EastEnders star who played Michael Moon unrecognisable in new ITV drama
Stephen Shepherd played the role of Michael Moon in the BBC One soap from 2010-2013. He was the cousin of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and also the biological father of Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).
Michael Moon was a dark and manipulative character. He began a relationship with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and married her in 2012. Janine gave birth to their daughter Scarlett, but left Michael not long after once she realised he had no intention of committing properly to their relationship and being a dad.
Michael was killed in 2013 following a showdown between him, Janine and Alice Branning.
Alice found Michael attempting to strangle Janine and stabbed him. This didn't kill Michael, as he then got up and tried to attack Janine again. It was in this moment that Janine stabbed him, which ultimately led to his death.
Stephen, who is 51, can now be seen in the second series of Karen Pirie on ITV.
The star plays Karen's superior DCS Lees, who often finds it difficult to trust his colleague.
The actor looks worlds away from his role as Michael Moon in this, as he is often seen wearing glasses and also doesn't have any hair!
'Michael Moon back on the telly! #KarenPirie', one user of X said recently, expressing their surprise.
Echoing the shock this person said: 'Another great series. Great cast, love Pirie's character….and finally worked out why her boss sounded familiar. Michael Moon!! More please!'. More Trending
Another added: 'I've finally sat down to watch #KarenPirie from the beginning as I didn't see it the first time, and imagine my surprise when I see Michael Moon from Eastenders pop up!'.
Crime drama Karen Pirie is based on Val McDermid's Inspector Karen Pirie novels.

Gemma Collins' 'risky move after 2 stone weight loss with something to prove'
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins is said to be close to signing a big money deal which could see her return to the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle She's the diva who's never far from a headline – and Gemma Collins is set to grab some more as she prepares to head back into the jungle, nearly a decade after her famous early exit. This time, however, it's a whole different ballgame and there's serious money (and pride) on the line. The 43-year-old reality star is said to be close to signing a deal to take part in I'm A Celebrity: All Stars, the spin-off series filming this autumn and due to hit our screens next year. Insiders say the offer is 'too good to turn down'. A source claims to new, ' ITV bosses love Gemma because they know they'll get plenty of drama and some fabulous diva moments. She might not last long – in fact, she probably won't – but that will make it funny and unmissable viewing. They want her in there, they know the GC is a box office winner. Love her or loathe her, whether she cries, stamps her feet or has people in stitches, she'll win viewers and that's what they want. 'Gemma has been keeping a relatively low profile – by GC standards – so she knows this could be a real boost. There's an awful lot riding on it. Following years of weight battles she has lost two stone recently, she's in a good place. She's feeling more confident than ever and has said she can't wait to show off her body in a bikini on the show.' But while the big payday may sound like a dream come true – her potential fee is rumoured to be £150, 000, a far cry from the £40,000 she was reportedly given for her first jungle stint in 2014 – there's no denying it comes with a lot of pressure. The jungle whispers come after a difficult time for the former TOWIE star, who revealed last month that she'd been forced to beef up security at her Essex home after being targeted by a stalker – an ordeal she described as one of the most 'frightening' experiences of her life. A big jungle return could be just the boost she needs. But can she go the distance this time? Fans will remember her short-lived appearance in 2014, where she made her mark but faced criticism when she dramatically left after just three days. Who could forget her helicopter meltdown, her flat-out refusal to eat jungle food and those teary confessions in the Bush Telegraph? It was peak GC and that's why appearing on the All Stars edition, to be filmed in South Africa, could be a golden opportunity. Previously sharing the real reason she quit back in 2014, she explained, 'My time was short in the jungle and not many people know that I was robbed and physically attacked 24 hours before leaving for Australia. I didn't want to let anyone down, so I still went in. However, I was in a terrible state and shock, as you can imagine, and couldn't see it through. 'I took lots of stick over it, but if you was robbed and attacked and then sent into the jungle, I'm sure you would have struggled, too. I would never let anyone destroy my dreams again.' According to PR expert Lynn Carratt, Gemma will use a jungle appearance to reignite her TV career. 'She hasn't actually been on our screens since 2022, when she was in a segment on BBC 's Springwatch. She also had a guest section on The Big Breakfast as an agony aunt. 'I don't think she'll be doing this for the money. She's got over 2 million followers on Instagram and is doing lucrative brand deals every week. She's just done one with Netflix for the series Too Much and she has an active sculpt collection at Debenhams. 'Reality TV, however, is Gemma's bread and butter, from TOWIE to Dancing On Ice to her own reality show. That's how she started and how she made her name. With the jungle, she has a lot to prove. She lasted three days last time. People are going to want to see her go through it. She's dramatic, entertaining and unpredictable. 'Everything's been a bit up and down for Gemma, but she's looking great, she's lost two stone and she'll probably lose more before any filming begins. She might feel fitter and be able to handle jungle life better. It's not for the faint-hearted. It's a risk, but if she can prove herself, it could propel her back into the spotlight in a big way.' Well, if the GC back in the jungle is on next year's bingo card, we're here for it!

