Teenager dies following road traffic collision in Co Galway last weekend

Following the collision at Ballygaddy Road in Tuam, shortly after 6pm on Sunday, the woman was taken to
University Hospital Galway
, where she has since died.
The driver and passenger of the second car, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the same hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place on Ballygaddy Road in Tuam last Sunday at approximately 6.05pm. People in the area at 5.50pm-6.15pm are asked to contact gardaí.
Drivers who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident and may have camera or dash-cam footage of the collision are asked to make that footage available to investigators.

A man has become the second e-scooter driver to die on Irish roads so far this year. Late on Sunday night gardaí and emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle collision on the Old Navan Road in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. The collision involved a car and an e-scooter. A man in his 30s, who was the driver of the e-scooter, was taken to James Connolly Hospital. He was sadly later pronounced deceased. Young father Jack Goss, 21, sadly lost his life after a road traffic incident on the Cappagh Road in Finglas, Dublin 11. The accident occurred on Father's Day, June 15. He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but passed away the following day. In a death notice, his heartbroken family said that he brought 'so much love, kindness and joy' into their lives. It continued: 'Jack's incredible spirit and big heart will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, loved ones and his community whom he loved.' Last year, four people died following a collision involving an e-scooter. This includes 15-year-old Gilbert Collins and Avuzwa Idris, 17, who sadly lost their lives after an accident involving a bus in Waterford. Cyclists and e-scooter users are 11 times more likely to sustain severe and serious injuries in road traffic collisions than motorists, according to a report by the Injuries Resolution Board. It found that in 2023, €9.8m was paid out in personal injury claims to injured cyclists and e-scooter users. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the tragic accident on Sunday night in Blanchardstown to come forward. A spokesperson said: 'Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10:40pm and 11:00pm, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Gardaí nab motorist doing 210km/h on M8 over Bank Holiday weekend
A brazen motorist was nabbed zooming at almost 100km/h above the speed limit over the Bank Holiday weekend. Gardaí have been conducting a dedicated road traffic enforcement operation throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend which commenced at 7am on Thursday, July 31 and will continue until 7am Wednesday, August 6. Gardaí stationed on the M8 in Mitchelstown, Cork over the August Bank Holiday weekend as part of the Bank Holiday Roads Policing Operation clocked one young motorist who was speeding at 210km/h in a 120 km/h zone. Drivers caught exceeding speed limits face a fixed charge fine of €160 and three penalty points. Failure to pay within 28 days increases the fine to €240. After 56 days, unpaid fines may lead to a court summons with fines of up to €1,000 and five penalty points upon conviction. Gardaí appeal for witnesses after teenager seriously injured in Kerry Bank Holiday crash
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 5.40pm on Saturday A teenager has been injured in a car crash in Kerry during the Bank Holiday weekend. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the L1029 road at Deerpark, Lixnaw, Co. Kerry which occurred on Saturday, August 2. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 5.40pm. The driver, an adult male aged in his late teens, and sole occupant of the car was airlifted to Cork University Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has now been reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and have appealed for dash-cam as investigations continued into the serious accident. 'Any road users who may have dash-cam and were travelling in the area between 5.15pm and 5.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,' they said.
