Tamzin Outhwaite addresses 'still seeing' ex Tom Child over a year on from split

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Ex EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite opened up about her close bond with her ex-partner Tom Child, over a year on from announcing their split after six years together
Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite said she still sees her ex-partner Tom Child "a lot", despite their split. The 54-year-old announced she had parted ways with Tom, who is 20 years her junior, last summer after six years together.

While exes tend to go their separate ways, Tamzin said she and her two children, Flo and Marnie, have remained closed to him - and he even has a key to her house.

Speaking about her family life on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe, she said her children still "love" Tom, who she referred to as her "mate".

Quizzed on how often he is at her home, she replied: "A lot. He lives literally around the corner in a flat, and if there's any food [left] over, he eats everything."
Tamzin went on to say her home is "an open house", which often has many visitors including Tom, and her children's former nanny Michelle. Additionally, the actress' father lives with her, but in a separate part of the home.
"I would say it's an open house, in the same way I'd say my parents house was open," she continued. "I think I've created something that is the only thing I knew."

Tamzin went on to describe her abode as a "house of fun" with "a lot of laughter", and joked that whoever comes through the door has to "lift the vibes even more".
She added: "Because I'm still such a massive kid, and my ex is actually a kid because he's 20 years younger than me, so he really is one."

Last month, Tamzin referred to Tom as one of her "best friends" who she "adored".
Speaking of them staying in contact, she said on Hello! Magazine's Second Act podcast: "I didn't want to never see him again, so we're mates, which feels very grown up."
Reflecting on adapting to single life, she added: "I'm in a phase where I need to be on my own now. I don't want to share a bed. I want to be on my own."

Should the actress find love again in the future however, she is keen to keep them at a distance.
"I do think one day I will meet someone and have a nice time, but they won't share my house," she admitted.

Tom was Tamzin's first known long-term partner following the breakdown of her marriage to Lucifer star Tom Ellis, the father of her two children.
The former couple called it quits after eight years together in 2014, due to his alleged infidelity.
Tom has since found love again with actress Meaghan Oppenheimer, who he married in 2019 and shares an almost two-year-old daughter with.

Meanwhile, in her latest interview, Tamzin announced that her eldest child Flo is transgender.
She told Rob and Josh: "I've got two kids and I did have two daughters and now I have a son and a daughter, and that's quite easy for me to to say now but it wasn't maybe six or seven years ago.
"We live in a very happy household now, full of jokes, and it's my favourite place to be at home."
Addressing her reaction to the change at first, she added: "What I did initially, I was like 'don't be ridiculous', I didn't say don't be ridiculous but my mind went to 'that's ludicrous' and working back from that to talking through it."

New EastEnders star is a nepo baby as famous family members who have also starred in BBC soap are revealed

Max Murray has landed a role in EastEnders alongside legendary stars but it has now been revealed he comes from a long-line of actors and singers in his family. The youngster has been portraying character Joel Marshall since February this year but it turns out he is actually following in his famous mum's footsteps. Max is the son of actress Gina Murray, who has starred in a number of well known programmes including The Bill, Doctors and The Hunt for Raoul Moat and appeared in the BBC soap back in 2014 playing Helen. Gina's character Helen arrived in Albert Square as a hair specialist to help Carol Jackson, who was struggling with losing her hair as she fought off cancer. It was Helen's role to help Carol find a wig. Max is also the nephew of Mazz Murray, who is a successful TV and theatre actress, starring in Sunset Boulevard, Mamma Mia and Chicago to name but a few. In 2004, Mazz also starred on EastEnders as a waitress called Miranda who had a brawl with Heather Trott and Shirley Carter. The youngster has been portraying character Joel Marshall since February this year but turns out he is actually following in his famous mum's footsteps In 2017, Mazz returned to Walford but this time was playing a character called Julie, who was a divorced woman who hired Keanu Taylor as a male escort for a night of fun and frolics. Max's character Joel is the step-son of Vicky Fowler, who returned to the square for the funeral of her uncle Martin Fowler. Her new boyfriend Ross is played by Alex Walkinshaw. At the time when Max's role was announced, he told the Mirror: 'It's an absolute privilege and honour to be joining such a wonderful production full of a lovely cast and crew. 'I'm really looking forward to introducing Joel to EastEnders viewers and telling his story.' It comes as EastEnders favourite Nicholas Bailey will make a shock return as Dr. Anthony Trueman to the soap, more than a decade since he was last seen in Walford. The character – son of Patrick Trueman (played by Rudolph Walker) – will be back on screens in scenes to air in the summer. Anthony first arrived on the Square in 2000 and quickly made waves, thanks in part to a steamy romance with Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace). Now, 11 years on from his last stint, the GP is set for a dramatic reunion with his dad this summer as Patrick and Yolande prepare to tie the knot. Anthony last appeared in EastEnders in 2014 when he rushed to his father's side when Patrick suffered a stroke. Since then, he has led a life away from Walford but in upcoming scenes viewers will see he is invited to his father's impending nuptials and decides to return for the occasion. In a post on the official Eastenders Instagram account, the long running soap teased the visit to Walford comes at a significant moment for Patrick, which means Anthony stays longer than he originally intended. In a statement, executive producer Ben Wadey said: 'It's great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. 'But Anthony's plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.' Nicholas who will reprise the iconic role added: 'It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I'm full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony. 'It's wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again - he's such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long.

