Actions of quick-thinking police officer lead to downfall of cocaine crook
At 8.45am on May 24 this year, the officer from Cheshire Constabulary stopped a vehicle in Northwich.
The driver mentioned she was collecting a man named Enrico Poli from an address in Dock Road, Northwich, where he had been staying with a friend.

Recognising the address and the friend's name from intelligence about drug-related activity in the area, the officer alerted colleagues.
At 9.02am, a colleague attended the address in Dock Road to conduct enquiries in relation to this intelligence when they saw a man, later identified as Poli, leave the property and quickly walk away, without acknowledging the officer.
The officer attempted to engage with Poli, who refused to give any details and carried on walking, before the officer stopped him.
The 34-year-old was found in possession of £345 in cash and a snap bag of cocaine.
At Chester Crown Court Poli, aged 34, of Riding Close, Sale, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine. He was sentenced to five years and seven months in jail.
Police Constable Andy Collict said: "I welcome the substantial custodial sentence handed to Poli and I hope this sends a stark warning to anyone who thinks they can come to Northwich to sell drugs and get away with it.
'It was thanks to intelligence about drug activity in the area and officer intuition that Poli was caught as he tried to flee an address and he was left with no choice but to plead guilty to the offences.

Seven killed in latest Ecuador pool hall shooting
Gunmen shot dead at least seven people at a pool hall in the Ecuadoran city of Santo Domingo, police said Sunday, in the country's latest gruesome massacre amid soaring gang violence. "Seven people died from gunshot wounds" at a pool hall in the nightlife district of Santo Domingo, about 150 kilometers (93 miles) west of the capital Quito, national police said in a WhatsApp group with reporters. Once considered a bastion of peace in Latin America, Ecuador has been plunged into crisis after years of expansion by transnational cartels that use its ports to ship drugs to the United States and Europe. Drug trafficking organizations have been multiplying in Ecuador, where the homicide rate rose from six per 100,000 residents in 2018 to 38 per 100,000 in 2024. Between January and May, there were more than 4,051 homicides, according to official figures. Analysts say it is the most violent start to a year in the country's recent history. President Daniel Noboa's government has promised to crack down on crime, but despite widespread operations and constant states of emergency, there has been little reduction in the violence. Last weekend alone, 14 people were killed in massacres in the troubled province of Guayas, one of four provinces where Noboa recently declared a state of emergency to combat gang violence. Gangs vying for control of drug trafficking routes in Ecuador have taken advantage of the country's strategic location, its US-dollar-based economy, and the corruption of some authorities. Police and paramedics block Hyde Road after crash
Police and paramedics blocked a main road in Manchester following a crash on Sunday evening (August 17). Emergency services attended the incident along Hyde Road at around 7pm with traffic stopped in both directions. One car was seen to be damaged at the roadside with an ambulance and multiple police cars in attendance. It is not known how many other vehicles were involved. Former Nashville officer gets probation after alleged participation in adult video while on duty
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A former Nashville police officer has been sentenced to probation on a charge of felony official misconduct after law enforcement officials say he allegedly participated in an adult video while on duty. According to court documents filed Thursday, Sean Herman entered a "best interest" plea in Nashville criminal court for one count. A second count was dismissed. Herman, 35, faces one year of supervised probation. The best interest plea means that a defendant pleads guilty while maintaining factual innocence of the crime. Additionally, he was granted judicial diversion, which means that certain eligible defendants who successfully finish probation under the judge's conditions will have their cases dismissed. They can also then request that charges be expunged from their record. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Herman was fired in May 2024 after detectives with the Specialized Investigations Divisions discovered the video and identified him while wearing his MNPD uniform. He was arrested and charged with the two counts that June. Officials say Herman can be seen taking part in a mock traffic stop in the video that was posted on OnlyFans, a site where fans pay creators for their photos and videos. The skit allegedly included Herman groping the female driver. An MNPD press release says that the video was made April 26, 2024, in a warehouse parking lot while Herman was on duty as a patrol officer. In August 2024, a state board indefinitely suspended Herman of his certification to be a law enforcement officer in Tennessee, with the understanding that he could argue to be reinstated once the criminal case is closed.
