3 model village heads from Gujarat get invited to I-Day celebrations in Delhi
Gandhinagar: The sarpanches of three model villages in Gujarat will be attending Independence Day celebration in New Delhi on Friday, on invite. Bhimasar village in Kutch district, Akhod in Bharuch, and Sultanpur in Navsari gained the distinction of 'Model Villages of Rural Development' and 'ODF Plus Model Villages', an official statement said on Thursday, adding that the elected representatives of these villages redefined rural governance by blending urban-level facilities with community-led initiatives. Bhimasar's woman sarpanch, Dai Humble, transformed her village into a clean, green, and self-sustaining community with door-to-door waste collection, a full sewage system, and the Green Bhimasar project, which encourages every family to plant 10 trees.