Tamzin Outhwaite addresses painful co-parenting journey after Tom Ellis cheating claims

Tamzin Outhwaite reveals the emotional toll of co-parenting after Tom Ellis' alleged infidelities, saying he's now "in and out" of their children's lives Tamzin Outhwaite has laid bare the fallout from her failed marriage to Lucifer star Tom Ellis, revealing that he's now 'in and out' of their children's lives - and that she's still discovering the extent of his betrayal, even a decade later. ‌ Speaking candidly on the Parenting Hell podcast, the EastEnders actress, 54, opened up about the painful split. She went on to detail her life now, including the difficulty of co-parenting with him, and the pride she feels in how far she and her family have come. ‌ Tamzin and Tom tied the knot in 2006, introduced by actor James McAvoy. But their nine-year marriage ended in 2014 after Ellis reportedly confessed to an affair with Lost actress Emilie de Ravin. In 2023, she stunned fans with a now-deleted tweet marking the 10-year anniversary of the day Ellis walked out. ‌ "I still meet new people on jobs who reveal more infidelities and lies that he committed," she wrote. "But thankfully my heart and soul are clear and clean and I could not be happier right now." She later added: "I was marking the 10-year anniversary with pride... a feeling of triumph and genuine gratitude." For anyone struggling, the most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself." Tamzin shares two children with Ellis - Flo, 17, and Marnie, 12. When podcast host Josh Widdicombe mentioned the split happened "about 10 years ago," she replied: "Yeah, it was literally when the kids were tiny. Marnie was not even one." ‌ And on Ellis' role in their lives now, she commented, 'He lives in LA. So he's pretty in and out of their lives, but they have a lot of support and people that have been around." Opening up further about her family life, Tamzin revealed how her eldest child, Flo, came out as transgender around age 10 or 11."I did have two daughters and now I have a son and a daughter," she said. "That's quite easy for me to say now, but it wasn't maybe six or seven years ago." She admitted the early days were difficult: "There were some dark times... It was a very distressing time." ‌ "Initially, I would say, don't be ridiculous. I didn't say it out loud, but my mind went, 'That's ludicrous.'' The family has sought therapy and support, with Tamzin admitting, "We worked together as a family and with outside help," she said. "If you push back on a kid, they'll want to do the opposite. I didn't say, 'You can't be that,' but it was tough." Now, she is incredibly happy with her inspiring children. The ex-soap star shared, "He's an incredibly funny, intelligent boy… an incredible actor, desperate to be a comedy writer." Outhwaite said."To see him thriving is just nothing but relief and joy for me." ‌ Since the split, Ellis has remarried—tying the knot with screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2019. Tamzin was in a long-term relationship with filmmaker Tom Child, which ended recently, though she still calls him her "best mate" and says he's often around. When discussing public conversations around trans rights, Tamzin said, "It really is less than one per cent of the population… but I'm just so happy for him." "The whole LGBT community get a bit of a hard rap at the moment – it's quite tough," adding, "Every situation is different, every child is different… You're not alone."
