Police say ‘Turun Anwar' rally drew 18,000, ended without incident
Despite the large turnout, Mohamed Usuf said the protest was peaceful.
'We would like to say thank you to those who participated in the rally today, for not stirring any unwanted trouble.
'So far, we have not received any police reports,' he told a press conference here after the crowd had dispersed.
When asked if anyone would be called in for investigation, Mohamed Usuf said police would typically carry out a post-mortem before deciding if further action is necessary.
More than 2,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the rally, which began at 11am before protesters marched to Dataran Merdeka at noon.
The rally lasted for three hours and ended without incident.

MELAKA, July 29 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Melaka branch busted a misappropriation operation involving subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth RM40,000 during a raid under Op Gasak 2025 in Malim Jaya here yesterday. Its director Mohd Hazimin Jamaludin said three Myanmar nationals, aged 23 and 24, were arrested during the 7pm raid while transferring subsidised 14-kg LPG into 50-kg industrial cylinders using illegal connector hoses. 'This premises was used for decanting without any valid approval, a serious violation that exploits government subsidies meant for the public,' he told a press conference here today. The enforcement team seized 107 units of 14-kg subsidised LPG, 59 units of 50-kg cylinders, and 20 rubber hoses from the site. Dr Mohd Hazimin added that the case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961, which provides for fines up to RM1 million or three years' imprisonment, or both, for individuals, and RM2 million in fines for companies. 'We will continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement under the KITA GEMPUR initiative to curb such leakages and protect public interest,' he said. Malaysia praised for brokering Thai-Cambodia ceasefire by MCBA
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA) has commended Malaysia's leadership role in brokering an immediate ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, following a special meeting held in Putrajaya yesterday. MCBA founding president Datuk Seri Ricky Yaw praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his proactive diplomacy, noting that MCBA, as a platform dedicated to regional economic cooperation, welcomes Malaysia's leadership in his capacity as ASEAN Chair. He said Anwar's efforts had brought the leaders of both countries to Kuala Lumpur for urgent dialogue in response to escalating tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border.
