Marcos: Walang lugar ang katiwalian sa kapulisan
During the 124th Police Service Anniversary held at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Marcos said part of the threat to national security are the police officers who had committed wrongdoings and abuse of power.
''Huwag din natin kalimutan na bahagi ng banta sa seguridad ang mga nasa hanay na bumabaluktot mismo ng ating layunin. Aanhin pa ang pinakamodernong kagamitan kung may ilang pulis pa rin ang umaabuso sa kapangyarihan?'' Marcos said during the 124th Police Service Anniversary.
(Let us not forget that part of the security threats are the rouge cops who do not abide by their duty. What is the use of the most modern assets if there are some police scalawags?)
''We will continue to investigate and hold these people accountable within the bounds of the law. We do not condone wrongdoings among those who are sworn to uphold the law and to protect the citizens of our Republic. Inuulit ko, walang lugar ang katiwalian sa ating kapulisan (I repeat, corruption has no place in the police force),'' he added.
Though the rate of crime incidents had gone down, Marcos said the figure alone could not allay public fear. He said the number of crime incidents from June 2024 to June 2025 decreased as compared to the preceding period.
''As public servants, we do not ask people to celebrate statistics if their experiences tell a different story,'' Marcos said.
''We must regain the trust of the public through more decisive and responsive actions. I believe the PNP is now on its right track,'' the President said.
Further, Marcos said the government would continue to modernize the PNP as criminals, at present, use technology for their illegal schemes.
So far, the police force has drones and other advanced technologies that complement police operations, enabling the cops' capabilities to protect, to monitor, and to respond with greater precision.
''But technology will never replace the importance of your presence on the ground. These tools are only effective as the men and women who wield those tools,'' Marcos said.
''Be assured that the government stands with you, behind you all – every hour of every day – as you continue to carry out your mission and build a safer and more peaceful Bagong Pilipinas,'' he added. —KG, GMA Integrated News

Marcos tasks agencies to look into cases of violence in schools — Palace
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has tasked concerned agencies to thoroughly look into the cases of violence in school premises. At a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the President wants to ensure that the child protection policy of the Department of Education is being enforced in schools. ''Opo, inutusan na po ng Pangulong Marcos ang DepEd, DILG, PNP, para po maisagawa ang masusing pagiimbestiga patungkol po dito, pati po ang DSWD ay tutulong po na makita at ma-monitor kung ang child protection policy ng DepEd ay naisasagawa po sa bawat eskuwelahan,'' Castro said. (Yes, President Marcos tasked DepEd, DILG, and PNP to thoroughly investigate these incidents. The DSWD will also help in monitoring if the child protection policy of the DepEd is being properly enforced.) ''So, muli kailangan po talagang maimbestigahan ito lalo po at mayroong mga menor de edad na nasasangkot po dito at nagiging isyu na po talaga iyong mental health sa mga kabataan. So hindi po ito tutulugan at aaksyunan po ng mga concerned agencies, agad-agad din po,'' she added. (Again, we need to investigate this as mental health has been an issue among the youth. So, concerned agencies will immediately act on this.) Increase vigilance The Department of Education (DepEd) has called on its field offices to increase vigilance and implement stricter preventive measures against school-based violence following a shooting incident in Nueva Ecija. The agency maintained that in its order (DO) No. 40, s. 2012, titled DepEd Child Protection Policy, 'all learners and school personnel are prohibited from committing acts of violence, abuse, and exploitation, as well as from introducing into the school premises or otherwise possessing prohibited articles such as deadly weapons, drugs, alcohol, toxic and noxious substances, and pornographic materials, among others.' Meanwhile, DO 007, s. 2024, titled the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Revised School-Based Management System, stressed that school communities have a shared duty to ensure that learning environments are safe, secure, inclusive, resilient, and learner-centered. The Department of Education Central Office had strongly denounced the recent incident of violence that happened at Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Nueva Ecija, in which two individuals were hurt. Police earlier said a 15-year-old female student was in critical condition after her ex-boyfriend shot her inside a classroom in Barangay Rizal. The victim was shot in the neck after the 18-year-old suspect entered the classroom "without provocation." Citing witnesses, police narrated that the suspect drew a .22 caliber firearm from his waist and shot the victim before turning the gun on himself. The 18-year-old man passed away more than 24 hours after the shooting. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News

Marcos wants contractors of failed Iloilo flood control projects to be held liable
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. wants contractors behind the failed flood control projects in Iloilo City to be held liable, adding that they should be blacklisted. During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the President already tasked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to identify those responsible for these failed flood control projects. Castro mentioned that the President saw these delayed and questionable projects during his visit to Iloilo City on Wednesday. ''Ayon sa Pangulo, bilyun-bilyon ang ginastos para sa mga flood control projects na sana'y nakakatulong nang maibsan ang pinsalang dulot ng bagyo at habagat. Ngunit, ilang taon na ang lumipas at paulit-ulit pa rin ang dinaranas ng taumbayan,'' Castro said. (According to the President, billions have been spent for these flood control projects in hopes that these will address the impact of tropical cyclones and southwest monsoon. However, years have passed but our kababayans still encounter the same problems.) During his last State of the Nation Address, Marcos tasked the DPWH to submit a list of all flood control projects in the last three years and publish it in order for the public to know who should be held accountable. Still, the President ensured that the DPWH would not conduct the audit or review of the flood control projects. If proven that contractors are involved in corruption, Marcos said they would be blacklisted from the government. On Monday, Marcos urged the public to lodge report about anomalous flood control projects through the —VAL, GMA Integrated News
