Nitish Kumar asks education department to speed up recruitment of teachers
Mr. Kumar asserted that the state government has already clarified that the benefit of 35% reservation for women in recruitment will be given only to women domiciles in Bihar.
The Bihar Cabinet on July 8, 2025 made domicile mandatory for accessing the 35% reservation for women in State government jobs. Previously, women from outside Bihar could also benefit from the reservation policy, which was introduced by the State government in 2016.
Mr. Kumar posted a message on social media platform 'X' saying, 'I have instructed the Education Department to immediately count the vacancies for teachers in government schools and take action to conduct the TRE 4 examination for appointments as soon as possible.'
— Nitish Kumar (@NitishKumar) July 16, 2025
In January, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary had announced that more than 80,000 teachers are going to be appointed in the fourth phase of TRE before the assembly election. He had also said that around 20,000 vacant posts were left in TRE-3 and these posts would be included in TRE-4 which means at least 1 lakh posts are vacant.
Keeping the assembly election in mind, Mr. Kumar has given special attention to the jobs and recruitment. On July 15 itself, the Bihar cabinet gave its nod for creation of new one crore jobs and employment opportunities in the state over the next five years.
Recently, Mr. Kumar had announced so far, over 10 lakh youth in the state have been provided with government jobs, and approximately 39 lakh people have been given employment.
Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Chitaranjan Gagan termed the announcement of Chief Minister to conduct TRE-4 for teacher recruitment as a mere election slogan.
'He still asking for vacancies from the education department whereas the government already has the data of vacancies available. More than 3 lakh teacher posts are vacant in Bihar. If the Chief Minister's intentions are clear for teacher recruitment, then he will have to immediately issue a notification for recruitment with domicile and start the process of recruitment,'Mr. Gagan said.
He further said, 'The Chief Minister suddenly remembered TRE-4 when half of July has passed and the announcement of Bihar assembly elections is going to be made in the next one and a half months. According to the working style of the NDA government, even if the notification is issued now, it will get stuck in the model code of conduct (MCC).'

Over 71% Dalit Voters Fear Losing Their Vote in Bihar SIR: Survey
New Delhi: Over 70% of voters from the Dalit community in Bihar have said that they fear losing their vote in the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls according to a new survey released ahead of assembly elections in the state. Despite their fears of disenfranchisement, the survey also found that 51.22% of Dalit voters have faith in the Election Commission (EC) while 27.42% do not. The survey was conducted between June 10 and July 4 by the National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Associations (NACDAOR) – an apex body of Dalit organisations in India. The survey included 18,581 samples from Scheduled Caste (SC) communities across the state. However, the question on fear of disenfranchisement as a consequence of the Bihar SIR was added only after the exercise was announced on June 24 and 8,500 samples were gathered on it. The survey results show that of those surveyed, 5,983 (71.55%) said that they fear losing their vote due to the ongoing exercise in the state, 1,959 (23.43%) said that they do not have this fear and 419 (5.01%) said that they do not have an opinion on the exercise. On the question of whether they trusted the EC, 51.22% said yes, 27.42% said no and 21.36% said that they did not know. Over 15,403 or 82.89% voters said that the scope of reservations for SC/ST/OBCs should be increased in Bihar, 9.76% said that it need not be increased and 7.34% said that they have no opinion on the matter, the survey found. Building on opposition pressure ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Union government had announced in April that caste enumeration data will be part of the population census. In June, the Union government said that the population census along with the enumeration of castes will be conducted in two phases starting October 1, 2026. Of those surveyed, 33.15% credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the caste census, while 30.81% credited leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and another 27.57% cited former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav. The survey has also revealed that unemployment remains the biggest issue for Dalit voters in the upcoming elections. Of those surveyed, 58.85% said that unemployment is the biggest issue in the election, 14.68% said health and education, 11.21% said corruption, 9.45% said law and order, while 5.81% cited migration. The survey results also show that 47.51% favoured Modi at a national level against 40.30% who favoured Gandhi. At the state-level, Tejashwi was found more favourable. Over 28% said that they favoured the RJD leader, 25.88% chose Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union minister Chirag Paswan, while 22.8% cited Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. On the question of how the Nitish Kumar government had fared in Bihar, 45.46% said 'good', 48.44% said 'bad' and 6.1% did not express any opinion. Ashok Bharti, Chairman of NACDAOR, said to The Wire that this is the "first survey of Dalits, by Dalits". The survey was conducted in collaboration with The Convergent Media. Bharti said that when the survey was being conceptualised, it was found that other such surveys often don't reach Dalits. 'This is the first unique Dalit survey done by Dalits on Dalits. If any other agency goes to them, they often don't tell the truth because they are scared. We identified Dalit activists and trained them to do the survey so we can get true responses. Hence, this is an authentic survey of the Dalits, by Dalits.' The 2023 Bihar caste survey found that people from SC communities form about 19% of Bihar's population.

