Bengaluru Blasters bounce back with five-wicket win over Gulbarga Mystics
Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], 14 August (ANI): The Bengaluru Blasters put aside the emotions from their previous game and played with panache, as they stormed past the Gulbarga Mystics with a five-wicket win here in the Shriram Capital Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, according to a release from Maharaja Trophy. Having won the toss at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Stadium, the Bengaluru Blasters bowled with precision, striking from the get-go, before a brilliant last-wicket 45-run partnership gave the Gulbarga Mystics something to defend. Once the bowlers were done, LR Chethan took centre stage and guided the Bengaluru Blasters over the line in the 15th over of the chase. The Gulbarga Mystics were off to a quick start as Luvnith Sisodia smashed a couple of sixes off the very first over. That stung the Bengaluru Blasters, who roared back with three quick wickets before the end of the powerplay. Sisodia scored 13 off nine balls before Vidyadhar Patil castled him, after which Nikin Jose was dismissed for 1 by Naveen MG, and Prajwal Pavan added 2 to the cause before Mohsin Khan had his number. The right-handed batter took charge and scored freely. Chethan's counterattack meant the Bengaluru Blasters finished the powerplay with the score at 53/2. Bhuvan Raju, who had walked in at one-drop, scored 2 before Monish Reddy dismissed him. At this point, the Bengaluru Blasters, who had the momentum on their side, scored 22 runs of the sixth over. After that, the Gulbarga Mystics regrouped and struck, picking up crucial wickets. The opener was the aggressor in the final phase of the match and finished with an unbeaten 75 off 48 balls, with 10 boundaries and three maximums. Nicholas Pooran to lead Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2025
Port of Spain [Trinidad and Tobago], August 14 (ANI): Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have announced Nicholas Pooran as their new captain for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025. Pooran will take over the mantle of leadership from the legendary Kieron Pollard, who has led the side with distinction since 2019, guiding them to their record fourth title in 2020, as per a release from the leadership role, Nicholas Pooran said, 'It means a lot, first and foremost, to represent Trinbago Knight Riders. It is a privilege that I'm getting the opportunity to lead this franchise. I want to give it my best shot and hopefully make as many correct decisions as I can."'It's a responsibility that has been passed on from (Dwayne) Bravo (2013 – 2019) to Pollard (2019 – 2024) and now to me. For me, the most satisfying thing is that Pollard is still playing, Sunil (Narine) and Andre (Russell) are here too. That's a lot of experience I can bank on. To lead them on the field – it means a lot to me," he said, as quoted from a release by recalled that he started his career at the age of 17 right here, playing for T&T Red Steel, where Bravo was the captain.'Then, after recovering from a career-threatening accident I suffered in 2015, Pollard picked me in the Barbados franchise, where he was my captain.
