Edinburgh officers are hopeful for a reprieve amid rumours warring factions in the ongoing gangland feud agreed a truce.
Streets across the capital and Glasgow have descended into chaos in the past few months but there is hope an end to the conflict is in sight.
With this in mind, the Record looks at some of the key incidents thought to involve drug lords including Mark Richardson and Ross McGill as well as the Daniel and Lyons crime clans.
March 6. A masked and hooded thug is caught on camera throwing a Molotov cocktail at a beauty salon in Leith, run by jailed drug lord Mark Richardson's partner Stephanie Dignan. It signals the beginning of a new drug war.
March 11. Stephanie's dad Steven's warehouse in Musselburgh, East Lothian is set ablaze.

March 16 Another firebombing, this time in Portobello. A garage goes up in flames in the coastal suburb's Milton Road East.
March 20. A shooting at a property in Niddrie linked to Richardson shocks residents when three shots ring out before the hood responsible flees in a white BMW.
March 21. More gunshots are fired as a window is blasted at a ground floor flat in the city's West Pilton Bank at about 7.55am.
March 23 A yob hurls a petrol bomb through a window of a property in Hay Drive, Niddrie, with a chilling video clip shared online later.

April 4 The Hay Drive property is targeted again. The blaze spreads to the house next door, with a dozen firefighters battling the flames.
April 7. Four firebombing attacks in 24 hours, include three properties in Glasgow which are linked to the Daniel crime clan. Brazen hoods taking time to gloat by posting videos on social media to warn of more attacks.
April 8 A Glasgow factory linked to the Daniel family is firebombed as the gangland turf war escalates.

26 April 2025. Four men appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to face fire raising and firearms offences following dawn raids.
May 8 The office of Deuce Private Hire taxi firm, believed to be another business linked to the Daniel clan and Edinburgh crime boss Mark Richardson in Glasgow, is torched .

Family of Scot missing in Portugal have never 'known pain like it' during frantic search
EXCLUSIVE: Greg Monks' family have opened up about their fears over their missing loved one. The family of a missing Glasgow man who vanished whilst on a stag do in Portugal say they have neve "known pain like it," as they continue their frantic search for him. Greg Monks, from Cambuslang, vanished hours after arriving with his mates in Albufeira in the sunshine destination of the Algarve on Tuesday evening. Greg, who is the groomsmen for his pal, sparked a major search when he disappeared after leaving the popular bustling strip to head back to the group's apartments. However no one has seen or heard from the 38-year-old since with his family, including his worried parents, currently out in Albufeira desperately seeking answers to his whereabouts. Portuguese search cops have told relatives he was last sighted on CCTV around four miles from his apartment and the strip in a quieter residential area of Cerro de Águia. Loved ones are now trying to piece together Greg's last movements as they step up the hunt to find him. Sister Jillian Monks says the exhausted search-party, including Greg's mum, dad, cousin and girlfriend Nicole, are numb as they scour the Algarve. Jillian, 36, who has had to remain in Glasgow with her two young children says she is doing everything she can to share appeals and reach out to locals on social media. Speaking with the Record, she said: "This is every family's worst nightmare. "We have never known pain like this. "It is just horrendous. We are all trying to keep positive but we know how out of character this is for Greg. We know if he could contact us he would. "We're all just numb and we're praying he's safe. We are all worried sick for him." Jillian has told how the stag party quickly got changed after checking into the Novochoro Apartments before heading back out. But there are no fresh images of Greg from the night he vanished. The group of lads were understood to be in King's Cross karaoke bar in Albufeira's nightlife hub before Greg became separated from the group. Jillian added: "We don't have any pictures of what Greg was wearing but we think he might have got changed from what he had travelling to Portugal. "We're trying to piece everything together. "His girlfriend, Nicole, is over in Albufeira, she checked through his case to see what was missing. We think he might have had a navy blue Nike shorts and top set on. Jillian says gutted mates were left "devastated and shocked" when they realised that Greg hadn't returned to the apartments. They immediately contacted police after he was missing for 12 hours. She said: "The group had only been there for a matter of hours. They checked in and were only in the apartment for 20 minutes before heading out again. "They are all devastated and shocked by what has happened. They spent the rest of the time there searching for him and trying to help. "They have all returned home today, Greg should be back home with them." Jillian says the family are in constant contact with local police who have altered the national police force in Portugal. But she says the family have yet to see proof that Greg was spotted in Cerro de Águia and are asking police to show them the CCTV clips that has caused the search to focus on the hilly area. Jillian added: "Police have had drones out and search teams going over Cerro de Águia. "But it is really rocky terrain it's very quiet and residential. We don't know why he has went there or how he has ended up there. "Until we see proof we don't know what to believe." As part of the families search they are asking residents of Cerro de Águia to check any private CCTV or ring doorbell footage. "We just hope somebody will have seen him," Jillian added. "Any information or help from locals is crucial." A fundraiser has raised almost £15,000 to help keep the search for Greg going. You can donate to the fundraiser here. Edinburgh suspect 'jumps fence' after 'stealing e-bike' as police dog called in