Voiced sentiments of JD(U) workers: Upendra Kushwaha on suggesting Nitish Kumar give up party's control
Former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha on Monday claimed that he is in touch with "thousands of JD(U) workers" and had "voiced their sentiments" in suggesting that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should give up control of the party. Addressing a press conference here, a day after the Rashtriya Lok Morcha president had caused a flutter with his social media post, Kushwaha made it clear that he considers Nitish Kumar as an "incomparable leader, among the top five political figures in the country". Because of my past, I remain in touch with the party workers. They, too, are comfortable in sharing their sentiments with me. I had merely voiced their sentiments," claimed Kushwaha, who had quit the outfit headed by the chief minister over a couple of years ago. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Moose Approaches Girl At Bus Stop And Nudges Her To Follow - Watch What Happens Happy in Shape Undo The Rajya Sabha MP, who had been the chairman of the JD(U) parliamentary board, was of the view that Bihar's longest-serving CM would do better to concentrate on running the government "in the interests of the state". However, Kushwaha was also of the view that the 75-year-old JD(U) president would do well by giving up the reins of the party, which has found "new hope" in Nishant, the reclusive son of Kumar. Live Events Kushwaha, however, evaded a direct reply on queries about the prospects of Nishant. "I am not sure what is in the mind of Nishant or Nitish Kumar ji. But, of course, anybody is free to enter politics. As per the Constitution, a person willing to enter politics cannot be lawfully prevented from doing so even by his closest family members," Kushwaha said cryptically. He announced that his party will be holding a rally in Patna on September 5. The remarks of Kushwaha, who has been in and out of JD(U) at least thrice, seem to have left the party in disarray. JD(U) chief state spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar reacted to Kushwaha's statement, saying, "Only Nitish Kumar can take a decision on Nishant." He asserted that the party has full faith in the leadership of the patriarch. Kumar has been the JD(U)'s supreme leader ever since it was formed in 2003 and though he has been its national president for more than a year, for the most part, the top post has been held by his key aides.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now USCIS in its official statement has confirmed that they have reached the 65,000 visa regular cap. As of now, the agency admitted that it will go on to process petitions that are exempt from the cap. These includes: Present H-1B workers in the U.S. can continue their work and apply to extend their stay. Not only this, the visa holders can request to switch to their job terms or change to choose a new employer. The other exception is some workers can even be allowed to work for more than one employer at the same time under H-1B. On this note, let's have a look at what is H-1B Visa is and the benefits it brings to the holders: What is the H-1B visa? To understand in simple words, the H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa which allows US employers to hire workers from foreign nations in specialty knowledge or skills. It could be in the field of engineering, IT, healthcare, and research. The visa program is run by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). For those who don't know, it is among the most sought-after visas for skilled professionals from across the globe. Now every year in the month of March, employers submit electronic registrations for potential candidates but if applications exceed the cap, USCIS conducts a lottery to select applications. Qualifications needed Those who wish to qualify for an H-1B visa, the applicant must hold at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in related fields. On the other hand, the U.S. employer must show that the job is a 'specialty occupation' that requires such a degree. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now What is the cap? The USCIS has put a cap of 65,000 on new H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2026. Benefits of holding H-1B Visa One of the prime benefits of holding the H-1B visa is that the document allows professionals to live and work in the U.S. for up to three years. They can also extend the visa to a maximum of six years in some cases. H-1B holders can also apply for permanent residency/green card if their employer sponsors them. The H-1B holders are also allowed to bring their immediate family members, which includes spouse and kids under 21, to the U.S. on H-4 dependent visas. In special cases, spouses (dependent visa) are also allowed to work in the U.S. While the window for new H-1B applications for fiscal year 2026 has closed, new applicants will have to wait for 2027 for the registration process to begin.
