Rescue of Scots paddleboarder, ten, to feature in BBC documentary
Saving Lives at Sea showcases the work of RNLI crews throughout the UK and Ireland as they respond to everything from sinking ships to tidal cut-offs and kayakers in distress.
In the forthcoming episode, which will be broadcast on BBC Two, a ten-year-old boy is swept out to sea on a paddleboard in North Berwick.
His parents rush out to try and save him, but all three of them begin struggling in the water.
Volunteer helm, Fraser Fulton, along with sibling crew members Steven and Vikki Selby, race to their rescue.
Vikki, a volunteer crew member at North Berwick, said: 'I'm thrilled that North Berwick features again in such a long-running and respected series alongside our fellow lifesavers from across the RNLI.
'For my family, it'll be an extra exciting episode as my brother Steven was also on the lifeboat for this rescue, so we'll both be on the TV.
'When the public visits the station, we hear how much they appreciate a chance to see how their generous donations are used to help save lives. We are incredibly grateful for their support, as it is what we rely on to save lives at sea.'
The episode will air on Thursday, August 7, 8pm on BBC Two and iPlayer.

Another added: "Surely you must take the Repair shop off now if the presenter is accused of physical rape." A third queried: "Will the BBC be pulling repeats of The Repair Shop now?" Police confirmed the allegations against the dad of three from Shropshire. He fronted the hit BBC show for seven years before stepping back last year. King Charles appeared alongside him on a special episode in 2022. West Mercia Police confirmed charges against the dad of three, with a magistrates' court date set for next Wednesday. A spokesperson said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. The TV star is currently awaiting trial on a separate charge of controlling and coercive behaviour against estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen, which he has denied. He was arrested in May 2024 - on the same day fitness instructor Lisa announced her decision to end their 18-month marriage. In September, Blades was charged. His actions allegedly caused Lisa 'to fear, on at least two occasions, that violence will be used against her'. The presenter pleaded not guilty to the charge — which relates to the period between January 1, 2023 and September 12, 2024 — at a court hearing last October. As well as fronting The Repair Shop since 2017, Blades also hosted BBC shows including Money For Nothing and Jay Blades' Home Fix.

Gary Lineker has reportedly signed a huge deal with ITV to host a brand new celebrity game show - after leaving the BBC earlier this year following an anti-semitism row. The former Match Of The Day presenter, 64, is thought to be returning to Saturday night TV for a new show called The Box. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec 's Saturday Night Takeaway, The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge. Already a show in Norway, The Sun reports it has been dubbed as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told the publication: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ' ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC 's loss is their gain.' The source added that filming will take place in the autumn and it will air in early spring, likely with a Saturday night slot. Gary and ITV have been contacted by MailOnline for comment. Back in May Gary welled up as he delivered his final Match of the Day speech, thanking viewers for their 'love and support' and sending a message to his successors. The presenter was visibly moved by a seven-minute tribute featuring the likes of Pep Guardiola, Virgil van Dijk, Ian Wright, and even Andrea Bocelli. Lineker hosted his final BBC show and hinted at the start that it 'wasn't meant to end this way' after being axed amid an antisemitism row. He was axed after sharing a pro-Palestine Instagram video which featured an emoji of a rat, with critics accusing him of promoting a familiar anti-Semitic slur. He later apologised. At the end of his last show, wrapping up his £1.4million gig, he paid tribute to the wider team, saying: 'Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years.