Airport star Jeremy Spake unrecognisable three decades later after 'bullying' claim
Jeremy Spake was a surprise hit on BBC TV series Airport nearly 30 years ago – he has gone on to have an impressive career, but looks very different with a bald head and no goatee Jeremy Spake, who first shot to fame an incredible 29 years ago on the BBC series Airport, is now barely recognisable. The show, similar to ITV's own hit Airline, offered viewers a sneak peek into the daily operation of Heathrow Airport and the planes flying from there. Now aged 55, Jeremy was featured on the programme in 1996 during his tenure as a ground services manager for Russian airline Aeroflot. Jeremy quickly became a fan favourite during his appearance on the show, which subsequently opened doors to further television opportunities. He went on to present Toughest Jobs in Britain, a documentary series that shadowed workers in some of the UK's most demanding and strenuous jobs, as well as the medical programme City Hospital. He also penned two books, titled Jeremy's Airport and The Toughest Job in Britain, reports OK!. Jeremy's Airport drew from his experiences working at Heathrow, guiding readers through a typical week on the job, while The Toughest Job in Britain saw him reflect on some of the incredibly challenging jobs he tried his hand at while hosting the eponymous show. While pursuing his media career, Jeremy was also steadily climbing the corporate ladder in his day job. Fluent in Russian, Jeremy eventually rose to the position of services manager for Aeroflot before being promoted to Deputy Director of Isle of Man Airport. However, Jeremy decided to step back from his role at the Isle of Man airport, citing 'bullying, harassment and mobbing on an almost industrial scale' on his LinkedIn page. In 2023, it was reported that he was suing the Isle of Man government for personal injuries, claiming his mental health was damaged. He went on to host a six-part documentary series that was broadcast on the BBC, The Airport: Back In The Skies. The new series saw Jeremy revisiting his origins, reconnecting with some old mates, and taking an in-depth look at how the industry was bouncing back after the coronavirus pandemic. Filming for The Airport: Back In The Skies commenced in October 2021, following roughly eighteen months of lockdown restrictions, travel bans, and vaccine passports, while the airport was in the process of picking up the pieces and resuming full service. Fortunately, Jeremy isn't one to shy away from getting involved and assisted in preparing a Boeing 737 for flight and stepped in to aid stranded tourists caught in the midst of the chaos. The star also has his own audio book, Jeremy's Airport Audio Book, which retells the story of Airport with additional commentary and new stories that never made it into the original BBC TV series. And in another string to Jeremy's bow, he has a YouTube channel, Jezza TV (The Jeremy Spake Channel). Jeremy remained as popular with fans as ever, but some were taken aback by his drastically different appearance this time around. The star was once recognised for his chestnut hair and matching beard, but is now sporting a clean-cut look. His Instagram account reveals him to have a bald head and he is now clean-shaven. On the site, Jeremy describes himself as: "Author, Broadcaster and Entrepreneur with a passion for travel and helping others. There's more to Jeremy than just being the 'Man from Airport!'"

Tamzin Outhwaite addresses 'still seeing' ex Tom Child over a year on from split
Ex EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite opened up about her close bond with her ex-partner Tom Child, over a year on from announcing their split after six years together Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite said she still sees her ex-partner Tom Child "a lot", despite their split. The 54-year-old announced she had parted ways with Tom, who is 20 years her junior, last summer after six years together. While exes tend to go their separate ways, Tamzin said she and her two children, Flo and Marnie, have remained closed to him - and he even has a key to her house. Speaking about her family life on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe, she said her children still "love" Tom, who she referred to as her "mate". Quizzed on how often he is at her home, she replied: "A lot. He lives literally around the corner in a flat, and if there's any food [left] over, he eats everything." Tamzin went on to say her home is "an open house", which often has many visitors including Tom, and her children's former nanny Michelle. Additionally, the actress' father lives with her, but in a separate part of the home. "I would say it's an open house, in the same way I'd say my parents house was open," she continued. "I think I've created something that is the only thing I knew." Tamzin went on to describe her abode as a "house of fun" with "a lot of laughter", and joked that whoever comes through the door has to "lift the vibes even more". She added: "Because I'm still such a massive kid, and my ex is actually a kid because he's 20 years younger than me, so he really is one." Last month, Tamzin referred to Tom as one of her "best friends" who she "adored". Speaking of them staying in contact, she said on Hello! Magazine's Second Act podcast: "I didn't want to never see him again, so we're mates, which feels very grown up." Reflecting on adapting to single life, she added: "I'm in a phase where I need to be on my own now. I don't want to share a bed. I want to be on my own." Should the actress find love again in the future however, she is keen to keep them at a distance. "I do think one day I will meet someone and have a nice time, but they won't share my house," she admitted. Tom was Tamzin's first known long-term partner following the breakdown of her marriage to Lucifer star Tom Ellis, the father of her two children. The former couple called it quits after eight years together in 2014, due to his alleged infidelity. Tom has since found love again with actress Meaghan Oppenheimer, who he married in 2019 and shares an almost two-year-old daughter with. Meanwhile, in her latest interview, Tamzin announced that her eldest child Flo is transgender. She told Rob and Josh: "I've got two kids and I did have two daughters and now I have a son and a daughter, and that's quite easy for me to to say now but it wasn't maybe six or seven years ago. "We live in a very happy household now, full of jokes, and it's my favourite place to be at home." Addressing her reaction to the change at first, she added: "What I did initially, I was like 'don't be ridiculous', I didn't say don't be ridiculous but my mind went to 'that's ludicrous' and working back from that to talking through it."
