Fire hit Blaenau Ffestiniog hotel 'looted' in incident branded 'vile'
Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform battled the blaze with roads closed off while emergency services worked at the scene. Everyone was safely evacuated but the fire has caused extensive damage to the property.
It has been devastating for owner Angi Scott and all the staff affected. She said they had "lost everything, except each other".
The community has rallied around them with a Gofundme set up to raise money - alongside hundreds of messages and offers of support.
But last night the hotel hit out on social media after saying someone had "looted" the burnt out property.
They posted on Facebook: "To whoever looted queens last night, the CCTV is now with police, security in building tonight and not only is the building dangerous, as a family we've lost everything, do you really want to be the person that takes the last little bit we have.
"Can people please let us know if there is anyone in there seen without a hard hat. We will be pressing charges."
Local residents were horrified at the news. One person said: "How low can you get?"
Another added: "How low can some people go! To take advantage of someone's loss and their livelihood. Shame on whoever did this."
One person posted: "Omg this is disgusting, vile."
North Wales Police have been asked to comment.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 11:09am on Saturday, 5 th of July we were called to a fire in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Multiple crews and an Aerial Ladder Platform appliance attended the incident.
"The fire caused substantial damage to the property; however all guests and staff were evacuated safely after alarms were activated. Due to the extent of the damage, we are currently unable to carry out a more detailed fire investigation until a structural engineer has assessed the building and confirmed it is safe to enter. At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown."

Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Chloe says that she was drugged and kidnapped in Italy 3 Chloe appeared on Lorraine to speak about the traumatic experience Credit: Shutterstock Editorial When the model was 21, she was drugged and kidnapped after travelling to Milan, Italy, for a photoshoot. Upon arriving at the "studio" on that day in 2017, she was driven to a remote warehouse in Truin by Lukasz Herba. Herba was a 30-year-old comuter programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who held Chloe hostage for a week. He was eventually arrested and jailed for his crime. However, in a new documentary, Chloe revealed that the horror from the kidnapping "never ends". Despite Herba being jailed for kidnapping her, the model revealed that she still faces backlash online for speaking out about his crime. Some trolls even accused her of making the entire story up. Chloe said: "It is always people who don't know the facts, they judge too quickly and jump in before knowing the full story. "You can never get offended by it really because they don't know." The star later appeared on Lorraine to promote the documentary, where she opened up more about how the doubters made her feel. She said: "I thought it would be easy, I am really not good at talking about my feelings. "I had to relive it again and I got emotional about things I hadn't before." On the ITV chat show, she also spoke about how she responded to the backlash. Chloe said: "I was constantly having to talk about his crazy decisions as if they were my own. "It was my calmness that saved me." More to follow... Serial offender threatened pub worker with knuckleduster
He also confronted a stranger with the weapon after leaving the bar. A serial offender threatened a Hamilton pub worker with a knuckleduster when he was refused a drink. Jay Gibb also confronted a stranger with the weapon after leaving the bar. Gibb, 23, of Wylie Street, Hamilton, appeared at the town's sheriff court on Friday. He admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner at Hemingways bar and in nearby Quarry Street on December 18 last year. Lewis Devoy, prosecuting, said Gibb 'stumbled through the door' of the pub about 9pm. The fiscal stated: 'He appeared to be under the influence and was told by a member of the bar staff that he wouldn't be getting served. 'The accused left but returned 10 minutes later. He had his jacket and jumper pulled up but was recognised by the same worker. 'He was again told he wouldn't be served and stated 'Do you know who I am?'. 'Gibb then took a knuckleduster from his jacket pocket and said 'Come on outside. I'm going to slash you.' 'This alarmed the employee but the accused then kicked the door open and left the pub.' A man and his girlfriend were walking on Quarry Street at this point when Gibb approached, brandishing the knuckleduster. Mr Devoy told the court: 'The accused asked 'Are you getting cheeky? I'll need to stab you.' 'This caused alarm and the couple walked away as quickly as they could. 'The accused followed briefly before turning and walking away.' The police were informed and officers spotted Gibb throwing the knuckleduster into a bin at the bus station. Gibb admitted a long list of previous convictions. At the time of these offences he was under a supervision order for brandishing a BB gun at shop staff and carrying a knife. Defence agent Gregor Jarrott said he had been doing 'exceptionally well' on the order for a time. Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentence until next month for background reports. Gibb is currently in custody for another matter. * Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Sign up to our newsletters here. And did you know Lanarkshire Live is on Facebook?