The incident, which happened on Friday night, saw two individuals steal a Surron in Drylaw. Police dog Rico was called in to trace them, before recovering the bike. The cunning canine has been praised by locals for his actions. Police Scotland Edinburgh said: "Police dog Rico was busy last night in Drylaw. "He tracked two suspects after they stole a Surron. On seeing Rico, one jumped a fence in to the arms of waiting officers and the second thought running was over rated after Rico had a "chat" with him! "Rico then tracked and recovered the bike." A second added: "He gave them paws for thought!" A third said: "Well done PD Rico (and handler of course)." Rico recently leaped into action on May 17, tracking down three robbers and two thieves. PD Rico and his handler were called in to sniff out three suspects who were trying to play "hide and seek" with officers at a housebreaking. PD Rico's keen sense of smell led him to two of the culprits hiding in the bushes at a nearby golf course.

New appeal launched a week after police officer seriously injured in crash
Pc Christopher Miller sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition, after the incident on the B416 Bells Hill at around 10.20pm on May 22. Thames Valley Police carried out checks with drivers at the scene of the crash on Thursday to ask if they saw anything on the night of the incident. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Will Crowther speaks to the media after the crash (James Manning/PA) Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Will Crowther said: 'Last night we carried out checks with drivers on the B416 Bells Hill, a week on from the scene of the road traffic collision that left Pc Christopher Miller with life-threatening injuries. 'We spoke to a number of motorists travelling along the route to ask if they recall seeing anything on the evening of 22 May. 'I want to use this opportunity to continue to appeal to anyone who has information or footage from the area but is yet to contact the force to please come forward. 'The vehicle involved was a white BMW, which will have been damaged after the incident. 'We are keen to understand where the white BMW was before and after the incident, so if you saw the vehicle or anyone in the vehicle, please contact us. 'If you saw any other vehicles that caught your attention in the area that night we would also be keen to hear from you. 'If you have any information or footage from the area then please contact us via our website or by calling 101, quoting investigation number 43250252869. 'I appreciate that sometimes people don't want to speak directly to police. Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs said Thames Valley Police had been shocked by the incident (James Manning/PA) 'Therefore, if you want to remain anonymous you can still provide information via independent charity Crimestoppers. Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs said: 'Thames Valley Police has been shocked by the news of Pc Christopher Miller being seriously injured while carrying out his duties as a police officer. 'Pc Miller's family continue to be supported by our specially trained family liaison officers. 'Everyone within the force is thinking of Pc Miller, his family and colleagues within our Roads Policing Unit. 'As a force, we continue to support each other through this difficult time.' Simranjit Kajla, 28, of Lydford Avenue, Slough, has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance. He appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on June 23. Three other people were arrested in connection with the crash. A 38-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until August 23. A 43-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation. A 37-year-old woman from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released on police bail until August 25.
