Nushrratt Bharuccha Recalls Being Replaced By ‘Flavour Of The Season': ‘Wasn't A Star Kid'
Nushrratt Bharuccha recalled that she was replaced in a film despite being officially signed for the project for 3 years.
Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha has come a long way in her acting career, but her journey has not been easy. She has seen her fair share of ups and downs. In a recent interview, she recalled a painful experience of being replaced in a film, despite being officially signed for it for 3 years! When asked whether she was replaced by a star kid, she said that her situation was different, and that she was instead replaced by someone who had become the 'flavour of the season', and had recently become popular. The actress revealed that she was shocked and felt cheated, especially because she had remained committed for 3 years, at a time when the film had no director or lead hero!
While speaking with Nayandeep Rakshit, Nushrratt Bharuccha was asked if she was ever replaced by a star kid. She replied, 'Mera thoda alag tha. I was locked. I was the only person signed on that film for 3 years. Film never took off for 3 years. Then finally, everything fell into place. I have a signed contract of that film lying in my house, till date. I will not say the film's name, because I have no interest in discrediting anyone or picking u p a fight. No need. Signed hai. No hero, no director and no producer. I was the only one who was signed. And suddenly the film went on fast track, and we're doing it. They got a good hero, a good director, everything got set up. And they called me and said, 'We don't want to do it with you now.' I said 'what do you mean? I was signed for 3 years!' And I have supported and stood by this film. Even when it had nobody else."
The 'Chhorii 2' actress clarified that she wasn't replaced by a star kid, but by someone who had become popular back then. 'I stood by and supported the subject and the film for three years. I said, for what? But it wasn't a star kid who got cast. It was the flavour of the season that got cast. Somebody who had just become popular. And it was a smarter decision for them to take the more popular name over me at that time. I felt bad but I felt okay, because it was somebody else getting a chance," she said.
When asked if she felt cheated, she replied, 'Of course. I had voiced it and called people and said that if I wasn't locked for it, you had the choice to say 'Nushrratt nahi, koi aur.' Theek hai. No problem. But I was locked. I was signed for 3 years. I still have the contract." She shared that she was initially signed by the presenters and the studio, while the rest of the team — including the director — was brought on board much later. When asked whether the film performed well, she replied, 'Not so much."

Amid the hype surrounding Ahaan Panday, fans have discovered his private Instagram account. The username of the alleged private account is @ and it has the image of a dog playing a guitar as its display picture. While Ahaan hasn't confirmed that the account belongs to him, fans are convinced that it is indeed the actor's private account, as it is followed by Ananya Panday, Aneet Padda, Khushi Kapoor, Tara Sutaria, Alaya F, Aisha Ahmed and Prit Kamani, to name a few. Have a look here: It is not uncommon for Bollywood celebrities to have private accounts. Previously, Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor have also admitted that they have a 'finsta' for their close friends and family. Several celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, have mentioned that even Ranbir Kapoor uses a private account to keep a tab on social media. As for Ahaan's alleged finsta, at the time of publishing, the account has 508 followers and 206 posts. The account follows 1603 other accounts. Meanwhile, Saiyaara is proving to be a box office beast, and it's doing what most romantic dramas rarely manage — pulling massive crowds and raking in serious money. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide in just nine days, making it one of the biggest box office stories of 2025. According to early estimates as quoted by trade tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara earned around Rs 30 crore (India net) on its tenth day, that is Sunday. With strong word of mouth and no real competition at the moment, the film's theatrical run is expected to continue at full throttle into the coming week. At this pace, Saiyaara could soon surpass the lifetime collection of Kabir Singh (Rs 377 crore) — which would make it the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of all time (non-inflation-adjusted). All eyes are now on how it performs in its second full week. First Published: July 28, 2025, 11:07 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
