Newborn stolen from Sagar hosp, recovered in 3 hrs

Bhopal: A newborn baby, stolen from Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC) in Sagar district on Thursday, was recovered within three hours after an intense police chase across the district. The infant was found safe in a bus near Karrapur - an area flagged in previous child-lifting cases - and the woman who took him was arrested. The baby's mother, Somti, a resident of Bhopal Road, had delivered on Saturday and was in the maternity ward when the incident occurred. Around 8 am, while her family members waited outside, a woman in a red saree entered the ward and walked out with the infant. When Somti saw her baby missing, she raised the alarm. Police scanned CCTV footage from the hospital, spotted the suspect, and launched a district-wide alert, checking bus stands and railway stations. They soon learnt the woman had boarded a bus to Banda. Teams from Sagar, Banda, and Karrapur outposts intercepted the bus near Karrapur and recovered the baby. The infant was brought back to BMC, reunited with his mother, and admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for observation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Doctors said he is healthy but will remain under monitoring. The incident caused chaos at the hospital, with one visitor alleging staff beat him for filming the scene. BMC Dean Dr P S Thakur said a three-member inquiry panel has been formed and the security guards on duty have been suspended for 15 days. He said a joint operation by the college guards and police led to the recovery of the child. Police are questioning the woman to determine her motive, and are probing possible links to past child-lifting incidents in the Karrapur area. 316 whisky bottles found in AC duct of ‘dry' Bihar-bound train

1 2 Lucknow: Passengers on board Lucknow Junction–Barauni Express (Train No. 15204) complained about low cooling in an AC-2 tier coach when the train was passing through Uttar Pradesh. However, they were taken by surprise when the railway technician opened the AC duct only to discover that it was stuffed with 316 whisky bottles. The stash included 256 bottles of Officer's Choice and 60 bottles of After Dark Blue whisky, each 180 ml, totalling nearly 57 litres of liquor. The incident took place on Tuesday and its video went viral. A coach attendant was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle the liquor bottles to Bihar which is a dry state. The consignment was found in the duct in the sixth row of the A2 coach. Bottles wrapped in paper sheets were obstructing the airflow above berths 32 and 34. The onboard GRP team from Basti, which had taken charge of the train at Burhwal Junction, was alerted. When the train reached Basti station, a joint team of GRP and RPF personnel seized the consignment. Passengers captured the moment on video, with one officer heard exclaiming, "Yeh dekhiye khazana! (Look at this treasure!)". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Basti GRP SHO, Pankaj Kumar Yadav, confirmed the arrest of coach attendant Ashish Kumar, who hails from Khagaria in Bihar. Ashish admitted to regularly smuggling liquor from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar, where prohibition laws have created a thriving black market. He said he concealed the bottles in the AC duct to avoid detection and sold them at double the price. Ashish has been booked under Section 60 of the Excise Act and sent to jail. Interestingly, Ashish's duty was in a different coach, but to guard his illegal whisky consignment, he had moved to AC-2 coach, while the actual coach (identity withheld by TOI) attendant was on leave. 1 2 Hyderabad: Telangana high court, hearing a petition filed by Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman seeking to quash a criminal case registered against him during the Huzurnagar by-election, Thursday sought an explanation from the state on the identical statements of police personnel examined as witnesses in the case. Not just the statements, but each line, every word, and the number of lines on each page are identical, pointed out the court, while posting the matter to August 22 for further hearing. "There are statements of seven independent witnesses in the case and all are identical. The state is directed to explain the identical contents word by word in all these statements," Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya said, while hearing the matter. The state counsel informed the judge that the statements could be identical as they were being translated from Telugu to English and assured to explain the concerns raised by the judge during the next hearing. However, a case was registered on the allegations of unlawful assembly with around 50 persons and also obstruction of traffic movement and forceful restraint. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo "But cops do not produce any photo or video evidence to support their allegations.
