hollywood area of Los Angeles last week, ABC News reported. The suspect was arrested on Monday at nearly 9.40 pm local time, and was identified as 44-year-old Bo Richard Vitagliano. The report quoted jail records and said the man was held on $1.115 million bail. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the attack came after a brawl between the Sikh man, identified as Harpal Singh, and the accused. 'Witnesses advised that they did not see how the altercation began, but heard a loud commotion, then witnessed two men swinging metal objects at each other," the report quoted a press release. 'Both individuals were struck. The suspect further assaulted the victim while he was reportedly on the ground. Witnesses intervened by yelling at the suspect, at which time he rode away on his bicycle," it added. The attack victim is a resident of the US state of California and suffered serious injuries after he was nearly beaten to death while he was out for a morning walk. He continues to remain critical. 'He is totally unconscious, they keep him under sedation," Gurdial Singh Randhawa was quoted as saying by Fox 11 Los Angeles.
