The Grand Egyptian Museum Will Be Officially Inaugurated On July 3

Egypt Today28-01-2025
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, expressed his immense pride in being entrusted with the responsibility of inaugurating the Grand Egyptian Museum. He stated, 'It has been 100 days since I took on this responsibility, and as the opening approaches, I feel a mix of pride and responsibility.'
Ghoneim emphasized that the Grand Egyptian Museum is not just an ordinary museum but a historic building and a unique gift from Egypt to the world. He announced that the opening ceremony is scheduled for July 3, 2025, and confirmed that the organization will be entirely Egyptian-led, with the United Media Services Company ( UMS) taking full responsibility.
He noted that UMS had previously achieved outstanding success in organizing the Royal Mummies Parade and the inauguration of the Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor. He assured that this celebration would be entirely different from previous events, showcasing many accomplishments that Egyptians are proud of, whether in different regions of Egypt or perhaps even abroad.
Ghoneim explained that the celebration would not be limited to a single day, saying, 'We are currently preparing multiple scenarios, and the festivities might last several days—perhaps three days, a week, or even several months. These ideas are being discussed at a high level by a committee formed by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and at an even higher level under the leadership of the Prime Minister.'

The cooperation aims to facilitate customer access to mortgage financing services through the platform, where interested clients will be able to calculate an estimated mortgage value and communicate directly with the bank via the platform. This collaboration comes within the framework of the bank's efforts to support the national economy and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 by making mortgage services more accessible and adopting innovative digital solutions. Customers seeking to purchase real estate units will be able to benefit from exclusive financing offers and advantages tailored to their needs. The cooperation also supports the government's strategy to promote Egyptian real estate regionally and internationally, especially among Egyptians working abroad, while also enhancing foreign investment in the sector by leveraging the state's official reliance on the platform to organize the real estate market. Ms. Hend Fahmy, Head of Financial Inclusion and Mortgage Financing at Banque Misr, stated that this collaboration comes within the bank's commitment to supporting the real estate sector and making access to innovative financing solutions easier. Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Ahmed Elbatrawy, Founder and Chairman of The Official Egyptian Real Estate Platform, said: 'The cooperation with Banque Misr represents a qualitative leap in the real estate market, as we connect for the first time between real estate supply and demand data and direct mortgage financing services. This step not only strengthens citizens' trust in the platform but also opens wider horizons for developers and investors, reinforcing Egypt's position as a leading real estate market in the region.' Mr. Essam Bahgat, CEO of The Official Egyptian Real Estate Platform, expressed his pride in this strategic cooperation with Banque Misr, describing it as a pivotal step toward integrating mortgage financing services within the digital property search experience. Officials discuss comprehensive development plan for the Pyramids and Saqqara area

Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Housing Sherif al-Sherbiny, and Governor of Giza Adel al-Naga, held a meeting to follow up on the latest developments regarding preparatory work on the strategic plan for the area extending between the Sphinx International Airport and the Saqqara area – including the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The plan aims to develop the area and enhance its tourism and urban development, ensuring its unique spot on the international tourism map. This is being done with the participation of the international expertise house WATG, leaders from the two ministries, the governorate, and relevant authorities. Fathy said that the plan currently being prepared to develop the area aims to transform it into one of the world's most prominent tourist and cultural destinations, within an integrated vision that balances the requirements of tourism development with the preservation of the region's unique cultural heritage. He called on fully adhering to UNESCO's instructions and requirements, given that the area is listed on the World Heritage List. This requires the application of precise standards in planning and implementation, ensuring the development of advanced tourism infrastructure and services that facilitate smooth visitor flow and provide them with a comprehensive tourism experience. Fathy emphasized the importance of preserving the region's exceptional cultural value, maintaining the privacy and majesty of its archaeological sites, and preventing any visual or architectural distortion that would detract from the region's authentic character. He added that development plans for the area should take into account the expected rate of tourist traffic and the diversity of tourist segments visiting Cairo. He further emphasized the need to carefully study the number of tourist nights expected to be spent, which will determine the necessary accommodation capacity and variety of accommodations. This will include traditional hotel rooms, hotel apartments, and luxury accommodation units, in line with the needs and aspirations of different visitor segments. Fathy emphasized the importance of enhancing the region's tourist attractions to be in line with its unique archaeological nature.
