"Governor assured that he would send a letter in this regard to the CM and request him to study it. He also asked the delegation to meet the CM in this regard," state RJD secretary Kailash Yadav, who was a part of the delegation, said.

Better law and order must for any states development: Jharkhand Guv Gangwar
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Ranchi, Aug 15 (PTI) Maintaining that better law and order is key for the development of any state, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday said Jharkhand has waged a war against menaces like Naxalism and illegal drugs trade. The governor made the statement after hoisting the national flag at the 79th Independence Day function in Ranchi, in a departure from tradition. 'Stringent action is being taken against Naxalism, and as a result, 197 Naxalites were arrested, 17 killed, and 10 were forced to surrender," he said. Gangwar said the state government destroyed opium cultivation on thousands of acres in a severe jolt to the illegal drugs trade. Speaking on the state's welfare initiatives, he said the government has waived off farm loans worth Rs 2,300 crore, benefitting 5 lakh farmers. 'The government is committed to augmenting the state's infrastructure. Projects worth Rs 13,000 crore to build highways of 3,800 km are underway in the state," he said. Gangwar said the World Bank has applauded the state's Maiya Samman Yojna, under which 51 lakh women are getting Rs 2,500 as monthly assistance. As per established protocol, the chief minister hoists the tricolour at Morabadi in Ranchi, while the governor presides over the ceremony in Dumka, the sub-capital of the state. However, due to the death of JMM founder Shibu Soren, his son, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is camping at his ancestral village of Nemra to perform the 'shradh' rituals. ‘Dissolve Lok Sabha, conduct fresh elections': TMC's Abhishek Banerjee amid alleged voter list irregularities
Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday launched a fierce attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), demanding dissolution of the Lok Sabha and fresh elections, citing widespread irregularities in the voter list. Speaking at the Kolkata airport, he questioned the integrity of the electoral process and accused the BJP of using a tampered voter list to come to power. 'In one EPIC number, there are multiple voters. And this is not data provided by any political party, this is ECI's data. Why should the BJP defend the ECI?' Banerjee asked, challenging the ruling party to respond. He alleged that BJP's silence and the crackdown on protesting opposition MPs in Delhi were signs of a cover-up. His comments followed a protest in Delhi where MPs from the INDIA bloc, including several TMC representatives, were detained by police. 'If they had honest answers, they would have engaged in a discussion yesterday. Instead, the MPs were arbitrarily detained. Women MPs were harassed and dragged to the PS. Our MP Mitali Bag fell unconscious,' he said. Reports also indicated TMC MP Mahua Moitra fainted during the crackdown. Banerjee demanded 'criminal proceedings against the former CEC' if the voter list was tampered with and action against anyone who won based on it — 'including the Prime Minister and Home Minister.' He said he was ready to resign: 'The BJP came to power using this same voter list. If needed, I will also resign. Let there be fresh elections.' 'It cannot be that your voter list was all clear and Bengal's is faulty,' he asserted, calling the voter fraud issue a national problem and accusing BJP of deflecting blame to opposition-ruled states. Independence Day celebration to be low-key affair in Jharkhand as a mark of respect to Shibu Soren
RANCHI: Independence Day celebrations will be a low-key affair this time in Jharkhand as a mark of respect to the late tribal icon and founding patron of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Shibu Soren. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will unfurl the flag at Morabadi Maidaan in Ranchi, as Chief Minister Hemant Soren, supposed to unfurl the tri-colour, will have to perform the Shraddha-Karma of his father Shibu Soren. According to an official communique from the Chief Minister's Office, the Governor was given a proposal by the State Government to hoist the flag at Morhabadi on the occasion of Independence Day 2025, for which he has given his consent. 'Therefore, the Governor will hoist the flag at the State function of Independence Day organised at Morabadi. As per tradition, every year on Independence Day, the Governor hoists the flag in the sub-capital Dumka and the Chief Minister hoists the flag at Morabadi,' stated the official communique. In addition to that, the 'At Home Program' organised every year on the occasion of Independence Day at Raj Bhavan will also not be organised this year in honour of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren this year.
